Live & Learn

Hey ladies (and possibly lads too ;))! I hope everyone is having a fantabulous humpity-hump day. I can barely believe it's already Wednesday! Probably because my life has been sucked into a time vacuum the past few days and it's not getting any better yet. On the bright side, I have learned a few things in the past 24 hours. Let me share these not so life altering lessons...

1. Makenzie enjoys watching television WAY more than I thought she did.

I mentioned yesterday that I had to resort to the television to entertain her while I am so under the weather and I fully expected her to get sick of it after one, maybe two, shows. Nope! She was perfectly happy to do this all day with me...

chilling with the TV and me

Please tell me I haven't created a monster ๐Ÿ˜‰

2. Consignment season is back already!!!

For those of you unfamiliar with what in the heck a consignment sale is, I have provided some photos for reference.

LOTS of clothes

LOTS of knick knacks

LOTS of big toys

It is basically massive garage sales. People from all over a community can bring their gently used children's clothing, toys, books, movies, bedroom items, baby gear like strollers/swings/etc, actual children and husbands, and everything else to sell at around 80% cheaper than you would find the items new. Well, maybe they don't sell actual children and husbands...but everything else is game! These are GREAT for buying things for kiddos. Children go through clothes, toys, necessary items like Courtney Love goes through her drug stash.

All the items are checked to be sure they are in excellent condition, clean, and safe for new buyers. I have bought almost everything for Makenzie through these sales and will continue to do so. Plus, they are fun because they are like your own personal treasure hunt. Too bad, I couldn't be accompanied by this guy as my own personal pirate helper. ๐Ÿ˜‰

for some reason he is so sexy as a pirate

Well, back to my point. My mom called me yesterday asking if I was going to make it to the Kidsignments Sale. WHAT?! Already?! They usually don't start until March, but this season it's starting early I guess. The next month will have one of my favorite sales each week. And I just have to hit them up to pick up the bargains and get M all set for spring and summer needs. ย I better get over this nastiness pronto!

3. I can be way too obsessed with things being neat. At the price of my stomach.

I was going insane yesterday with how behind I am on taking care of things around the house like dishes, laundry, mopping, cleaning the kitchen...not having spilled milk all over the floor from miss M. I got to the point where I couldn't take laying there looking at it all so I got up and tried to clean. Not smart. Whenever I move I feel super nauseous. So, yea. It led me to saying adios to my lunch and I'll leave it at that. I waved my white flag and retired to the couch again.

4. Nicholas Sparks will make me cry every book he writes.

Dear John

I finished reading Dear John yesterday and I should have known that would include some tear shedding. His books always make me cry. In a good way though. I like how much emotional impact they can have on me. I adore his books because while they are written in a very simple language, they are still beautiful to read and really pull on the heartstrings. The stories are always pretty similar with all the heartache and outcomes being tearjerkers, but I love how each book reads like it's brand new and the characters just draw you in. I don't think Dear John was the best of his, but I really enjoyed reading it. It will be interesting to see how the movie compares when I finally get around to watching it. That won't be until it comes out on DVD, so at least I was pleasantly surprised to see his new book already available for me from the library to tide me over.

5. I love all of you! Your comments and get well wishes made my day. I always look forward to the comments and sharing in this great community ๐Ÿ™‚ So, I pass along this award I got from Keri to all of you. Thanks Keri!

Hi Tina! Thanks for the nice comment on my blog, you are right, I should be enjoying the food even when it is bad! I just sometimes feel that when I eat those foods it causes me to think like “Well I ate this crap today so I can eat this crap now” but it doesn’t need to be like that. I realize now that I can just enjoy what I eat then have something healthier my next meal. So thank you! ๐Ÿ™‚ Hope you are feeling better. I loveeee going to consignment shops! they are awesome and you almost never have to worry about seeing someone wearing the same thing as you ๐Ÿ™‚ Have a good day!

  2. chelsea says:

Oh and PS. Didn’t you LOVE Dear John! I won’t spoil the movie for you, but I can say the book was better. What is your other favorite books by him besides A walk to remember and the notebook? Ive read those already..

    • Tina says:

I loved The Guardian and A Bend in the Road by him as well. None compare to The Notebook of course, but those two are really really good as well. I might have to re-read them eventually ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Chrysta says:

I’ll tell ya though, I’ll be one happy girl if I could get Johnny Depp to accompany me anywhere! ha! Great book review too. I hope you have an amazing day!!

  4. Danielle says:

I can relate to having things neat. It drives me mad when both Mark and I are sick and our house is very messy and chaotic! ๐Ÿ™‚
I haven’t read any books from Nicholas Sparks yet. I’ll definitely look for them next time I go to the library.

  15. I’m with ya, Tina! Consignment shopping & Nicholas Sparks books are the best! ๐Ÿ™‚

  16. The movie dear john was well done as well incase you needed something to watch and cry to. I loved it-

That kind of shopping is an experience. I think I would really get into it! I love finding cheap good stuff:)

Sounds like you are really under the weather. Remember you need to take care of yourself before you can start taking care of others and your house. Don’t worry I’m sure there will be plenty to clean when you get all better;)
