a breath of fresh air

Posted: October 1, 2010 at 5:00 pm

Last night and again this afternoon I got outside. The husband, little M, the belly, and I headed out for some nice walks in the crisp fall air. We walk and walk for about an hour just soaking in the glorious scene of fall.

Seriously, I’m in love with fall. Breathing in the fresh air allows me to slow down and just enjoy the moment. I can’t wait for the many other outdoor activities we have coming our way! I even finagled having M’s birthday party outside at a park. Holy cow! It’s been TWO years?! How did that happen? Before I know it I’m going to be marrying her off to this guy.

Okay…breathe, Tina. Breathe. Breathe in the fresh air. There, that’s better.

I also had to focus on breath today. I headed to my favorite Friday yoga class at the gym. It felt amazing and helped calm me down. You see, I got some exceptionally exciting news this morning.

Pumpkin Pie

The pumpkin pie blizzard is out for October!!! I only slightly exaggerate my excitement. 😉 Even though I know I could probably whip up something similar and healthier at home with some banana soft serve, pumpkin, and graham crackers, I don’t care. Maybe I will try that come November when my favorite DQ treat disappears again. Until then, all bets are off as Peter & I  get a Blizzard of the Month with a BOGO coupon once a month if its a flavor we really like. The pumpkin though may call for an extra visit…or two.

I regrouped nicely enough though to make a healthy lunch. You know. Just in case tonight calls for the inaugural dining on above mentioned sweet. I had a sandwich repeat again. I may be slightly addicted to this tomato, hummus, cheese, onion, etc sandwich. This time with a mashed up sweet potato.

It may not look pretty, but it sure tastes good. And I just realized something. I might turn orange for my love of pumpkin and sweet potatoes. Oh no. I can’t pull off orange like some.

Breathe, Tina. Breathe. Hehehoo. Hehehoo. At least I’m getting good breathing practice for mid-January. 😉 Maybe I should look into bottling the fall air to help me relax then. Or at least look into saving a pumpkin pie blizzard for the hospital. Hmmm?

  • What about fall re-energizes you?
  • Do you like DQ blizzards? If so, what’s your fave?

  1. i just love the cold, brisk air. it’s really amazing how great it feels to breathe in cold air! i love it…well, that and the great fall foods…so hearty and delicious 🙂

  2. Oh my gosh! I’ve never seen the pumpkin blizzard but I live across the street from a DQ and I will be trying this!! Thank you for contantly enlightening me about the wonders of the world!! (Ps- I’m loving my morning green monsters, thanks for explaining them to me!!)

    • Tina says:

If you like pumpkin pie, you should like the blizzard. Be careful though with one that close. It might became a waistline hazard. 😉

  3. Pumpkin blizzard at home: now you’re talking. I’m quite lucky that there is no Dairy Queen in my area. It would be far too tempting. ENJOY IT though!

I love snuggling in blankets, breathing in the crisp air, and hot drinks, like tea and lattes.

  4. Lisa says:

hahaha snookie! This post made me laugh! Thats such a great idea to make your own pumpkin blizzard. I may have to steal that recipe from youu and put it on my blog! Of course, I would give you credit though! =)

  5. Can you believe I’ve never had a blizzard? We don’t have many dairy queens here, so that’s why. The cooler weather def reenergizes me!

  6. I adore pumpkin pie blizzards. They are soooooooo good. Don’t put it off Tina, go get one! And LOL at M and her future husband. You crack me up.

  7. I’m dairy intolerant, so no DQ for me — but pumpkin (soy) lattes = omg. Luckily I haven’t had any miscellaneous sugar all day, yet. 😉

  8. Lee says:

It’s so nice out. I feel like fall just makes me want to be outside. Whereas in the summer, I just want to be in the air conditioning.

I haven’t had a DQ blizzard in a really long time. I do like them though. Maybe I should remedy that this weekend.

    • Tina says:

Thats how I am too. I don’t care for the intense heat unless I’m at the beach. Its so nice to be able to go outside again with M to play.

  9. Shannon says:

A pumpkin Blizzard?! I need to find a DQ!! I usually love a chocolate Blizzard with brownie and PB cups….but pumpkin would have me changing things up!

I love fall. I love the foliage, picking apples, and wearing just a sweater and no jacket 🙂

  10. Of anything I miss without dairy…it is frozen yogurt/blizzards! This will sound bad, but when I was pregnant with Jay, I ate one at least 3 times a week. Oh how I miss thee…let me count the ways! I have never tried the pumpkin pie one, but gosh that sounds amazing! I am a huge pumpkin lover and have to ration myself because my skin tone takes to the yellow a little too well!

Fall makes me think of pumpkins/apples/cornbread dressing…oh how I love fall!

  11. I really do not like cold weather at all. I think 70 is bordering on too cool. But the cooler temps are nice for being able to run outside during the day – so that is re-energizing for me.

  12. I was at DQ with a friend earlier this evening to get the Pumpkin Pie blizzard! But that location won’t be getting it until tomorrow 🙁 I still got one: the strawberry golden oreo. It was so delicious. And I love the new mini size — it is perfect!

    • Tina says:

I would have been so mad!! One time when pregnant with M I had a craving for pumpkin pancakes and the place was out. I teared up. No joke. I guess its good I didn’t go tonight in case they told me the same thing. LOL

  13. Do I like DQ Blizzards?! Give me a spoon, stat, and I’ll show you how much I love them! I love the cookie dough one the best…come to think of it, it’s been YEARS since I’ve had a Blizzard. (Quick, I better add that to my post-comp treat list HAHA!)

  14. Natalie says:

I haven’t had a pumpkin pie blizzard but I have a feeling I would like it a little 🙂 There’s something about the Blizzard that is so good!!!

  15. Katie says:

Sooo what kind of camera do you have bc your pics are great!!!? Especialy the one of Snookie haha jk. Time does fly! I feel like I just found out my sister was pregnant last month and my nephew is 3 months now 🙁 … wanna see him?

    • Katie says:

      don’t mind my spelling error

    • Tina says:

I have a Pentax K-X dSLR camera which I use on manual mode usually with the standard lens. I do love that camera. It’s similar to a Canon Rebel xsi but also has video features.

Off to check out the little man now. 🙂

  16. hahaha love the Snooki comment! I may turn orange too!!!

  17. Pumpkin pie blizzard? I need to experience this for myself. Sounds delicious! 😀

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog and giving a shout out to say hi! I’ve been really enjoying reading through your blog as well! 😀

  18. I LOVE fall and blizzards – I usually get german chocolate or reese’s cup – loving their new mini size!!

I probably like fall better- the weather gives me SO much energy, and when the grass (my BIGGEST) allergen dies, I can really enjoy being outside more.

  19. mmm I need to get myself one of those pumpkin pie blizzards! There is a DQ right by my school, which may be dangerous 😉 Usually, I love either cookie dough or cherry cheesecake blizzards. That sandwich sounds SO delicious. I’m hungry now 🙂

  20. Peggy says:

I adore EVERYTHING about fall. The cooling weather, the changing colors, the fall clothes! Everything about fall is great and I’m glad it has finally arrived!

  21. I love working out in the cool weather, making fun halloween treats and carving pumpkins. I love October :)!!

  22. Maria says:

Hahaha! Oh Snooki, everyone’s favorite little ompah lompah. I’m totally thinking about being her for halloween and putting on a coat of orange-glow, I mean, self tanner,

  23. Lauren says:

I also love the fall. The cool, crispness really is like a breath of fresh air. I love all the colors and the seasonal foods. 🙂

I love DQ Blizzards more than I probably should. I’ve never tried the pumpkin pie flavor though.

  24. Kia says:

I love the fresh cool air. Oreo cookie is my most favorite blizzard. Unfortunately I do not live close to one anymore.

  25. awww too cute: you went with “the belly” haha I can’t wait to be pregnant!

Anyway, have a wonderful weekend! GReat looking sandwich!

  26. Mandy says:

OMG that blizzard looks amazing lol!!

I love fall. Definitely my favorite season, by far 🙂

  27. Jebbica says:

Haha, you crack me up! I too am a total lover of sweet potatoes and pumpkin, as well as all the other cornucopia staples like zucchini, squash, and eggplant. But I’m an October baby so pumpkin and I definitely have a love affair. My favorite color is pumpkin orange (though hopefully not as a skin tone). Pumpkin body wash and lotion, pumpkin cappuccinos, pumpkin everything! That pumpkin Blizzard sounds yum. Probably a good thing I don’t have a Dairy Queen anywhere around me! :p
