It Would Be Easier…

Posted: August 9, 2011 at 7:00 am

It would be easier to not share my progress journey so publicly and avoid the commitment, chance for negative comments, and weird feelings about discussing my body’s changes in an open forum…

 (from the shirt shop!)

…but then I wouldn’t have the chance to receive such encouragement from all of you! Your comments and support in my recent Body After Baby progress post made my day yesterday. Thanks!

It would be easier to not be a mom, so I could have more free time, only have to work things around my schedule, and not have two individuals’ welfare dependent on me…

…but then I wouldn’t get welcomed with the biggest grins every morning, receive the coziest cuddles every night, feel my heart bursting with love on a daily basis.

It would be easier to eat frozen pizza for dinner every night…

IMGP0390

…but then I wouldn’t provide my body with all it needs and care for it with proper fuel to run efficiently and effectively. Plus, who wants to be deprived of twice baked protein potatoes on the menu for dinner tonight?

It would be easier to not be a Christian, so I wouldn’t have to find ways to set aside my natural selfish desires for more selfless ones, work on growth in my faith through study, trust someone over myself, or wake up early every Sunday morning to facilitate class…

…but then my life would lack the encompassing joy and peace that I have only ever known in a relationship with God through Christ. He saved me from my volatile self and the difference is night and day.

It would be easier to skip a workout to have an extra hour in the day…

…but then I wouldn’t know the strength, power, and beauty my body has to offer when I adequately care for it and challenge it.

It would be easier to not be a blogger so I could keep my thoughts to myself, not have to spend my children’s nap times typing until my fingers hurt, and entertain myself with manners that include far less responsibility…

…but then I would find a void in my soul where my dreams and passions used to reside.

I heard this random survey on the radio today - when asked if women would like more money or more time, 70% said more money. I would so have chosen more time. It would be easier to not do a lot of things and find that extra time, but at what cost? It would be easier, but it wouldn’t satisfy. Bring on the hectic life and challenges, for I know the richness they breathe into my days.

  • Your Turn: It would be easier to _______, but then _______________.
  • More Money or More Time? Which would you choose?

  1. Wow love this post Tina…so creative and insightful and love how it made me think about all I have to be grateful for 🙂

It would be easier to give up on trying to get pregnant, but then I would be letting go one of my and my husband’s greatest, passionate goals in life – to be parents to a child created from us, a creation that is so profound to me and one that I’m so thankful and excited to be able, and to hopefully one day, experience 🙂

Definitely more time! Especially when kids enter the picture! 🙂

  2. Karin says:

More time, no doubt about it. I too juggle a lot (p/t work, 2.5 year old, husband, house etc), and it would be so much nicer to have more time.

  3. I have way too much time on my hands! because I’m unemployed…
I’m so bored, I would way rather have more money so that I could find things to do with my time and do lots of fun stuff, and pay off my debt that I’m constantly worrying about!

  4. It would be easier to work full-time at my previous job as a PE teacher (more money, less stress, etc.), but then I wouldn’t be able to spend each day with my beautiful boys and live out my dreams (that are currently barely getting us by financially). I’m so with you- more time!!! 🙂 What a wonderful post Tina!

  5. Sarah says:

It would be so much easier to give into ED but then I’d never actually live my best life.

Definitely more time…money I have but I’d love more time doing things I love and spending time with the people I love.

  7. More time and more money please! lol

It would be easier to rid my life of technology, but then how would I communicate?! I am too dependent on my iphone!!

  8. Some things in life are just WORTH it! 🙂

  9. Love this post!

It would be easier to workout in the morning if I didn’t have to get up at 4:30!!!

  10. It would be easier to not run half marathon because then I would never have to train.

Right now…more money. If I could pay down some bills I’d feel a lot better! I’m sure once I’m a little older though, I will want more time!

  11. It would be easier to work a 9-5 job rather than a 7-5:30 job…but then I wouldn’t be nearly as happy as I am where I work 🙂

I would TOTALLY choose more time. I mean, I guess time doesn’t pay the bills, but it’s way more precious to me than money. Time gives you the ability to build things that last. Money gives you the ability to purchase things that don’t.

Wow…I love this post, Tina! I just rediscovered your blog and read through so much of it – thanks for your faithful posts!

It would be easier to use my free time while I’m in between jobs serving my own interests and desires, but then I wouldn’t experience the joy that comes from loving others and serving them.

It would be easier to give in to my own self, even when it comes to the self-interests of others, but then I wouldn’t be given the chance to work towards sanctification and watch Jesus change me!

It would be easier to stand in the kitchen on Sat mornings reading blogs and absent mindedly eating almond butter, but then…oh wait! I did that this morning. 😉 Have a great weekend!

Where The Change Happens

Posted: November 16, 2011 at 7:54 am

It’s kind of funny. I become a certified personal trainer and the first workouts I turn to this week come from someone else. The book came in for me at the library last week and, after flipping through it, I couldn’t wait to give the circuits a go. Making The Cut includes a lot of […]
