Trading Spanish for Laughs

Posted: January 21, 2010 at 1:18 am

What did my day look like today? Plan, plan, plan! But it was all good and enjoyable planning. The bulk of my day was having lunch at my friend's house while we planned one of our best gals' baby shower. Our Sunday school class is a baby making MACHINE! Let's see. 6 women, 5 tots under 2, and 2 more on the way. Yea. We are popping them out like a log flume ride. Although it's insanely awesome that we get to go through it all pretty much together and have our kids grow up together. Here is a picture of all of us at my own baby shower.

September 2008

I have to say that I am so so so excited to be helping to plan this shower. My good friend Angie (on the far right) and her husband waited a long time (2.5 years) for this to come. With patience and faith, God blessed them naturally with the little girl they are awaiting. It's so amazing and it brings me pure joy to help celebrate this special time in her life.

Other planning that occurred was preparation for this Sunday's lesson and discussion for our Goodlife class. This planning is fruitful because it serves as a way for me to learn more and grow my own faith. I will be sharing about this in my Goodlife Sunday post this weekend, of course. 🙂

The final part of my plan plan plan day was preparing some practice lessons for the kid I tutor. Before my stay at home mommy days I was a Spanish teacher and tutor now on the side for some easy extra dough. Luckily, I didn't spend TOO much time working on today's practice cards and drills because I got a call about 5 minutes before the student was due to arrive saying he wasn't going to make it. At first I was annoyed, but then I looked at it as an opportunity to play with my family.

We rolled the ball and scattered flashcards,

hung upside down,

and laughed. A lot.

Now, that M is exhausted she is off to bed. And now that I am done planning, time to relax with some blogs and my book. As much as I love my Monday night Bachelor and Tuesday night The Biggest Loser and all the drama they bring, I do enjoy having a non TV night. I hope each of you have just as relaxing a night!

  • Do you have any nights that you don't have anything to do or watch? How do you occupy your time?
  • Do you like planning and organizing things? Or does it stress you out?
  • Do you know any foreign languages? Spanish is all I got, but I would love love love to know French or Italian.

I have tried to schedule more low key nights, I have had years of being scheduled from 5am to 10pm and its nice to come home and not have something looming over me.

I am a huge planner and organizer 🙂

Just Spanish for me but I would love to learn more!

Your daughter is so beautiful! She must be bringing you constant joy.
    1. I wish I had more relaxed nights; I usually go out to play tennis, or do groceries shopping or watch some TV series I am addicted to. 🙂
    2. I love planning and anticipating events sometimes more than whole events themselves. 🙂
    3. I speak quite a few but that’s given when you are growing up in Europe where everyone speaks different language. I would love to learn French.

  4. This is my first time visiting your blog. Hello 😀 Love it! Your family is gorgeous. And you and all of the other moms in your group are all so blessed:)

Now that you’ve switched I can finally comment on your blog!

    1. Friday nights are usually our lazy nights where we aren’t busy getting ready for the work day, and don’t have any plans with friends or at church. LOVE those nights!
    2. Planning and organizing is the ONLY way I can function! NOT having a plan stresses me out!
    3. Nope no foreign languages, never had the desire either.

  6. Those pics of Mackenzie are adorable. I smiled just thinking about all of that cute baby laughter!

Congrats to your friend, that is a long time to try and I’m sure it was so hard for them.

Do you have any nights that you don’t have anything to do or watch? How do you occupy your time?- Not really since I work until around 8 or have class until around 8. Lately i’ll spend any free time tidying or cooking!

Do you like planning and organizing things? Or does it stress you out?- I’m a TOTAL planner. I plan everything and carry my planner everywhere!

Do you know any foreign languages? Spanish is all I got, but I would love love love to know French or Italian.- I used to speak Italian pretty fluently but have lost my touch over the years. I’m so-so at Spanish too.

    Have a great day Tina!

Hi Tina! So happy that you stopped by my blog- I’m glad I found yours! 😀

I am actually going to be planning a baby shower for my sister-I have a few things planned already like a diaper cake, toys as decorations- if you have any tips, I would love to know!

I love Biggest Loser and Bachelor as well- but it’s great to have a non-tv night as well and read a book 🙂

hey girl! wow! awesome about the kids. Have fun planning the baby shower. Sounds like it will be great! Im usually pretty busy at night, after work i make some din then sit down and relax with my hubs. i end up reading or finding something to do! I get up early in the morning so I go to bed early too. I used to plan like crazy although now im kinda relaxing on that a bit. Fun to just let life happen as it may! I used to be fluent in french but i lost it a bit. Would love to catch up on it though. Ive been trying to teach myself spanish as well.
    Have an awesome night!

  10. LOVE the pics as always tina!! there are certainly nights that I dont have anything to do and I LOVE it! I take ME time and relax, surf the web and watch reruns of sex and teh city!! its the bestt

I ALWAYS love to plan things, being the creature of habit that I am, I get extremely anxious or stressed when I don’t know whats happening next, which I work on each and everyday. It is one of my flaws

i would love to be fluent in spanish one day!!
