new blog friends

A couple pieces of blog housekeeping – 1) LOVED reading all your thoughts on the Food Rules post from this morning. 2) Check out my guest post on Biochemista. It’s a letter written to my college self and part of Lauren’s fabulous Letters to Myself series.

Today has gone by in a flash! I had many things to do. While I didn’t get to accomplish everything I intended, I still consider the day a success. Of course, my morning started with my ritual of taking some time in prayer and reading my Bible. I love those mornings where God just speaks to me. Today my message came as a bit of a slap upside the head. This morning I kept getting distracted by to-dos and other thoughts while praying…then pick up my Bible and its all about keeping the focus on God, not earthly things, because He will take care of me and help give me more than I can imagine in a blessed life. The dude is a mind reader, I’m telling you. 😉

After a little change in perspective, I did the usual morning routine hustle and bustle of breakfast. Then, we headed to the gym for a spin workout. I’m so in love with spin right now. I wonder what the instructor would think if I tried filming myself there? 😉

From there, it was on to the park. I had a meet up with a special friend. Remember when I was taking advantage of at the Chick Fil A indoor playground during the summer months and was recognized by a reader? After the slightly awkward “crap how does this person know me” moment I had, we got to talking and have sporadically emailed back and forth since. Well, today was the day we finally changed all that and got together for some fun.

I wish I had gotten a picture of the two of us, but the kiddos will do. Stacey and I were able to chat about everything from mommyhood and busy schedules to blogging and eating habits. In fact, she started her own personal blog recently to share her journey to overcoming negativity and embracing balance. I hope we can get together again soon.

The rest of the afternoon came in a bit of a rush. Immediately upon coming home from the park, I whipped up some sandwiches for M and I. Can you tell I’m on a bit of a sandwich kick?

IMGP7461

Hummus, tomato, pickles, turkey, swiss, onion, and a few mushrooms. With an apple + sea salt pita chips for some crunch. Just what I needed for my grumbling stomach. And to fuel my fingers so during the spare two hours I had I could type up this post, get caught up on emails, and other mommy tasks such as dishes and laundry.

I now leave you for my fun-filled evening with my sister. We are heading out for a delicious dinner and then a movie courtesy of BlogHer’s review program. Complex carbs and Hot Tamales will be consumed. Be back tomorrow morning with an update of our shenanigans!

  • What movie do you want to see soon? I would love to see Social Network. I’ve heard good things about it.
  • Have you ever met another blogger? Who is someone you would want to meet in person?

  5. I’m glad you’re on a sandwich kick – they look YUMMY and give me ideas for my own yummy sandwiches!

I’ve never met another blogger in real life. I’m hoping I’ll get to have a quick meet-up with some in St. Pete at the Woman’s Running Half Marathon in November because there’s quite a few of us running it! (And there’s not any one blogger that I’d want to meet more than others – in an ideal world I’d get to meet ALL of the bloggers I follow!)

  6. I have never met any other blogger…besided the ones that I know here in my own town and I know about them.

I think I would like to meet Charlie at operation shrink charlie’s big butt. http://oscbb.blogspot.com. She makes me laugh evertime I read her. She has a good sense of humor when she tells her real life exeriences

I’ve heard that the Social Network is good too. I also wanted to see The Town, The Kids Are Alright, and Inception (I’m behind- no time for the movies)

I was just googling “oscar contenders” because those are the ones we usually manage to make time to see over our Christmas break (because we’re total snobs), and Blue Valentine looks pretty awesome.

  15. I’ve met Jessica and Jolene (they follow you too) and I would love to one day meet you as well as Sarena from the Non-Dairy Queen.

  16. Lori Lynn says:

Your sandwich looks really good! The Social Networking movie looks good too– I’d also like to see the movie with Katherine Heigel — Life As We Know It (or something like that. Not sure of that’s the right title).

  17. I just wanted to say that I read your letter to yourself and it was amazing- made me tear up.

I’ve only done one blogger meet-up but I want to do many more!

  18. I saw the Social Network last week at a free preview! It was good–lots of legal stuff included in the story line, but an interesting plot that keeps you intrigued the whole time. Hope you enjoy it!

I have never attended a spinning class before and am interested in trying it soon. Any tips for a first time spinner?

I have never met another blogger, but I am new to the blogging world and would love to meet others who have the same interests as me. I really regret not going to the Healthy Living Summit this year.

    • Tina says:

I am determined to go to either BlogHer or Healthy Living Summit next year. Or both! If I could.

As for spinning, I would say the best tips are to arrive early so the instructor or someone who has ridden for awhile can help you set up your bike. You want to be sure you have it positioned correctly. Also, be sure you have enough resistance to where you can feel the pedals under your feet. Its hard to explain but if you have no resistance it will be way too easy and can make the ride more uncomfortable from bouncing. Lastly, your butt and girl area WILL hurt. You will probably wonder what the heck you were thinking but go to at least one class a week for a month and I bet you’ll end up loving it. Your body gets used to the seat by then. 🙂

  19. I’ve never met any bloggers, but I’d love to meet you! 🙂

  20. Lee says:

My mom said that Social Network was really great. I also want to see…I forget what it’s called, that new movie with Zack Galifinackas.

I’ve met you in real life!

  21. I want to see Social Network – it came up in a meeting today and peeps seemed to love it!

I hope to meet you at an ATL blogger meetup soon! I’ve met some great bloggies – always a great time!

    • Tina says:

Did you get the email about the meetup we’re putting together for the 29 of this month? I couldn’t find all the emails from the last one and don’t know who all it got forwarded to. Let me know if you need the info! 🙂

  22. YES – i’m in for 10/29 – got it! Can’t wait!

  23. I really want to see The Social Network, it looks really good.

I’ve met one other blogger so far, and it was SO much fun! I have a Vancouver blogger dinner on Thursday night that Im going to, and Im super excited for that too.

  24. Caitlin says:

Meeting bloggers is my FAVORITE. Seriously, all of my friends in Austin have come way from blogging. And it seems everywhere I go, there is someone I “know” from this community! In each of the three trips I have taken/am taking this fall, I am meeting up with a fellow blogger. So fun.

  25. Sava says:

Movie? I just want to watch this week’s “Fringe” 😀

  26. Okay, that sandwich looks amazing. Basically looks like my ideal sandwich, and ideal sides! You are making me hungry! Looks like a fun date, as well 🙂

I want to see Life as we know it (looks hilarious), and The Social Network!

  27. Ive had TONS of blogger meetups and they are all fun! Some ladies i have clicked more with than others but all are fun and sweet. Madeline in Phx has become a lifelong friend bc of our blogger meetups (weekly) for almost a year and i wish i could meet so many more bloggers who i already consider reallllllyyyyy good friends, even tho we havent “met” IRL.

  28. Kristy says:

M looks so precious in that photo. SO sweet!

  29. Angela says:

I love meeting blog friends! I’ve been to about 4 blogger meet-ups so far, and I love how even though you’ve never met before, you start chatting like you’ve known each other for ages! It’s like an invisible bond that non-bloggers don’t really get. On my first meet-up, I drove to Toronto to have lunch with a bunch of other bloggers. My roommate thought I was crazy for driving all the way there, just to have lunch with a load of strangers – who might be weird! But it was totally fine – I felt like I knew them all already! 🙂

  30. […] This post was mentioned on Twitter by Tina Reale, Tina Reale. Tina Reale said: I had a great day…and a super fun night thanks to @BlogHer and the review program. http://www.faithfitnessfun.com/4439/new-blog-friends/ […]

  32. I too want to see The Social Network and The Town — even though I can’t stand Ben Affleck!

I have met another blogger, and it was so much fun! Plus I’ve “met” so many that I email consistently — it is amazing how many great friends you can meet this way!

  33. Holly says:

I REALLY want to see the Social Network! And Life as we Know It. 🙂

I’ve never met another blogger…..Indiana needs more bloggers. 🙂 Hopefully I’ll get to one day! I told Em I need to plan a trip to ATL so I can meet BOTH of you!

  34. Nichole says:

  37. Ela says:

I’d love to meet pretty much all the bloggers whose blogs I read! And I haven’t yet had a bloggie meetup.

Movies? We just got netflix, so I’m just wising up, but I am pretty clueless about them really. I love foreign films, especially those where I know the language a bit and can practice with the subtitles…

    love
    Ela

  38. Dee says:

In theory I would love to meet up with bloggers (who’s blogs I read)! In reality though, I think I’m a little too chicken for it! LOL!

It’s kind of funny. I become a certified personal trainer and the first workouts I turn to this week come from someone else. The book came in for me at the library last week and, after flipping through it, I couldn’t wait to give the circuits a go. Making The Cut includes a lot of […]
