There’s No Place Like Home

Posted: January 12, 2011 at 8:31 pm

We got to come home today! Technically, our discharge should have been tomorrow but they allowed us to leave earlier since the roads may worsen for Thursday. We took advantage of that offer. Although going home did present a few problems.

First off, we had no car. We headed to the hospital via ambulance, remember? Peter’s dad helped us out. He drove up and then picked up Peter to take some of our stuff home and pick up the car seat. When they made the original pit-stop to our house, they quickly discovered that our neighborhood’s roads are still not driveable.

What did that mean for us? We still went home. We had to park the car at the front of the neighborhood and walk up to our house.

The fun just never stops, huh? Luckily its a short walk and we made it safely. We also managed to get Makenzie home. I wish you could have seen the excited look on her face when she first saw him!

It feels so incredible to be home with my family!

  4. Yay! As a California girl, the effect of snow on daily life seems so strange. I’m glad you are all safe and well! How exciting to have an entire new person in your family.

Home feels like my grandmother and grandfather making my sister and me cinnamon toast, watching The Price is Right, cooking big, Italian feasts for our family, telling the same stories every holiday (and every Tuesday). I definitely associate home with family, as it seems you do.

  35. your family is so beautiful! ironically the thing that makes my home HOME is the constant clutter. we try and try to clean (well, my mom does) but within a few hours there are piles of junk or books or half-read newspapers or dirty dishes or coats piled up somewhere… it’s inevitable, but at this point, somewhat refreshing.

  36. Sara says:

I was in Icelanta and my flight was cancelled so I had to spend an extra day. So coming home was amazing. My pets–especially Buffy–my husband and our couch is home to me!

  37. Hayley says:

I am so behind…you had your baby!!!!! He is absolutely beautiful Tina, and I love the name Braedon. Great choice! Best wishes to you and your lovely family.. 🙂

  38. Michelle says:

Such sweet pictures! I’m so happy for all of you!!!

Honestly, my husband makes my home seem like home to me. No matter where we go, wherever he is, is home.
