There’s A Blogger In My Workout DVD

Posted: September 23, 2011 at 7:02 am

Good morning! It seems Friday snuck up on me again. The week started out a little low, but things have certainly turned around. I hope things are going well for each of you, too.

Even though I had a couple of unplanned rest days earlier in the week, I still embraced taking a rest day today. My body hurts! A lot more than I anticipated too.

While at the studio for the radio show with Dr. Fitness & The Fat Guy yesterday, they let me take home a few workout DVDs from a variety they had received. One of the videos I grabbed was Jari Love’s Get Ripped Revved To The Max workout.

IMGP1515-1

I had heard of Jari Love before, usually positive things, so I thought this DVD sounded good and ended up popping it in for some weights yesterday afternoon. I hadn’t done any strength training all week and didn’t have time after my treadmill interval run in the morning, A “heart-revving” circuit workout sounded like a perfect option.

And, oh goodness it was! The entire workout consisted of compound movements that worked the upper and lower body simultaneously with some balance moves thrown in for an additional challenge. I feel like I spent thirty minutes straight in either a squat or lunge position. Well, except for those few minutes switching between push-ups and tricep dips with no stopping. Ouch!

The video definitely did some things differently than I am used to in weight training, but different can certainly be good. Switching things up works! It also helps keep my attention, which can sometimes be hard for me with my workouts. I think something else kept my attention too, though. I kept thinking two of the backup-exercisers looked so much like some of my blog friends!

One of the chicks looked almost exactly like Paige and another looked like my favorite twins – Jolene and Jess. It was kind of creepy!

That isn’t the first time things like that have happened though. I see people who remind me of blog friends all. the. time. Occasionally I will even dream about you guys! I vividly remember one dream I had where I was on a cruise ship. I was walking around sad because I was supposed to be there with Peter, but for some reason he couldn’t make it and I decided to still go. I remember thinking how much I missed him and how boring a cruise could be alone…but then I stumbled into a large group of bloggers for a blogger vacation.

I can’t remember who all was specifically in the dream, but I know there was at least 50 of us and we were hanging out by the pool with some margaritas…then all went down a water slide. Now, how awesome would that be to happen in real life?! Although if any of you plan a cruise vacation, you better invite me. Should it offend me I wasn’t originally invited in my dream? Haha!

So, yea. I guess you all are always on my mind, even when I’m sweating it out or sleeping. It makes sense when you see pictures of people regularly and connect with them multiple times a day. Or when you just love your blog friends so much.  Smile

  • Do other people remind you of blog friends? Ever dream about blog friends?
  • Ever done a Jari Love workout?

  1. Um, I think I see bloggers ALL the time. And whenever something funny happens, I always think “Oh I can’t wait to tell “so and so” this!!” It’s kind of weird, but I love it.

  2. I haven’t tried those workout DVDs, but you know I’m always in the market for new ones.

I have dreamt about blog friends before, it’s kind of funny!

  3. Jess says:

That is a RIOT!! I’m totally going to collagevideo.com to see if I can find a clip of that video to see these look-alikes you worked out with today. That is so freakin’ funny, I love it!! Oh – and I’ve TOTALLY had dreams about blog friends, probably more often than I’d care to admit…I think it’s because I really do connect with you all so much more than many of my IRL friends that you often come to mind, even when sleeping! 🙂

    • Jobo says:

Ha!! That is hysterical 😉 I definitely dream about my blog friends sometimes too! So cute that you were reminded of us. Love it!!

  4. I love changing up my workouts and compound exercises are killer! I do consider many bloggers to be good friends of mine, so yeah, people and things do remind me of them often. I’m glad this week ended on a high for you Tina! I hope you have a great day!

  5. Lee says:

I had a dream recently that Caitlin of HTP told me my bra didn’t fit correctly and that I should buy new ones. I realize that sounds incredibly odd and creepy.

  6. ha! the dream thing is hilarious…i have the most random ones (nothing gross thank goodness) about people from work and college, but nothing about bloggers yet. although your dream sounds fun!

  7. I dream about blog things all the time! Haha 🙂

  8. I have 3 of her DVDs and used those before I found Cathe. My only complaint is that her form was always soooo sloppy and after a while 100 curls is just over kill. But, that’s just me. I still have the DVDs collecting dust now.

  9. I’ve done one Jari Love workout dvd and I loved it — I only wish I had a step so I could do all of the moves they do. I get one from Netflix once in a while.

  10. I’ve never done a Jari Love DVD before, but I definitely want to now that you made it sound like such a great workout! I’m usually a big fan of Jillian Michaels’ workout DVDs because they truly are challenging. Others I’ve tried are strange or they aren’t as challenging as I’d like.

  11. Need to switch up my workout DVD’s…I still have Billy Blanks on repeat (although I still love it!)

  12. Mellissa says:

I often have dreams about bloggers, so strange! Its interesting how much you know about someones life when you’ve never even met them in person.

    • Tina says:

That is always so weird to me too. How we can know each other so well…but at the same time not really know each other. Love you and all my blog buds though!

  13. I dream about bloggers all the time. In fact, before I started mine I remember waking up and thinking “ok, this is ridiculous, you obviously spend WAY too much time reading about other people’s lives!” haha

  14. I’ve never done one of her DVD’s. I’m interested to try it though!

  15. cheryl says:

i don’t “see” them, but i am embarased at how easily i’ll refer to a blogger i follow as a friend.

i have a few actual friends who blog (incl. lee…i think it was her blog that led me here via a comment or blogroll or something)…but most i haven’t/won’t know personally. it is kind of a shorthand (“my friend said” vs “the gal who writes this blog that i have on my google blogger dashboard”) but it is probably also about being home a lot and having met friends via an online forum before so being more susceptible to internet friending

  16. Khushboo says:

I havent even met any of the bloggers who I read yet have dreamt about a few of them!!

  17. Ha! I *wish* it were me!! 🙂 I actually really like the Jari Love workout DVD’s – but I haven’t tried this one.

I totally think I see bloggers everywhere + have dreams about them too… usually it’s the ones I’ve met and talk with on a regular basis, but it still really is creepy/weird!

  18. I’ve never heard of Jari Love but it sounds like it was a great workout! 😀

  19. Heather says:

Jari Love’s gym is my gym! She and her husband own it and her classes and videos are AWESOME!!! Its cool when I see her mentioned in different places. She’s been mentioned in Oprah magazine and other places so she definitely gets noticed! I love her workouts and she is super sweet

  20. I think people think I’m weird when I talk about things bloggers said or I start laughing at my computer screen by myself!

    • Tina says:

I do that all the time. I bust out laughing at a blog post from someone or a random tweet. Peter has learned to just not ask. LOL

  21. Haha, I also have bloggers pop up in my dreams! So funny! And I agree, a cruise with a bunch of blog buddies sounds fantastic! Sign me up 🙂

That DVD sounds great. I have a hard time finding a challenging one, so I’ll have to look for that.

  22. Brittany says:

This is funny, but true! Sometimes I think I see a blogger out and I’m like wtf I live in another state. That dvd sounds awesome, I haven’t found a great one I really like!

  23. I actually thought I saw another ATL blogger the other day and turns out I was right. Workout DVD’s are the perfect workout when you have just enough time for a quick something and can’t drive to and from the gym!

  24. Dreams can be so crazy and I love them for it! I just wish I could remember them more often.

I don’t dream of blogger friends because I’ve never met any in person, but I certainly think I see people I know all the time. It’s a little embarrassing to go up to someone and then when you see them close up, they’re not who you think they are.

  25. Alyse says:

I’ve looked into Jari Love but I wasn’t sure that I would like her. The video I previewed had girls in leather looking workout clothes and the first thing Jari said was “Feel the burn!”, which I can’t stand, haha. I can tell from your review she deserves another shot. I’ll check out this one on collagevideo.

    • Tina says:

Oh goodness! I would have turned running seeing leather workout wear too. She isn’t quite as serious as my favorite Cathe, and her form isn’t top notch on some thigns, but I definitely felt the workout gave a good challenge and liked it more than I expected.

  26. The way my reader is configured, I often read Meghann’s blog right before bed. I have had 2 dreams about her. so. weird. and hilarious!! Also, whenever I am shoe shopping I think of amy from gazelles on crack.

  27. Ha – that’s funny! I JUST dreamed about the Anderson girls last night. It’s funny when you start dreaming more of your blog friends than your IRL friends!

  28. Leah says:

Hi Tina, what brand are the shorts you are wearing in the photo with the girls? I like ’em!

    • Tina says:

They are C9 by Champion. I got them from Target just before the trip and know they still have them. Pretty sure they would have them online too. 🙂

  29. I haven’t tried anything by Jari Love. I’ll have to check her out. Some of the best videos I’ve done are TurboFire by Chalene Johnson. She’s a little ball of energy! I love her workouts!
