Joke, No Joke
Posted: April 1, 2011 at 7:56 pmI don’t do April Fools. I think my father tainted it for me the year he set all the clocks wrong and woke us up to run around the house getting ready for school at 2 am. I assure you there will be no April Fool’s pranks in this post. Instead, I will happily recap my day and the joke or no joke moments that ensued.
Upon arriving to spin, our instructor informed us she planned an easy ride for the day. Joke. She promptly informed us that was her April Fools on us and then laughed an evil laugh. Needless to say, I left class drenched in sweat. No Joke.
Isn’t it spring? Joke, apparently. The weather this morning still had quite the chill to it. However, that didn’t stop me from satisfying my cravings for a yogurt bowl for breakfast.
I coupled a container of pineapple Chobani yogurt with strawberries, coconut, and a couple of large handfuls of Cheerios. It was tasty. No joke.
After breakfast, I took a long and peaceful hot shower. Joke. I have two kids hanging with me remember? Within two minutes of hopping in I had Braedon fussing for some random reason and Makenzie telling him to “Stop it! I reading, BraeDON!” There was absolutely nothing peaceful about that shower. And keeping your eye on two kids while scrubbing with soap will inevitably leave your eyes stinging. It all turned out okay, though. I did finally get myself dressed in “real” clothes after my shower for the first time in almost a week. No joke. It felt so good to break out of the yoga pants rut!
My breakfast held me over for a long time. Joke. I knew I needed more fat in the meal to fill my belly! I was ready for lunch just a short 2ish hours later, so I whipped up a very satisfying meal.
I cooked some mushrooms and spinach together, scrambled an egg, and tossed it all together with some goat cheese in a wrap. I had an apple and some carrots with hummus to round out the meal. Actually, my spoonful of peanut butter afterwards rounded out the meal. Peanut butter makes an excellent post-lunch dessert. No joke.
I think I am finally over my goat cheese kick. Joke. Who are you kidding?! I just can’t stop. Which is why I made meatballs with the good stuff and wonder when I can make more. Clearly, I’m obsessed. No joke.
Spinach & Goat Cheese Meatballs
- 1 lb lean ground beef (LOVING our cow share for this meat!)
- 4 oz crumbled goat cheese
- 2 large handfuls fresh spinach, chopped/shredded/torn apart
- 1/2 red onion, diced
- 1/4 cup bread crumbs
- 1 egg
Combine all ingredients in a large bowl.
Mix well with your hands. Roll into 2” meatballs and place on a cooking sheet sprayed with cooking spray. Should give you anywhere between 12-16 meatballs. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 20-25 minutes, until cooked through.
Et’ voila! A perfect little meal in no time at all.
Now, it’s 8 pm on Friday night and I’m ready to climb into bed. You may think I’m joking, but I promise that is no joke at all.
Question of the Evening – What joke or no joke moments did you have today? And are you a fan or hater of April Fools?
Your dad did a CRAZY April fools joke! I would not be laughing about that… everrrr. I like this post! It is formatted so cool with the JOKE. Haha 🙂
I loved the food heavy post today!! It was fun! I also liked the set up of this post – super cute. I didn’tplay any jokes today either.
I have all of the meatball ingredients and was struggling with what to make for dinner, it’s perfect! Thanks and too funny about your Dad…picturing you running through the house at 2:00 a.m.- lol.
That’s a terrible joke! I think that would ruin it for me too. I agree – the weather here is playing an April Fool’s joke! I was hoping for semi-warm weather, but it was freezing rain/sleet all day.
Mmm, your yogurt bowl looks yummy!!!
The meatballs look delicious! And I think a spoonful of PB sounds like a wonderful dessert!
Jason just did our April Fools jokes — called his mom and said we’re moving to FL for his new job — she is actually super excited for us and can’t wait to come visit — what??? Now we have to be the jerks to tell her it was a lie. I keep telling Jason to quickly find a new job down there so it isn’t a lie 🙂
Haha! I like hearing others’ jokes. That was a good one. 🙂
My workout today was no joke! A great way to start off the weekend. 🙂
I’m jealous of your lunch! I ended up just having crackers and hummus because it was such a busy day at work. I don’t like pranks but I do enjoy the harmless jokes during April Fools!
you are too cute. I love this post! so clever! Well I am glad you got in a killer spin class, I wish you could have enjoyed a peaceful shower, no joke! Maybe tonight you are enjoying a nice glass of wine to go with those goat cheese balls…..YUM!
Those meatballs look delish! No joke!
No gonna lie, I hate April Fool’s Day. I don’t have a really good sense of humor, but I like reading about other people’s jokes, just don’t like when things happen to me.
My mom would wake us up every April Fool’s Day saying it was snowing outside and we had a snow day. It got old, fast.
And those meatballs look awesome!
I don’t do April Fools jokes. I don’t like pranks. Sounds you had a great day! Real clothes is always a bonus!
haha I love this post. Those meatballs look like no joke! delicious!
Oh how I wish my day was a joke! I have a baby with a virus and a severe ear infection.
Those meatballs look great. I love goat cheese also 🙂
Oh no! Hope the babe gets better soon. 🙂
YUM! Goat cheese in meatballs? Yes please! Love the lunch meal as well. So tasty looking. I totally got joked on today and fell for it every time. hi, I’m gullible!
Wow- those meatballs look delicious!! I’ve never tried goat cheese before, but for some reason right now it sounds pretty good. I definitely didn’t get joked on today, but saw lots of people change their relationship status on FB to engaged. Hmmm…
Miles woke me up to escort him to the bathroom at 3:30 am – no joke. Better in the toilet then in his pants I guess! 😉
Those meatballs look scrumptious!
Those meatballs look amazing! I love goat cheese so I will have to try these.
They really are flavorful! Love them!
This post is so cute! Haha, it made me smile 🙂 I would probably kill my dad if he did something like that to me. I’m surprised he hasn’t!
I can never pull off a prank. I always start smiling and the other person knows I’m messing with them. But, my cat did play a joke on me. She usually sleeps at the bottom of the bed and I was careful all night not to kick her because she looked so peaceful down there. It the morning, I saw that it wasn’t her. Just a sweatshirt that I had tossed there before bedtime. Heh.
those meatballs look fantastic!!
Tina, that clock changing thing is BRILLIANT. I need to save that idea for when my kids are in school. I am so doing that.
I warn you – if they like their sleep it may traumatize them for life. 😉 LOL
Oh my goodness I wantto eat those meatballs tonight! They look incredible!
oh yum yum yum! those meatballs look amazing! 🙂 and i HATE april fools. i’m so gullible.
I am such a huge April Fool’s hater. I see all these pranks coming from a mile away. I love surprises, as long as they aren’t evil. 🙂
I am reading this post while crammed into a teeeeny tiny corner of my living room which has been taken hostage by 10 little girls watching a movie. I’m just thankful the shrieking has died down. No joke. 🙂
Haha! That sounds like quite the, uhhh, experience shall we say. 🙂 Hope you survived!
I don’t hate April Fools, but if someone plays an April Fools joke on me, I am probably going to fall for it… I’m gullible!
I don’t hate April Fool’s but I am not a big fan either. I get so sensitive about jokes sometimes!
I was grouchy today. No joke. 😉
Those meatballs look so good! I may have to make them tomorrow!!
What a creactive post! My mom used to be an expert in jokes. She once scared me so badly…She began her hoax 3 days before Fool’s Day. I would receive mesages from an anonimus M. that told me he likes me and he followes me and even knew what I was wearing.
Apparently, M. was the short version from Mom. It was that bad that I began questioning if it was one of my classmates.
I’m still upset on her 🙂
Yea that would be creepy! Crazy story – I was stalked in kindergarten. My parents would get phone calls from some old woman telling what I was wearing and that she couldn’t wait to take me away for her own.
No April Fool’s jokes at our house. April 1st is more a celebration that March is over. My husband informed me on Thursday that March is his least favorite month.
No Joke of the day … I am tired and went to be early last night.
I’m with you – I do NOT like April Fool’s Day or April Fool’s jokes. Ugh. I am not sure why that is, but I know I don’t like getting tricked or made fun of or…any of that stuff.
I don’t even eat meat, but those meatballs look amazing! I may have to make them for the manfriend.
My mom greatly disliked April Fool’s Day… so we grew up with it as a non-holiday.
It doesn’t bother me, nor do I celebrate it. If I’m going to plan a joke on someone, I’m going to do it regardless… all in good fun of course. 🙂
I am not a big April Fools fan. Let’s see, spring has been a total joke but the sun finally came out and that was no joke!
I hate April Fools Day! I don’t like practical jokes in general. In tv shows or movies when the main character doesn’t know something and everyone else does including the audience, I hate that.
I also hate April Fools and pranks in general. Pranks always seem kind of mean to me…they only work because one person can laugh at another person’s expense. I also hate “fake-outs”, when someone pretends that the news is bad and then instead says that the news is GOOD. So clever. So funny. Ugh.
This post just made my morning (no joke)! My mom pulled the *exact* same prank on us when we were young, except instead of waking us at 2am, she woke us at 5am (saying it was 9am and that we were late for school), had us get ready super fast, and then took us out to breakfast at Bob’s Big Boy. My brother and I turned into the pranksters as we got older (although my mom still always dyed the milk some random scary color), and many shenanigans ensued. Yesterday, however, was prank free for me! I think it was the first April Fool’s I haven’t fooled someone!
Your meatballs look delicious!!
Now if a special breakfast followed mine, I could have gotten on board. LOL
Have a great day, Sara!
We’re not that big on April Fool’s Day around here. No pranks in this house! But I did manage to prank myself yesterday morning. Somehow I’d added “work 4-7 AM” in my phone’s calendar. That was a surprise. “What? I don’t work today…” Must’ve accidentally added it last week when I was putting in this week’s schedule. Oops.
I did enjoy learning about AFD in French class, though. Our prank was to make a paper fish and try to tape it to someone’s back without them noticing. Yeah… that was a fail for me. I’m not very good at pranks. But that’s okay with me! Some of them get way too out of hand.
I love that you eat meatballs as a course and not as a pasta topping!
I thought this post was too cute! No joke. 🙂
I’m not really a fan of jokes. Even though I can be pretty sarcastic in real life, I’m not one for pranks and the like. Have a great weekend, Tina!
I can’t even imagine not being able to take a peaceful shower because of kids.. you are my hero.
Those meatballs look wonderful! I think I’m going to make them and top with a little greek yogurt sauce, yum 🙂
Oh. A greek yogurt sauce sounds really good!!!
Those meatballs sound awesome! We get turkey/spinach/feta burgers from Earthfare and love those so I bet these would be right up our alley, too! 🙂
[…] I can say about these meatballs from Tina is that I don’t know why they’re not in my stomach already…but at least […]
I love meatballs! I have never tried adding goat cheese to them…definitely a must-do 🙂
meatballs are sooooooooooo good and goat cheese is soooooooooo good. i need these!
