I Stuff My Bra

Posted: August 31, 2011 at 1:02 pm

I felt exceptionally nervous for today’s six mile speed run. And probably for a different reason than you think.

the pain. Oh, the pain! What would happen with a fast run? Could I handle it????

Okay. I may have gotten a little dramatic there. But I still had concerns about this morning’s workout – speed work, sore chest, bouncy bouncy. You put two and two together. And it for sure doesn’t look like Baywatch either.

I told you all that I have slowly been weaning Braedon for the past month. Well this week came the time to finally drop the last bit of pumping. My body’s supply had decreased to the point where I maybe got two ounces out of that pumping. I figured I would adapt quickly to dropping that final bit of milk. Ha!

While it certainly could be worse, the tatas are making themselves well known around here with the swelling, tightness, and tenderness. Oh sweet heavens that sounds straight out of a trashy romance novel. And it’s only about to get even less classy.

I have been doing all I can to ease the process and help it along…including stuffing my bra…with cabbage leaves. Yes, that bumpy mess you see in my shirt is a bra full of cabbage. Don’t come over for our stir fry dinner tonight! Winking smile

I have also done the tricks of taking Benadryl to help dry up (only thing that worked after M), strapping the suckers on lock down night and day, and avoiding anything and everything that can encourage milk production. Well, except for one thing I refuse to give up…

You would be crazy to think I would go days without my beloved morning breakfast. I’m already losing hair at an alarming rate thanks to the hormonal changes. Don’t take my oats, too!!

Oh, you didn’t know you lose hair too in this fun?

A wad of my hair after one shower. And don’t say I didn’t warn you about nasty pictures in this post! I guess I better stop before I go too far over the edge. The good Lord knows I have already frightened you enough with dinner invitations including cabbage and tacky Baywatch references. Hope you’re having a good day!

  • What’s the craziest “remedy” you have ever used?
  • What’s one food you could not give up even for a week?

I love your blog. I started following u less than a year ago and I find motivation from u everyday. I’ve suffered from anorexia and am now trying to gain weight. I’ve recently had to cut my workouts down which was hard to do but I’ve found I enjoy the days I go more now that I’m not overtraining. I’m considering going back inpatient which i hate to do being away from my hubby for a month but I keep adding food and my weights barely moving. I’m so frustrated and pray everyday that god will lead me in the right direction and help me to get healthy again. Thank you for being there everyday to motivate me and give me inspiration.

Wow, Amy. I am so humbled by your comment. It sounds like you have come so far already so huge kudos for that. I love your determination to do what you need to do to get healthy…even if that means some hard decisions. That is ALL you! I’m glad to hear my blog helps along the way…but you are the awesome one doing amazing things. Hugs!

  3. This was one of the funniest posts I’ve read in a while! You are so entertaining. Did the cabbage work??
The craziest “remedy” I have ever tried was the myth that lemon juice is suppose to get rid of freckles. This was when I was younger. I have grown up and learned to embrace them.
I could not live without oats either. Yogurt is also high up on the list.

  4. I’m sorry for your pain, but I LOVE this post-too funny! My most interesting remedy came when my last baby was breech and I tried any number of things to get him to turn including 1) moxibustion-basically holding a special lit “cigar” right next to my pinky toes for 20 minutes every night. That sucker was hot! and 2) standing on my head, ice packs and flashlights on my stomach and , classical music playing at my vagina-all at once. And I am not even remotely kidding or exaggerating. Unfortunately, he was stubborn and stuck and his birth resulted in a c-section despite all my best efforts.

Hope you have more success with the cabbage leaves than I did with lighting my toes on fire and standing on my head!

  5. Oh Tina! I didn’t start running until my youngest was 2, so I didn’t get to experience running with an engorged chest. I can only imagine.

  6. Don’t worry, my hair falls out like it’s its JOB when I’m in the shower. It’s okay, my hair is so thick that I welcome a few strands (or wads) coming out in the shower 🙂

  7. Missy says:

Cabbage? Imma have to google that one.
Hang in there girl — like your attitude.
If we’re not laughing we crying.

  9. I absolutely abhore the taste of cabbage, so I would use that home remedy in a heartbeat!

  10. Totally used cabbage as well when I weaned! It worked like a charm for me. And my hair also started falling out this week. I thought I was in the clear since Hunter is seven months old…. I had no idea that it would take that long for my hair so start falling out! I thought it would happen right away. So seeing your clumps made me relieved 🙂

  11. The cabbage leaves are so hilarious! I hope they helped provide some relief. I will have to remember that trick someday when I have kids!

  12. HA! I didn’t know all this stuff that helps. Good to know for when I’m done bf Peanut. I didn’t even realize that it could be this hard especially when the supply was so low!

  13. I STILL lose that much hair, a YEAR after weaning. It’s so ridiculous, seriously.
