celebrate good times

Posted: October 29, 2010 at 7:29 pm

…c’mon! Let’s celebrate! Doo-doo-doo-doo-doodoodoodo. We’re gonna have a good time tonight.

I don’t know what got into me. Perhaps I’m still delirious from the shock I felt earlier today. I felt my first Braxton Hicks contraction this afternoon. Actually, two. And painful ones at that. I literally had to breathe through them. Not cool, body, not cool.

Despite the discomfort, I did have a fabulous day! I actually had a relaxed morning. Makenzie & I headed to Target to pick up a birthday gift for my mom and a card for money for my sister. I think Target has some sort of mind control going on within its walls though. I can never leave without something that was not on my list. Today’s spontaneous purchase? A pair of maternity jeans. The chillier weather reminded me of my need for more than 2 pairs of long pants to get me through the rest of this pregnancy. I couldn’t say no to an actually decent looking pair of maternity pants.

We celebrated my mom’s and sister’s birthdays with a lunch out together.

My sister wanted sushi. She’s lucky it was her birthday. Otherwise I would have had to beat on her a little bit for taunting me like that. 😉 I settled on a lunch special. It included a cup of hot and sour soup, a tofu + veggies dish, and an eggroll.

IMGP8239 IMGP8241

Makenzie and I ate almost the entire plate together. I also may have committed a terrible, horrible, blasphemous act of pregnancy as well.

IMGP8243 IMGP8245

I ate one piece of the roll. I don’t know what all was in the roll since it wasn’t my order, but I do know it involved spicy tuna and tasted glorious. Sue me. Hmmm? Perhaps the Braxton Hicks were payback?

Celebrations continued later in the day. We had a Halloween party to attend with our mom’s club friends. I got little M all decked out in her costume.

IMGP8248

Quack! I can’t get over how adorable she is either. We met up at a local dessert place called Ice Cream Social with all of our friends. The party started with some light trick-or-treating around some local stores. Then, we ended with some cupcake decorating.

Makenzie was a happy camper! And why wouldn’t she be with all that sugar facing her? Look for a post on Sunday about my Halloween thoughts and handling all the treats with kids. It will have to wait because now I must head out to meet up with a group of friends for an Atlanta blogger meet-up! Hope you all have a great Friday night.

  • Are you dressing up for Halloween? If not, what was one of your favorite or most memorable costumes from years past? I still laugh at my friends & I dressing up as Spice Girls in high school. We actually trick-or-treated too! We’ll see how my plans for this year work out. 😉

  1. Ohmigosh M’s costume!!! ADORABLE.

  2. Becca says:

    I LOVE M’s outfit! Too cute! 😀

I was a Hershey kiss one year, and Dorothy from the Wiz another year. When I was maybe eight I was a bride, and my sister was Bugs Bunny! Those are the ones I remember. I trick-or-treated until I was maybe 10 (the Dorothy costume was when I was helping at a church Halloween event–even had a “Toto”!), but I only remember a couple of the costumes.

  3. rebecca says:

I love M’s costume. what a great idea. she looks adorable. so cute!!

  4. M’s little duck costume is SO cute!! I think my most memorable costume was when I dressed up with my best friend as a barbershop quartet (except there were only 2 of us haha)…we wore our marching band pants with huge suspenders and got THE ugliest white and red striped shirts from goodwill hahaha. People kept asking us to sing the entire night!

  5. That is such a cute costume! And I won’t tell anyone you had a bite of sushi if you don’t tell anyone I had not one but two grilled cheese sandwiches tonight 😉

  6. Leashieloo says:

I love that you dressed up as the Spice Girls! We did that one year too, I was Posh. This year, I’m dressing up as Audrey Hepburn and then on Sunday I’ll be in my boxer girl get up.

  7. One of my most memorable costumes was when Joe and I dressed up as an old couple. All the girls were dressed in these slutty costumes and I had knee highs and orthodpedic shoes. I carried a big old lady purse with yarn and crocheting needles and Joe put fake hair in his ears and his shirt was poking out of his pants zipper. Classic!

  8. Gah! I love that chick costume! One of my coworkers dressed her little girl in one too. Too cute!

  9. Eliza says:

oh. my. god. small children dressed as animals are pretty much my favorite thing in the world. my partner and i have discussed the implementation of a rule that requires our children always wear something with ears or a tail until they are two.

  10. Camille says:

Oooh my gosh, Makenzie is the cutest ever!
I actually started laughing when I saw her photo 🙂

  11. Meaghen says:

Your daughter is adorable. What a cute costume!!!!

I hope the rest of your day was pain free! 🙂

  12. any woman to get thru a toddler cupcake decorating party AND BH Contractions…and wanting sushi but not really having it…is so deserving of a pair or four of maternity pants. It’s not like you’re buying Seven Jeans just for kicks. You need pants! And i hated that feeling of having just a few more weeks left and trying to stretch out the current wardrobe but it just..not…making it. And having to ponyup some $ for new maternity pants.

I had BH contrax starting at like 30 weeks. Oh god, I remember it all too well.

Have a happy HWeen with M!

    • Tina says:

Yea. I normally wouldn’t mind buying clothes I need…but its frustrating to buy something you know you will only be wearing for a couple months. LOL Only $30 but still. I would rather use that $30 towards some NICE jeans post-baby. 😉

Have a great weekend with Skylar too!

  13. Awww, Little M is soooooooo cute in her costume! Love it!

Girl, I would have felt tortured, too, going out to eat and not being able to really indulge in sushi. It’s my all-time FAVORITE food ever! Seriously, I could eat it everyday…and I just might post comp hehe;)

Tomorrow Hubbs and I are going to a party. I’m going as the Progressive car insurance gal…ughh, I can’t STAND her, but thought it would be something I could pull off with red hair (not to mention she is SCARY so it fits with Halloween HAHA!)

  14. Hallie says:

M is the cutest kid in that room, I just have to say! And I know nothing of pregnancy but I say rock on with your one piece of sushi! I think it’s OK to break a little rule now and then. At my friend’s baby shower, she was hitting up the soft cheeses, and her baby seems to be just fine 🙂

  15. Ela says:

Cutest, funniest outfit – how adorable! And how sweet to have time with your mom and sis also. M must have felt so grown-up to be included.

I didn’t grow up with Halloween, so no stories from me, but I enjoy reading other people’s.

Hope you feel better! Glad you got you those jeans – sounds like you actually needed them, but I agree that there’s something about those stores and ending up buying stuff not on the list…

    love
    Ela

  16. Oh my gosh! That has to be the cutest duck costume ever!

  17. I’m glad you had a great day and wonderful celebrations 🙂 that piece of sushi looks delicious. I love spicy rolls!

  18. Lee says:

That duck costume is so cute!!

I was Mary-Kate Olsen like 5 years ago. It was when she was in the news a lot and a few people actually recognized who I was supposed to be! I basically dressed like a bag lady and carried around a huge Starbucks cup.

  19. Simply Life says:

oh my gosh, all those kids dressed up is ADORABLE!!!

  20. Your daughter is soo cute and I LOVE her costume. I think my most memorable/a little embarrassing costume was when I was a bag of jelly beans with a clear garbage bag as the bag and balloons as the jelly beans… Needless to say it was hard to get around or sit down!

This year I am being a Roller Derby girl and get to roller blade all night.

I hope you and M have a great rest of halloween weekend!

    • Tina says:

That is such a fun idea with the jellybeans. I would never be creative enough to come up with something like that.

  21. Aghghg, she’s TOO cute!!! I LOVE her costume!

  22. Heather says:

oh my gosh, all those kiddos are SO CUTE in their little costumes!

  23. M is soooo cute. I am not dressing up. I would have had we been in Seattle though (People of Walmart party LOL).

  24. homecookedem says:

OH my goodness, M is so super cute in her duck costume!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂

  25. M is SO adorable!! Have fun with her this weekend, I hope you don’t have any more Braxton Hicks.

  26. Baby duck!

Sushi will probably be on the top things to miss whenever I’m pregnant.

  27. Jess says:

OMG M is so cute in her costume!!! I just want to squeeze her! 🙂 And ps. I totally don’t blame you for eating a bite of sushi – I would be dying for it too if I were in your shoes, I say go for it, you’ve earned it 🙂

  28. Aw her costume is beyond adorable!! So cute 🙂

  29. Kristy says:

OMG! That many little tots in their costumes so adoable! I really think her age is the BEST dress up age! They own it 🙂

  30. […] got M all dressed up, for the third time, and were ready to head out at around 6 pm. Except no one was out yet. No one. So, we did […]

  31. Sara says:

    Little M = SO cute!
