in a nutshell

Posted: August 20, 2010 at 6:54 pm

Because even my brain shuts down, this post will be speedy. A summary of my day and thoughts in a nutshell.

SMILES
All the comments from my post on Finding My Blog Voice really made my morning. Then, I saw quite a few more people signed on to support the 30 Days of Self-Love. And a few gals even added the button! Y’all rock!

YOGA
Oh yoga class how I love thee. I stretched myself out and even got in some chill time since one section I couldn’t do. Laying on my stomach would not be too comfortable right now.

WRITE WHEN I DON’T WANT TO
Normally writing invigorates me. Today, it killed any of the energy I fledged out from yoga. I hate doing something because I have to. But…I knew I needed to crank out an Examiner article, so I did. Click to read! Today I would appreciate that mucho mucho.

PLAY GAMES + WORK ON SUNDAY STUDY PLANS
How am I soooo sluggish today to not get anything done? I normally have enough time in the morning and during M’s nap to bang out quite a bit of work. Today I had to roll over the planning into our play time. I hate doing that. I want to be present with my goofball daughter.

CRAVINGS, CRAVINGS, CRAVINGS
Apparently Wednesday’s McDonald’s cravings were just the tip of the iceberg. Or I unleashed a demon by giving in to the grease. I want sugar. And I want it bad! And I don’t want it in the form of apples, blackberries, bananas, or cereal which are the only options we have in the house. I lift my fist to you Heather and your brownies. Making me all sorts of woozy with desire. For the brownies. I love you and all girl, but the brownies get my flirty looks.

Image from Heather’s Dish – amazing blog!

Hmmm…perhaps the potluck gathering I’m attending tonight despite exhaustion isn’t such a bad idea. They have to have dessert! Right?!

  • Give me your day in a nutshell.
  • What are you currently craving?

My day in a nutshell – very tired but feeling more hopeful than in a long time.

    I’m craving? chocolate!

I just published my blog post and put the button on my blog!
    love
    Ela

  2. Tina they will TOTALLY have dessert. I say if you are exhausted to skip it. To me, rest is more important.

My day in a nutshell – work was great, I got alot done, rearranged my workspace, cleaned and organized. Came home pooped, decided to lay down for 10 minutes and it turned into 2 hours! Now I’m eating dinner and can’t wait for bedtime. My body needs sleep!

    • Tina says:

      I got my dessert. 😀

And I wish I could have skipped, but it was a potluck/info meeting on something important that I couldn’t miss. I had fun though…then came home and crashed!

  3. Camille says:

I am craving a repeat on all the pretzels I ate today. So full! 🙂

  4. ashleigh says:

I had an awesome day! It started out stressful at work and ended up being a fabulous day once I got out LOL

I am so full right now that I’m not really craving anything, except for that delicious looking brownie 🙂

  5. That brownie looks amazing! So now I am craving chocolate since I saw that picture!

Hope you have a good time at the potluck!

    Chelsea

  6. Shayna says:

My day in a nutshell – water main break on my way to work = late, long boring-ness, nap at the beach for lunch, more long boring-ness, pizza, vegetarian market 🙂

Cravings? I have been eating more pizza than I thought humanly possible lately. Although, I might be willing to trade for one of them brownies 😉

    • Tina says:

I don’t think I could ever get sick of pizza. As long as its quality and I can mix up the toppings, I’m set. Love pizza!

  7. Sandra says:

Oh yeah, I’d be craving that yummy brownie too! Once you unleash the demon, right…I hear ya!

  8. sophia says:

Currently craving sleep. But still eating. Eating cream cheese, cashew butter, and ham sandwiches right now.

Shopped at Costco today. Unpacked. Unpacked. Unpacked.

  9. I hear ya on the cravings, but really, right now, you have no control over what your body wants. My sister only wanted fried foods in her first trimester, which is not like her AT ALL. It is so funny how things like that happen.

As for my day, I took my youngest to Georgia Tech for a video shoot all day. It was quite the experience for him and so much excitement!

I hope you got your treats for that sweet tooth last night! Have a great weekend!

    • Tina says:

Pregnancy cravings and food changes always amaze me too. I definitely enjoy things I wouldn’t normally and don’t care for usual favorites.

Sounds like a really interesting day. What was the video shoot for?

      • He was shooting a video for the Alumni group. He was playing the part of a grandson of one of the top donors of the college. It was a really great experience for him. He is interested in performing arts and while I am not into pushing the boys into anything in particular and I don’t do the hard core stuff, I like to give them little opportunities with no pressure so they can see how they really like it. Besides, if acting is something he likes, doing fun things to start with and learn from is a way that he can enjoy it. If that makes since.

  10. My day yesterday was work (hectic and swamped), Whole Foods at lunch (so I didn’t have to go after work), happy hour with the hubs, making pizza and playing pool then watching Food Network.

Right now I am craving a yogurt mess: Greek yogurt, bananas, liquid vanilla stevia, cinnamon, PB & Kashi Toasted Berry Crumble.

  11. I am actually craving a smoothie which is good. I had a few less then stellar days last week so I am trying to get back on track with some clean eating.

  12. homecookedem says:

My day in a nutshell was busy and stressful since it was the last day at school to prepare for the kids on Monday. But it all got done and now I’m relaxed again and ready to see you in an hour and a half!! 🙂

Luckily for me, I’m craving stir fry!! 🙂

  13. Ameena says:

I am currently craving that amazing brownie in your photo…it looks delicious. This woudn’t be so odd if it weren’t 7:45 am!

I am so with you on the writing thing, sometimes I just don’t have the energy but I have no option!

    Have a great weekend Tina!

  14. I’m craving that brownie at the moment! 😉

Actually, for some reason I’ve had Dairy Queen blizzards on the brain lately. Apparently they now have a mini size, which would be perfect!

  15. Becky says:

I’m craving carbs – rice, pasta, potatoes, bread. After 14 miles, all I want is carbs!

  16. well, i always crave pizza…anytime anywhere. and my day in a nutshell is baby shower, workout, write, cook, sleep. should be fun 🙂

  17. Katie says:

I never really thought about not being able to lay on my stomach! I love to..but it would be worth it for a little one! 🙂

Your tummy is adorable btw! 🙂

  18. I love seeing your adorable bump:) So much cuter than my big one haha.

    • Tina says:

Well that is a picture from almost a month ago. I was too lazy to take a new one. LOL It’s more bump now that’s for sure.

  19. “And I don’t want it in the form of apples, blackberries, bananas, or cereal” <– haha sometimes you just want sugar in the form of chocolate 🙂

    Your baby bump is adorable!

  20. I’m on an eating spree right now on my mini-vacation. i had fast food and bratwurst yesterday, pancakes, donuts and pizza today, and probably ice cream and steak for dinner!

  21. May I suggest… full fat plain Greek yogurt (I love Voskos of course) mixed with your own honey. Eat very slowly… it’s almost as decadent as ice cream but much better for you!

Oh, and the Examiner article is excellent. I would never have been able to tell that you forced yourself to write it.

  22. That photo of Mackenzie is so so so cute!
So far my day in a nutshell has been:
    – Sleep till 8:30
    – Clean room and unpack from weekend trip to Windsor
    – Prep for my spin class
    – Teach my spin class
    – Shower
    – Breakfast
    – Read blogs.
Can’t complain so far! Currently… I’m craving lunch!

  23. Hayley says:

That has to be one of my most favorite pictures of M…she is too dang cute!!! I’m totally digging the sunglasses, too. 🙂

You look so cute! I don’t even think I could tell you’re pregnant…nope – I just looked again – I really can’t tell! I can so relate to the cravings thing though. I find that as soon as I start eating or drinking something that I don’t normally have I want it ALL THE TIME!! When my mom made Tres Leches while she was here I found myself digging for sweets 24/7 once it was all gone. Then I started eating the leftover Townhouse crackers we had in our pantry (something we never normally have) and I wanted salty crackers or Ritz with peanut butter all the time! Yet as soon as I stop eating that stuff for a few days I find myself wanting it less and less. It’s funny how that works sometimes…

Still – I’m definitely not one for deprivation! Sometimes all it takes is a picture of food and I find myself craving it all the time. I saw those Sloppy Joe’s on Em’s blog and last night in bed I think I was dreaming about them… he he he!
