“Yum” Sums It Up

Posted: October 26, 2011 at 7:04 am

I am not a food blogger. Yet, I still take pictures of most things I eat because I never know when I might want to use something in a post. I snap two or three quick shots and move on my merry way. I like having photos of meals I deem worthy of sharing…but you better believe I’m not letting it get in the way of my eating. No cold food or sparing my precious dining seconds around here, people!

I could just not bother…but more often than not, I find myself thankful for my quick photo snapping. This morning, I appreciated the photo habit because, when uploading my pics, I realized I had quite the delicious day yesterday.

Picasa1

“Delicious” being code word for “my favorite fall foods”. I should be orange by now! Or at least not so ghostly white. When can I expect that beta carotene to kick in? Winking smile

I bet you think that means I started my day off with some pumpkin oats. Oh ho ho! You are sorely mistaken. I actually didn’t have oats at all!

I had a savory craving…more accurately a hot pepper jelly craving…and I obliged.

IMGP2383-1

I put together a sandwich with an egg, pepperjack cheese, hot pepper jelly, and spinach on whole grain and seed bread.

IMGP2384-1

Does that not look like perfection? It sure does to me! Just as Honeycrisp apples scream perfection to me as well with their perfect crispiness and sweet, yet tart, bite.

When lunchtime rolled around I continued the fall theme unawares, as I pulled out leftovers from our dinner the previous night.

Tonight's dinner features quinoa, butternut squash, and apple goods. Gonna be good!

It doesn’t look incredibly appetizing (especially straight from the tupperware) but I promise you this combo kicks butt. Ninja

IMGP2381-1

The mix:

  • regular ole quinoa cooked in vegetable broth for extra flavor
  • a Trader Joe’s apple chicken sausage
  • cubed, roasted butternut squash
  • a dollop of Daisy Spiced Apple Chutney

Such an easy, fast, and FLAVORFUL dinner! With good leftovers too! #drool

Now onto snack…a mix I promise you will want to get your hands on, if you haven’t already that is!

You all already know my undying devotion to this company.

IMGP2303-1

Love Grown granola became the apple of my eye (stomach?) yet again.

IMGP2305-1

I took a plain container of Oikos Greek yogurt and tossed in a whopping spoonful or two of canned pumpkin. I swirled that all up with some Cocoa Bean NuNaturals drops and grabbed my bag of Cocoa Goodness granola.

After a couple greedy handfuls straight to  my mouth, I topped my pumpkin yogurt and had the perfect harmony of flavors.

IMGP2307-1

The only thing missing? A side of my pumpkin hot chocolate. Oh me, oh my…imagine that coupling for a snack. Forget happy hour with a beer…I want snack time with this! Is it 3 o’clock yet?

I need to work on my photo skills!

Last thing that made me said yum was chocolate hazelnut tea that I had last night!

    Have a great day! xo

  2. Khushboo says:

Yum day indeed! THe last thing that made me go yum was toast topped with a ‘cheesecake’ dip: Greek yogurt mixed with strawberry fruit preserves & pom seeds!

  3. For not being a “food blogger” you had some mighty delicious eats yesterday!! And I absolutely love spicy something on my eggs. Really pretty much anything… salsa, hot sauce, etc.

The last thing I made that had me going “yum” more than usual was probably some pumpkin pancakes I made over the weekend or some mashed potatoes I made for Sunday dinner 😀

  4. the burrito i had yesterday for lunch…’twas a burrito kind of day and it hit the spot!

  5. Katie @ Raisins&Apples says:

Well, I didn’t actually eat it BUT my friend was telling me how she put nutella and raspberry jam in her oats and I definitely said YUM

  6. I made warm orange cinnamon millet with dates and topped it off with cold soy milk and soy yoghurt this morning! That made me say yum (over and over possibly annoying my coworkers!)

  7. Lee says:

I like the granola on the leaves picture. Very fall! When I was in Charlotte last weekend, I had a veggie burger on a salad that was so good.

  8. Mmmmm… I bet the chutney was awesome with the squash! But I think everything is awesome with squash – lol!

  9. The chutney sounds like an awesome way to spruce up the squash. Yum. I just finished my typical oatmeal breakfast and said yum to myself 😉

  10. jobo says:

Um, yum to the chicken sausage bowl of yummy goodness you made!! Looks so good!! Now I need to go make my oatmeal…yummy goodness all around!!

  11. Mmm Honeycrisp apples are my favorite too! The last thing that made me say “yum” was my pumpkin spice bagel this morning topped with smashed banana and pumpkin. I consider them an “extra” grocery item, which we don’t normally buy, but I gave in yesterday at the store. I’m so glad I did too!

  12. Brownies last night definitely had me saying “yum!” Delicious day of eats! Happy WIAW 🙂

  13. I think you are not giving yourself credit Tina… with pictures like that, I’d say you are a food blogger! I love the idea of pumpkin hot chocolate. I have been on quite the hot chococlate kick lately. I added almond extract last night for a new spin.

  14. yummy eats for sure! I’ve never tried that sausage before, but I KNOW that Travis would approve. Why can’t I live closer to the city!?!

  15. I love taking pictures of my food and spend more time on them. I usually make recipes I want to post on the weekend and have more time to work on things! For my WIAW posts, they pretty basic pictures that I don’t put too much effort into!

  16. You just cannot beat a perfect Honey Crisp. I seem to be eating them EVERY day this year– I can’t get enough!! My baby might come out as an apple 🙂

  17. My mom brought me some pepper jelly about 8 months ago. It’s still all sealed up in the jar. Maybe I should dig it out and finally give it a chance. 🙂

My latte this morning made me say yum! The lady at McDonald’s always sounds surprised that I don’t want flavor in it, but I just like the taste of latte!

  18. julia says:

I just had some sauteed peppers and onions (fresh from my sister’s garden!) with two poached eggs and three slices of ham. I dreamed about it all night!

  19. Holy deliciousness! My mouth is watering. That egg, spinach, and pepperjelly sandwich looks divine!

  20. these are some seriously good eats! pumpkin + yogurt = best combo. with chocolate granola on top?! that sounds amazing 🙂

  21. Jess says:

Um. How about “drool” sums it up? I am DYING over here. That sandwich looks amazing. MUST get some hot pepper jelly asap!! I’m totally making an egg sandwich for my lunch tomorrow after reading about yours here. WIth a fresh juicy apple on the side of course. Yummy!! (and yes, I’m already excited about lunch tomorrow…haha)

  22. chocolate granola with pumpkin yogurt?? oh my goodness! why have i never thought of that?? yum!

  23. Last night I made a smoothie that tasted like a dreamciscle — so good!

    1 cup OJ
1 cup sparkling orange cream flavored water
    1 tbsp vanilla protein powder
    1/2 tsp xantham gum

It may have been the best smoothie ever!

  24. I have been having pumpkin oats with cottage cheese lately for breakfast. The cottage cheese gets melty and adds a protein punch to the mix. It is SO good (and I just had a bowl).

  25. I know you are not a food blogger, but you still take some rather impressive photos of your eats… yum to so many of the items here 🙂
I had a rather perfect bowl of pumpkin oatmeal with regular old almond butter the other morning and it made me say “yum” it was a delight on a chilly morning

  26. My breakfast this morning was AMAZING and so simple. Scrambled egg whites with hot sauce and a slice of multigrain bread from a local bakery. I don’t know why it was so good, but it was!

  27. Ok, I really need to buy some Trader Joe’s sausage.

My dinner last night was probably the best meal I’ve eaten in awhile. It was so simple too, fried eggs on polenta. That was the best idea I’ve ever had. 🙂

  28. can I have ALL of that? seriously. I’ve been debating grabbing the TJ’s apple chicken sausage, but seeing the inside has kinda sold me on it.

and LGF cocoa goodness + vanilla greek yogurt has been in my belly since I got the package. I’m going to have a meltdown when this stuff is gone.

  29. those east look delicious! I love all different kinds of chutney! YUM. And that yogurt granola combination..looks heavenly!
The last thing that made me say yum was my morning bowl of oatmeal..the best part about it was the combination of white chocolate pb and co peanut butter and pumpkin pecan butter..YUM

  30. That egg sandwich looks amazing. I’ve been craving savory lately too for breakfast and eggs are always the perfect thing for that.
The last thing I made that I said yum over was ravioli with meat sauce. A little cheese sprinkled over the top really made it a bowl of comfort food. So good!

  31. Kiah says:

Not to be redundant, but I love me some Love Grown. I even put some m&ms in it and had it as a trail mix at work. YUM.

  32. I love quinoa mixtures. I love love grown. and I love honey crisp. I guess you could say I love everything posted ;D haha

  33. Your dinner looks delish, Tupperware and all! I frequently avoid taking pictures of my food because so much of it is eaten out of Tupperware and it just doesn’t do the food justice. I’m hoping in my new apartment Ill have more space (and somehow find more time?) to make my food look pretty 🙂

I had some apple slices that i dipped in creamy natural pb. The secret YUM was that I added cinnamon to the pb. Amazing.

  34. Heather says:

The egg sandwich is really making me hungry and I just had my afternoon snack at work.

  35. My salad today! It was Kale with roasted kombucha squash, roasted carrots (of all different colors!), avocado, and Annie’s mango dressing!

  36. Ela says:

Yum–was a plum! A late-season black plum with yellow flesh that was just at the perfect ripeness… No photo, alas…

  37. Dorry says:

I’m pretty much obsessed with Love Grown Cocoa Goodness. I think it’s one of my top 5 favorite things to eat these days. I had a delicious dinner with kale, zucchini, mushrooms, lentils, quinoa and marinara. One of my go-to easy combos.

  38. The Love Grown granolas look so good but I never find them in my area. 🙁

    • Tina says:

The people at Love Grown always tell me to let people looking for it know to request it at their stores. that’s one of the best ways to help get the ball rolling. To let the store know there is an interest in the product. And I know Love Grown is HARD at work extending where it is sold. You can always reach out to them as well. 🙂
