In the words of Austin Powers’ Fat bastard…get in my belly!

In the words of FFF’s Tina…yummmmmmmmmmmm!

Oh, how I have missed you so. 9.5 months is a long time to go without one of your favorite meals. Thank goodness I have a sister and mother who love sushi as much as I do.

IMGP0030

We decided to split some for a special celebratory meal post baby B. So now, I must settle in with a belly full of raw fish and two of my favorite people in the world. It’s time for my weekly sister (+ mom) night!

Question of the Evening – What is one of your favorite meals or types of food?

  2. lindsay says:

this makes me so happy! Glad you are able to enjoy sushi now! LOVE MY SUSHI!

    Need some wine with that?
    LC

  3. Erica says:

yayy for you! The only real food I’m sad I’m missing right now is goat cheese & feta! ahhhh! But totally worth it 😉 I also gave up caffeine pretty much 100%. Luckily- no headaches or anything like that! Enjoy your time with your sisters

    • Tina says:

For the record – I would have soft cheeses on occasion later in pregnancy. Most everything standard in the US is pasteurized. I had blue cheese and goat cheese quite often the 2nd half. I’m always cautious the first tri though too.

      And congrats again!!!

  4. I’m so happy you got to finally have sushi! I really love pasta, soups, sushi and salads! I’m craving some sushi now b\c of your post!

  5. Sarah says:

Enjoy the sushi 🙂 And have a wonderful mom/sister night!

  6. It’s heaven eating the foods that you love after giving them up for baby… although very much worth it 🙂 Enjoy the time with your mom and sis!

  7. Wine and sushi… the two things I will miss the most when I’m pregnant!

  8. I love that you do weekly get-togethers with your family. What a great tradition. I love Thai food, Mexican, pretty much anything spicy and can’t imagine a life without it.

  9. Anne Marie says:

My sister in law was the most excited about sushi after having my sweet little niece too. Even more than microbrews 😉

  10. Enjoy it Tina! I love median the best! Make it HOT!

  11. Lee says:

I know you missed sushi. Glad you were able to have some!

  12. Sushi is my favorite thing. The fish part was the hardest part about going completely vegetarian. I miss my tuna and avocado but I have found a love for vegetarian combos.

  13. yay for sushi! i love sushi – i will definitely have a hard time giving it up when i’m preggers. i think my favorite kind of food is indian. this is a new development, but lately i can’t get enough of really good curry!

  14. I loooove sushi – I’m actually going out for some on Saturday night (minus the fish of course). I think I’ll die a little without caffeine when I’m pregnant.

  15. Karen says:

So glad you got to enjoy your sushi! Isn’t it amazing the foods/drinks that we give up when pregnant? We should make our husbands give up some of their favorite foods for the 9.5 months too!

  16. Mandy says:

    yum:)

My fav meal…pizza for sure:) and some wine;)

  17. Awww I love that you have weekly nights with your sister and mom! In our family the three of us all live in different states! Super boo!

  18. Rach says:

Oooh love me some sushi! 🙂

  19. Hooooooray for sushi! So happy you can finally have the lovely raw fishies back in your life!

  20. Looks yummy! My best friend and I are meeting for sushi tomorrow night. I can’t wait!!

  21. Hooray for sushi!! I feel the same exact way 🙂

I don’t think I could ever be pregnant–no caffeine and no sushi? You have WAY more willpower than I would. But then again, I guess if a little human was growing inside of me I would be more mindful!

  22. Sushi is my ULTIMATE favorite!!! OOooo! Anything with salmon in the name is what I order!

  23. Lauren says:

I’m glad you got to enjoy sushi after 9 months! I bet it tasted SO good now. Looks good, I had sushi tonight too!

  24. Kat says:

I’ll be honest, the thought of going so long without sushi is one of my major fears about someday-pregnancy. I’m so glad you got to enjoy it with some important ladies in your life – you definitely deserve it, mama!

Sushi aside, lately I’ve been on a major Indian jag. Spicy, healthy, I can’t get enough.

  25. Jolene says:

Yum! I am learning to love sushi after being ‘meh’ about it for so long. What was I missing?! 😉 Sounds like a great night!

  26. Kirsten says:

Sad but true… hands down chips & queso. My current favorite is from a place downtown called Tin Lizzy’s. Really, if given the option, I’d probably eat chips & queso 3 nights a week.

  27. whoooohoooo! enjoy welcoming delish sushi back into your diet! =)

  28. ashleigh says:

I wish I liked sushi, I’ve given it a few times and there’s something I don’t like about it.

    Mexican is my favorite!

  29. Stephanie says:

I will go with any Asian cultured dish. Indian, Thai, Sushi, Vietnamese, Chinese, Cambodian. You name it..I’m there.

Sushi is hands down my favorite though!!!!!

  30. Emily says:

Welcome back raw fish!!! I am a HUUGE sushi lover, too! Today my dad discovered my brother had thrown away a $30 gift certificate from last Christmas that he assumed had expired. I pulled it from the trash, made a phone call to the restaurant, and now and have free sushi date in my future 🙂 I’d invite you if you lived here for sure, enjoy your girl night!

  31. I’ve never had sushi… I should try it at some point in my life.

I really like sandwiches and wraps… I have a serious obsession with they recently!

  32. Therese says:

Mmmm now I really want sushi!!! I love that line from SATC. I need to remember to use it next time I eat sushi, because that’s definitely how I feel about it too!

  33. When my best friend gave birth, she requested sushi as her first post-delivery meal! It’s great that your sis and mom love sushi too, food is always better when enjoyed with family! While I do love Japanese food as well, my favorite cuisine is Italian.

  34. Dorry says:

Yay! So glad you got to have sushi AND hang out with your mom and sis. What a perfect night. I love sushi, too. Lately, my favorite cuisine is Greek/Mediterranean, but I’ll always love Tex-Mex.

  35. Laura says:

hey there, fellow sushi lover <3
sashimi-salmon, and maki rolls are my fav!

  36. I love Mexican food. I did have to tone down the spicy foods during pregnancy and breastfeeding. I can definitely understand your excitement in having your favorite again! Yay! I remember enjoying a margarita after pregnancy and breastfeeding. 🙂

  37. he he he… you could not look more excited!

I actually went out for sushi with some friends tonight. My friend who’s preggers was a wee bit jealous….

  38. Mmm sushi. I love vegetable sushi as a treat! My favorite food, however, is pizza. So freaking good.

  39. aw, YAY ! looks like a fun night, and so glad you got your sushi!! I think that would be The Hardest Part of pregnancy for me… 🙂

  40. Shannon says:

Sushi was one of the first things I ate after Noah James was born. I missed it so much! Glad you enjoyed it and got to spend time with your mom and sister.

  41. Kristi says:

I love sushi! I wish I could eat it everyday, but if I get it once a week I’ll be fine.
I think it’s great that your mom and sister get together with you weekly.

  42. Katie says:

Yay!! Im so glad you got sushi!! I would of been missing it so much to!
You , your mom, and sis are all so pretty!

I told my fiance when we plan on having a baby, that when the baby is delivered I want sushi right there that night in my hospital bed, lol! I will be soooooooooooooooo wanting after all that time not having it ; 0 )

  43. Heather says:

    What a great tradition!
And I’m a mexican girl through and through. I can’t get enough of the stuff! 🙂

  44. Heather says:

hurray! i’m so glad you got that sushi you’ve been craving 🙂 i love me some pizza…honestly, i don’t know if there’s ever been a time i just haven’t been in the mood for it!

  45. Congrats on getting back to a food you love!!

  46. Love sweet potato sushi and cucumber roll 🙂 Congrats! I honestly love mac and cheese and pizza … or anything Italian. And I seriously love beans and grains.

  47. Robyn says:

I LOVE good meat … steak, brisket, ribs, pulled pork, lamb ect. My husband and I have some friends that are excellent cooks. It is always a treat when we get to eat some of their bar-b-que creations.

  48. Camille says:

Yay! Congrats on your return to sushi 🙂
I realized the other day that I think my favorite food might be bananas. I know how completely weird this is, but there ya go 🙂

  49. Mellissa says:

I would much rather have sushi than cooked fish any night of the week, really good sushi makes me happy!
