The Most Boringest Weekend Ever

Posted: January 9, 2011 at 2:49 pm

In all likelihood this weekend seemed so boring because I constantly sit on the edge of my seat contractions, waiting for something more exciting. Like real labor. That just won’t happen. Quit playing games with my uterus baby B!!!

The weekend has been pretty lackluster. I spent most of the day yesterday trying to nap because I felt exhausted and nauseous. If I wasn’t doing that, I was pacing our living room or distracting myself with blogging. The most exciting part of the weekend was a BBQ dinner out to use up a Groupon that expires this month.

IMGP9718

I ate just the meat, doused in a TON of hot sauce, and the coleslaw. My appetite has been so funky the past few days. I have to go grocery shopping after publishing this post and have NO idea what to buy because absolutely nothing sounds appealing to me right now. We need food though, so I must go. I must go and face the mad crowds of weekend shopping…before an “ice storm” in Georgia. People go crazy. It’s kind of hilarious. And annoying. Not as annoying as false labor, though.

But, moving on. This has been fluttering around the blog world and I always enjoy these fun little surveys. So when Katie from Healthy Heddleston tagged me, I opted to play along. I think she just wants to know more about one of her roomies at Fitbloggin. 😉

Four TV Shows I Watch
1. Friends – It may be repeats, but nothing will ever compare in my mind.
2. The Biggest Loser – I can’t stop! Plus, its a weekly ritual with my sister.
3. Parenthood – Love that show!
4. Grey’s Anatomy

Four Words/Phrases I Use Too Much
1. Love it!
2. You’re so pretty. <--- My sister & I say this to people when they do something stupid. In fact, I’m pretty sure we stole it from Friends.
3. I love you. – Said numerous times a day to my little M and Peter.
4. Apparently I say “I’m sure…” a lot according to Peter.

Four Things I’ve Learned From the Past
1. Forgiving someone else can sometimes be the best thing to do for yourself.
2. Life is much more enjoyable with a passion.
3. Food does not have to control you if you love yourself first.
4. Trust God. The big man knows what he is doing.

Four Things I’m Looking Forward To
1. Welcoming baby B to the world!!!
2. Getting in that first more intense workout.
3. Attending my first blogging conference.
4. Not being pregnant anymore. Clearly that is high in my mind right now.

Four Things I Love About Winter
1. The holidays.
2. Sweatshirts.
3. It’s not 100 degrees out.
4. Four is pushing it. I honestly do not like winter.

Four Newest Blogs Added to my Reader
1. Simplifying Cooking – My sister-in-law’s new blog! She just started it!
2. Naptime Diaries
3. N Her Shoes
4. Eating Bird Food

Now you tell me – what’s a new blog you love to read and something you learned from the past?

Booo to baby b for making you wait so long! Come on! You still have 11 hours before my prediction is right!

  2. Oh I hope Baby B comes soon! I’m so excited for you!

And FYI ‘you’re so pretty’ IS from Friends! I use it too haha! 😀

  3. Jess says:

Hang in there!! I sense how anxious you are to meet the little guy and sooo don’t blame you! I seriously hope those contractions re-start tonight so you can meet the little guy very, very soon! Good luck at the grocery store…talk about a slap in the face after feeling the way you have this weekend. Boo!

  4. lindsay says:

Its fun to see what people are into to, not boring at all. what you’ve learned from the past is encouraging. And FRIENDS…..well I just can’t get enough reruns either. 🙂

  5. Camille says:

    Yep, that’s definitely from Friends!
Joey says something… Joeyish and Rachel pets his head and says, “You’re so pretty.”
Is it evident that I watch too much Friends?

  6. Coco says:

After that meal, maybe its a good thing you didn’t go into labor yesterday. 🙂 But, now that it’s digested, I think you have waited long enough. My OB’s answer when I was impatient: “When the fruit is ripe, it will fall off the tree.” Easy for HIM to say!

I am pretty new to the blogosphere and just getting to know other blogs and bloggers. I do like Cynthia at http://itallchanges.com

You might like my blog about fitness and faith:

  7. Love the “You’re so pretty” joke, hilarious!

  8. Natalie says:

I laughed the minute I read your title, but I’m so sorry you’re bored!!! Sweatshirts are my favorite part of winter too 🙂

  9. Dorry says:

It’s snowing in Dallas today and everyone was at the grocery store yesterday stocking up – hahaha. It’s funny how people panic about a little snow. I’m watching it out the window, though, and it’s very pretty!

  10. I just discovered The Healthy Runner Girl and Clean Eating Chelsey. Love them both!

  11. Kat says:

I love using up Groupons that have to go.

I wish I had some really sage lessons from the past, but most of them involve college, alcohol and raspberry vodka. So, just don’t do it.

  12. i just found the healthy everythingtarian and healthy living in america’s dairyland. they’re both fellow madison bloggers!

  13. Dude… I’m with you on your thoughts about winter. It really is no fun. I keep telling myself- halfway through…. halfway through…

  14. Ela says:

Sorry you’re bored: I know that all will come in due course, but I’m really rooting for you to have B out in the world!

A new blog I’m excited to be reading is ‘cabinblendings’ (at blogspot): I’m so excited that there is another rawfoodie living in a little cabin in Alaska! It gives a priceless feeling of fellowship, and she seems supercool and fun too.

Something I learned from the past: often what I want most will come to pass, but I’ll have to wait for it. (God–as soon as I wrote that, I feared it might sound like a preachy thing about baby B’s arrival. Please know that it’s not that at all: I was genuinely thinking of things (like meeting my husband) that I really really wanted and had to wait a long time for.)

    love
    Ela

    • Tina says:

Oh I didn’t take it as preachy about baby B at all! I know that good things usually require patience and try to remind myself of it regularly. It’s a good lesson to learn. 🙂

  15. Love Friends and that “you’re so pretty” line from it. I put Friends on in the background whenever I am working on the computer, so I have seen every episode many times.

My swim coach taught me almost every great lesson I have ever learned. One of my favorites is “You are who you are when nobody is looking.” I interpret this as ALWAYS staying accountable to your values, morals, etc.

  16. Katie’s blog is one of my most recent favorites! I was introduced to her through your blogger/reader secret santa, so thanks, Tina!

  17. So Georgia is like North Carolina with them freaking out about the snow huh? It’s ridiculously annoying. They keep having snow alert 2011 and I’m like “cmon people, it’s three to five inches”

My ex bfused to do the “You’re so pretty” thing to me when I said something stupid, it was annoying when he did it though b/c it was all condescending like. Oh yeah, and he would also pet my hair while doing it. Creeper.

    • Tina says:

Yea, it has to be done jokingly and not condescendingly. That’s for sure. And yes. We have the same over exaggeration here with the weather too.

  18. Ok so maybe Baby B really is going to arrive tomorrow on my sister’s bday as I predicted????!!!! I keep waiting to see a tweet or post that you’re in labor….

  19. No baby yet?! Loved the survery 🙂

  20. Priyanka says:

One of my close friends is expecting her baby soon and she is literally in the same mind set as yours. I hope baby B arrives soon 🙂

  21. I am sending birthing vibes your way!

  22. Lee says:

I have learned that sweet tea vodka and well, me, don’t mix! That’s my lesson. This reminds me that I was also tagged with this and haven’t done it yet.

    Hope baby B comes soon!

  23. Hang in there Mama! I cannot wait for baby B to get here either!!! 😀

And I agree with you about the winter. The January blahs are in full swing.

  24. Michelle says:

Sorry baby B hasn’t arrived yet! False labor is the worst – especially with baby #2.

Loved the survey – I just discovered N Her Shoes too. Thanks Google Reader 🙂

LOVE Friends – do you watch How I Met Your Mother? It’s similar, but quirky and funny in it’s own way.

Hope that little guy comes soon!

  25. Jennifer Rahn says:

I’m having the nausea and lack of appetite, too. It’s no fun. I had a one-hour period this evening when I was RAVENOUS and would have eaten everything in sight if anything had, well, been in sight. I missed my window of opportunity.

For now, I will retire to bed with my aching back, and achey, pressure-laden lower belly.

It’s time for us both. Let’s go, boys.

  26. Sounds like baby will be here soon….being tired and nauseous is always the sign in the end! Good luck!

  27. You’re right, that was fun learning more about my roomie!!

  28. That baby is STILL in you?! So much for the eggplant parm miracle lol

  29. I recently found simplyshaka and Running Around Normal. I have so many blogs in my reader though (including yours).

    Hope baby B comes soon!

  30. Robyn says:

Tina, love your Four Things I’ve Learned From the Past.

Hope you have a great week and the arrival of a new baby to announce!

  31. Awe baby B come out and join the world!! It snowed today in Dallas and the grocery store was complete chaos!!

  32. Let’s gooooooooooooo Baby B! 🙂

  33. I identify STRONGLY with all four of your lessons from the past! They still ring incredibly true today in my life… I’m still working on them, even though I’ve “learned”! I guess in some ways that’s a metaphor for life, though, as well. Always growing, always learning…

  34. Heather says:

    it’s a new-to-me blog, but i am loving Blue-Eyed Bride these days!

  35. Allie says:

So sorry your weekend was boring!! Its nice to see you are enjoying it not being 100 degrees in Georgia LOL

  36. Tracy says:

I’m glad that you listed 4 things you’re looking forward to. I find that life is simply sweeter when such a list exists!

  37. Holly says:

I’m sorry you aren’t feeling so great, Tina…. 🙁 C’mon, baby B! You know you want to meet your mama and family!

haha one of my friends says, “At least you’re pretty” to people whenever they say something stupid. 🙂

  38. Mandy says:

My favorite blog right now is probably fitnessista.com. I have learned that I can’t control everything…and believe me, that took awhile to learn;)

  39. hang in there! it’ll be so soon! and something I’ve learned in the past is your exact #4 🙂

  40. Rach says:

I love your top three shows! And I’m not a fan of winter either, ick! Well except for today when there is pretty snow and I get to watch my poor dog run around confused in it, hehe!

  41. Sarah says:

One of the blogs I’ve just come across and am loving right now is :http://www.lisaleonardonline.com/blog/.
One of the things I’ve learned? I’m never, EVER alone.

For your sake, I hope that baby comes soon!

  42. I looooove N her shooes too. Thanks for the shout-out! ANYTIME you want to do a “body after baby” guest post (or ANY guest post), you’re welcome over at Naptime Diaries!
