Breakfast All Day

Posted: March 28, 2011 at 9:25 am

Catching up from the weekend?

I don’t know why, but the past few weekends have been very chill. Typically our weekends zoom by with so much to do. I like having a full plate of fun activities, but I admit it has felt nice to have some low-key time recently. This weekend was perfect for it, too! Our forecast looked like this basically the entire weekend…

weather

Cloudy. Rainy. Chilly. Dreary. We did just what that type of weather entails.

On Saturday, after my intense workout, we spent the day visiting my parents. It included lots of snuggles on the couch while my mom continues to get adjusted to her new treatments for Multiple Sclerosis. I don’t like seeing her not feel well. I think a couple cuties helped cheer her up, though.

mom&b mom&m

Saturday night we all hit the hay early. At 9 pm I wanted bed. Then, we all slept until about 8:30 (well, besides the 3am feeding). Not quite sure how that happened, but I’ll take it. You would think with the extra sleep we would set out for a productive morning.

oats&sausage

I fueled properly with 1/3 cup oats, 1/2 container Peach Chobani, a dollop of melted peanut butter, and an apple chicken sausage. Then, proceeded to plop on the couch.

beauty&beast

Watching Beauty & The Beast cuddled up on the couch together felt like a better idea than anything deemed “productive”. I have to say – nothing compares to the Disney classics. I now want a marathon Disney day with Aladdin, Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Cinderella, Bambi, and Dumbo.

I did finally manage to peel myself out of my PJs for lunch.

pbbmuffin

I had an english muffin with peanut butter and banana. Something about icky weather makes me crave simple, breakfast food so I went with it. Plus, it makes for a good pre-run meal if I give it enough time to digest fully. I had to run on the treadmill because I didn’t feel like braving the chill or chance of rain. I did some intervals to keep the boredom from setting in.

Minutes Speed
0-5 6.0
5-10 6.5
10-15 7.0
15-20 6.0
20-25 6.5
25-30 7.0
30-35 6.0
35-40 6.5
40-45 7.0

In the end, I covered 4.86 miles in my 45 minutes for an average pace of 9:15.

After that I came home craving MORE breakfast food! If I want breakfast three times a day and then a big stir-fry for dinner, so be it.

scramble cereal

This time I went for a small bowl of cheerios with strawberries, almonds, & almond milk and a repeat of that tasty egg scramble on the side. I foresee a new obsession with these combos. Quite satisfying.

To end out my weekend, I deemed the run worthy productivity and then curled up with my kiddos again. This time, with some books. I think that’s the best productivity out there anyways. ;)

Questions of the Day –

  • What is your favorite classic Disney movie?
  • What things do you crave on cloudy, chilly, rainy days?

  1. I think your weekend sounds great Tina — I love curling up on the couch watching movies. I really want to bust out the Disney movies now 🙂 My favorites are The Sword in the Stone, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid and some newer ones like Wall-E and Up!

  2. The Little Mermaid!
    I love that one.

I once read a Disney astrology book that told me that the character that best corresponds with the personality traits of someone with my birthday is Mulan. Which I loved because I think Mulan kicks ASS. Seriously. She was the best role model of a Disney female lead character.

  3. Marie says:

Your mom is so beautiful. We had a very similar weekend up in Virginia, complete with snow. Blegh! When the weather is like that I definitely reach for comforting foods (like grilled cheese+tomato soup), and I love reading on those days even more. I was obsessed with The Little Mermaid. My parents know every single word to every single song (to this day!) in that movie because for years around age 4 I watched it twice a day. Poor mom & dad! Looks like you all had a fun, cozy weekend 🙂

  4. Stacy says:

Sounds like a perfect relaxing weekend to me! What a great run on the treadmill you had, you are super fast!
Hmm my favorite classic Disney movie, that’s a hard one because they are all so good. If I had to choose one I think I’d have to go with Aladdin. I used to watch that over and over when I was little.

  5. Shady says:

Weather like that makes me want anything carby and comforting. I usually settle for healthy but still sastifying alternatives soup or chilli with thick slices of home made bread on the side.

My favorite disney movie (and possibly favorite movie of all time) is Little Mermaid. I can’t wait until my goddaughter is old enough to share it with.

  6. I’ve been thinking about your mom a lot–I hope she’s doing well!!

    • Tina says:

She is doing really well. I did an update a bit ago, but in case you missed it – they diagnosed her early and now its just finding the best treatment plan to keep things from progressing. The treatment is rough right now, but as her body adjusts to it she will feel better. 🙂

  7. Erica says:

Sounds like such a great weekend 🙂 And I could eat breakfast for every meal, every day 😉 In fact, we had french toast for dinner last night. Your Mom looks so happy to have those little babes in her arms – love it. Favorite classic disney movie….its SO hard to pick. When I was younger, it was beauty and the beast all the way. Now I’d say its a tie that includes Beauty & the beast, little mermaid (the music is so awesome), Aladin

  8. I think my favourite might be Beauty and the Beast!

  9. Kelly says:

Sounds like the perfect weekend to me! And spending it with M and Baby B is even BETTER!! 🙂 I love all those Disney Classics…Little Mermaid was always my favorite as a kid but now as an adult I think my favorite is Beauty and The Beast. But still nothing beats Mary Poppins…that movie will always always always remind me of my Dad. We used to watch that together all the time! 🙂

  10. Oh my gosh I could use a Disney marathon day! I used to LOVE that growing up…my mom and I would curl up and watch all of my favorites. It would just be us two, we would pop popcorn, make soup and watch Disney for the whole day. 🙂

My favorite is definitely the Little Mermaid. Love Ariel and that long hair!

On gloomy days I am all about the comfy clothing, something warm cooking in the oven, a good book, a blanket, and an evening with a glass of red wine!

  11. Angela says:

Beauty and the Beast was the first one I saw, and it was by far my favourite!! I haven’t seen it in ages but I’d love to be watching it right now – as childlike as that sounds! I also loved The Little Mermaid – the music is the best! 🙂

  12. Nicole says:

Breakfast is by far my favorite meal of the day, I have no problem eating it all day long!

  13. Aladdin is my favorite Disney movie! When I was younger, my dream as to be just like Princess Jasmine. LOL!

  14. Our weather was pretty darn crummy too. Made it hard to be motivated to do much of anything. Glad you had a good day with your mom.

  15. AmyLauren says:

The classic Disney movies are the best :). The ones today just don’t cut it. My favorite as a kid was Peter Pan but all the others are awesome too- Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, Lion King.

I pretty much did the same thing you did yesterday- stayed in my pajamas all day (except for when I was running), watched a lot of TV, and ate, haha. Sometimes lazy days are the best!

  16. I’ll join you for that classic Disney marathon!!!

  17. Beauty and the Beast is my favorite by far! I always loved Belle because she likes to read like me! 🙂

  18. Hi Tina, Mulan is number one in my Disney movies list. 🙂 I just recently discovered Tangled, can you believe that?:D Treadmill running works really best when it’s raining!

  19. Becca says:

Can I come to your Disney movie marathon? 😀
My favorite (classic) Disney movie? AH! Can’t decide. I once had a teddy bear I named Belle after Belle from Beauty and the Beast… 🙂 But I’m not sure which one is my favorite…

On gloomy, yucky days, I really just want to stay in my PJs, if not my bed, all day. 🙂

  20. Beauty and the Beast was hands-down my favorite. I couldn’t say “Gabriela”, so I called myself “Bella,” after Belle. Haven’t watched it in ages, though- I really want to!!

  21. Stephanie says:

I’ve been seeing Disney pop up all over the bloggie world lately! We love them all. Favorites are probably Snow White, Little Mermaid, Sleeping Beauty and Beauty and the Beast! We love to sing with them. 🙂

  22. I live beauty and the beast! I gottasay, Aladdin is a big fave too though 😉

  23. My weekend in North Carolina was also rainy and chilly. I spent plenty of time watching movies, reading, and cuddling with my cats/the manfriend.

  24. Heather says:

Sounds like a fantastic weekend to me!! Rainy days make me crave soup and grilled cheese. It’s just so good!!

  25. My favorite Disney movie is Beauty and the Beast – I love the soundtrack!

  26. I love Beauty and the Beast and the Little Mermaid the most. I love marathons of fun entertaining movies on rainy days. Looks like a great weekend!

  27. Emily says:

breakfast food is the BEST food. I would have done the same thing.

rainy days make me want to hang out in sweats, under a blanket with happy movies on the tv.

  28. I like toast & peanut butter or grilled cheese sandwiches on cold yucky days. I love when you can snuggle up on the couch and watch movies all day long!! We don’t get enough of those days.

  29. Robyn says:

On a cold snowy or rainy day I like a bowl of chili w/ cornbread.

I made the Lemon Raspberry Muffin recipe you shared w/ us. I used blueberries v. raspberries b/c that is what I had on hand. They are good!

  30. Dorry says:

We’re getting that same cold/rainy weather here…such a change after sunshine and 80s last week! I love breakfast foods and can definitely eat them throughout the day. I love Beauty & the Beast, but also Cinderella & Snow White from my childhood. Hard to pick a favorite!

  31. I crave coffee on cold chilly days. I can’t get enough of it and literally start to salivate at the thought of my favorite drink!

  32. I love, love, love The Little Mermaid. It’s one of my favs!

  33. Beauty and the Beast! I remember seeing that one in theaters… but my all time fav is Sleeping Beauty. We rented it so many times- I have no idea why my mom and dad just didn’t buy it.

However, I DID get it for xmas a few years back… thanks mom!

  34. LindseyAnn says:

Cinderella! Cinderella!! I’ve loved that movie my entire life.

Cloudy, rainy, dreary days make me want to do exactly what you did: curl up, watch movies, and eat comfort foods. 🙂

Sounds like you had a great, low-key weekend!

  35. Lauren says:

Congrats on such a great run! Little Mermaid is my favorite, but I love all of them. A few summers ago, I watched 20 minutes of Lion King everyday with the 2 year old I was watching – never got sick of it, just learned ALL the lyrics.

  36. TiffanyS says:

My mom was just telling me about the apple chicken sausage and she said they are very good. I might have to try them!

  37. Megan says:

I LOVE all classic Disney movies – Mulan, Pocohantas, The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Mary Poppins, they’re all fantastic!!

  38. I love Disney movies! All of them! My faves are Beauty and the Beast, Mulan, and The Little Mermaid. I used to watch The Little Mermaid with my dad when I was 4-5 and he used to cry at the end when Ariel goes to live with Eric every.single.time. Can you tell I was the first daughter? haha

  39. LauraJayne says:

I think I must need the entertainment my iPod provides, but I actually prefer treadmill running most of the time! On my longer runs, I catch up on my missed television, and I like the internet access that my gym provides so I can check email and twitter!

  40. oh my gosh I LOVE disney! Especially Beaty and the beast! Totally my favorite!

  41. Sounds like a perfect weekend to me! I sometimes welcome cold, dreary weather when I have no big plans. It’s like God is saying “Yeah – go ahead and relax.” 🙂

  42. Sleepy Beauty and Cinderella are my favorites.
On cold, rainy days all I want is breakfast too!

  43. Aww, I love Disney classics! Can’t wait to watch these films with my kids. My fave is probably Aladdin. I’ve watched it a zillion times. 🙂

  44. Love all your breakfast meals!! Those sound and look delicious 🙂

  45. Geraldine says:

It’s good to feed your cravings, and at least these were healthy cravings!
I’m with you on lovin’ breakfast meals. I would eat oatmeal three times a day if it was healthy for me. On cold chilly days I love hot PB schmeared bagels, potato waffles with mayo and buttery toast. Carboliscious and comforting.

  46. Ela says:

Sounds like a great rainy day! I can do smoothies all day too, and they’re my usual bfast.

Glad you spent some time with your mom. She is so beautiful, and I hope she is doing well.

    love
    Ela

  47. Sarah R says:

Oh my goodness, I have been craving breakfast foods like crazy lately. Not sure why, but I want them for every meal! My favorite Disney movie…hum… probably The Little Mermaid. Your mom sure does look good–I’m sure your sweeties helped brighten her day 🙂

  48. kendra says:

Love Mulan and Pocahontas! Breakfast foods are the best, especially warm cinammon buns made by mom!
I have a question for all the runners out there, as I’m just getting into it, training for a half marathon…what kind of water packs are the best for not thumping up and down when I’m running? For ease in grabbing while moving? Thanks for the help!
    Kendra
