10 Things To Miss About Vacation

Posted: June 18, 2011 at 9:40 am

Le sigh. We’re now on our way home from the beach. Why does the saying have to go “time flies when you’re having fun”? It’s so not fair!!! I know once I get home and get back into the normal swing of things I won’t miss it so much, but I need a day or so to reminisce my lovely beach moments – the ten things I will miss most in particular:

1) Drifting off on the beach to the sounds of the waves crashing on shore.

2) Built-in babysitters.

3) Spending precious moments with my G-Pa.

4) Having the three siblings together again.

5) Runs on the beach.

6) Watching the excitement and joy in my daughter’s eyes.

7) Having more time than a standard week to spend with this handsome man.

8) Dinners out to some of my favorite places to dine, all thanks to G-Pa.

Which also includes relaxing with some really good margaritas and craft beer a few nights. .

9) Being close enough to visit some special blog friends.

  1. Sounds like an awesome vacation, Tina! I am totally jealous of your run on the beach. Running on the beach is fun and relaxing at the same time…I love it!

  2. I agree with all of those points (minus the baby sitting, because well, I don’t have any kiddos yet haha!) Little M looks so adorable on the beach! Love her! 🙂

I miss the running on the beach when I leave…there’s something about exercising by the ocean…so calming and peaceful.

  3. Looks like you had such a great time! Good luck adjusting back to regular life–heh, that’s the hardest part about vacation for me. Motivating myself to go back to my normal schedule is hard!

  4. Kelly says:

I miss the vacation mentality the most. When I am away I don’t tend to stress out about real life. Then once I get back home it is like well hello stress! UGH!

    • Tina says:

I can relate to that! I just got home and am already tackling things to do. Mainly because I want to be able to relax tonight and then for Father’s Day tomorrow…but I’m still busy right when I step in the door.

  5. Safe trip back!
I usually just miss the casualness of the days on vacation. No cleaning the house, no worrying about dinner, etc.

  6. Colleen says:

What a fun trip, Tina! I always miss the relaxed pace on vacations and not knowing/caring what time it is!

  7. Tina I totally have that brown dress. I won’t divulge to your readers (or mine lol) what year we bought it 😛

  8. I love the picture of M. How cute!

  9. Jess says:

I miss the relaxation of vacations most!!

  10. Michelle says:

I miss not having a schedule every day — kinda taking the day as it is and rolling with it!

That is SWEETEST picture of Braedon sleeping. He has the most adorable, pinchable cheeks!

  11. Cara says:

Looks like you had a wonderful vacation! I always miss the vacation mentality and the leisure time spent merely with friends or family, whoever I go with!

  12. lindsay says:

i miss all those too! minus the babysitters. but I totally get that. Such a blessing.
Reality takes a week to get used to, right?!

  13. Heather says:

leaving vacation is the WORST torture! you plan and plan and get so excited and then its over just like that. I hate it! I always miss the fun times getting to hang out with my family. I’m sentimental like that.

  14. Looks like some amazing memories were made! The number one thing I miss about being on vacation is not working and/or worrying about things! I also enjoy the break from routines.

  15. It looks like you had a great time! If I’m leaving the beach, then I miss being near the sand and ocean, but if I’m leaving a general vacation I just miss being able to relax for long periods of time with the people that I love 🙂

  16. Karen says:

The picture of B sleeping on the beach is so cute! When my kids were really little, they always fell asleep to the sounds of the waves. I can’t blame them – it’s very relaxing!

What I miss most from vacation – the lack of schedule and never needing a watch because you just go with the flow.

  17. Erica says:

aw 🙂 What a great trip! The pictures of the kiddos are just awesome! I just love having all the time with Josh. So fabulous

  18. Angel7 says:

When leaving a vacation, I miss the endless family time we had, since you can spend hours on end with the family, and work is not in the picture.

  19. Julie says:

I always miss the freedom that comes with not having to think about work. Once vacation rolls around, I forget I ever even had a job.

  20. I think I miss not having a schedule the most. I love how on vacation you can just wake up whenever, go to the beach, do fun things, and not worry about having to be anywhere at a certain time!

  21. vivoir says:

aww i know what you mean- but i always have to tell myself (uh, or mum tells me straight!) that it only feels so good because it’s not the norm! so back to the same-old, same-old if we are ever to feel the release of vacation again!!!

    😀

  22. I always need a vacation to recover from my vacation 😀

  23. Lee says:

    Your trip sounds wonderful!

  24. Cynthia says:

I usually miss sleeping in when I get back from vacation. I love not having to set the alarm clock!

    • Tina says:

I think we actually slept in more this morning than we did on vacation. Part of having two sleeping children in the same room on vacay I guess. LOL

  25. I always miss the time I get to spend with the Husband. He’s really busy right now, so it’s likely I only see him for about 30 minutes a day right now!

  26. That is SUCH a cute picture of Baby B. Adorable:)

I wish I was able to run on the beach more when we were in Dominican in March! I’ll bet it was beautiful.

  27. Actually looking forward to waking up and starting the day early! Rather than dreading it 🙁
