Growing Up
Posted: December 5, 2010 at 4:25 pmIt feels like we went through all the life stages on Saturday. We started with the pregnancy/newborn stage during our tour of the fabulous hospital. I still can’t get over how NICE it is!
After the tour, we entered the childhood years. Our little town had a Christmas parade down one of the main streets. We had the chance to act like kids again with little M.
This year blew last year’s parade out of the water. There were so many floats! From snowmen to the Grinch to Santa to holiday angels to birthday cakes for Jesus. I like seeing that. It always makes me smile when a little reminder pops up.
Makenzie started off pretty tired since she had to miss her nap for the parade…
…but she quickly got into it when she saw people passing out lollipops and Chick Fil A cows riding by. The kid loves dressed up characters. I hope that bodes well for when Santa visits her kiddie holiday party in a couple weeks.
All in all we had a great time. I sometimes think I have more fun than her!
We decided to grow up a bit for Saturday night. We had a special party to attend – our friend’s surprise 40th birthday party!
His birthday is not until the very end of the year, so he had no clue. I loved the shock on his face! And his reaction was priceless. I know I would have felt the same way seeing a group of loved ones all in one place. But I’ll share a nicer picture of him with some of the ladies instead. 😉
Over the course of the evening I had so much fun sipping my water while eyeing my friend Cory’s famous sangria. Have I mentioned I miss wine? Oh, yea. I have. I did get to munch on a few snacks…
…plus more fruit and some cake. I wish my friend Angie and I had gotten a picture of the cake’s aftereffects. Black icing = attractive teeth. And without a doubt, I spent a large chunk of the night laughing and chatting. It never fails that a gathering with our group of friends makes for a fabulous night. Even when I have to check out early at 10 with some body aches. I had fun though and that’s all that matters.
- How was your weekend? Any nice acts for others in the mix?
- Would you ever want a surprise party? I would LOVE a surprise party, but I know Peter could never manage putting one together. He admits it.
tina, your white coat is adorable! is it a maternity coat? both my sister and i are pregnant and struggling to find winter coats that button around our bellies!
It’s not a maternity coat and it definitely doesn’t button right now LOL. I got it last year at Old Navy for a good price and I do really like it. I have no clue where to find maternity coats.
Sounds like a fun day!
Have I ever mentioned that little M gets cuter every day? Seriously.
I totally second that! I am glad you had a nice weekend! I am stuck at the office working… 🙁 This weekend and all the rest in the foreseeable future…
Awww what a fun day!
she is absolutely ADORABLE! oh my gosh- pretty just like her mama!
LOVIN your white coat! Glad you had an awesome day with your family. Those days are the best!
I love he white coat! so chic and cute!
Thanks. I got it last year after Christmas at Old Navy. I like it!
That parade looks like such fun! Sometimes I miss Georgia weather when I see pics like yours of people still donning cute little sweaters, etc. Philly is so frigid I’ve been wearing the same layers for like, 5 days straight:)
My weekend was work, a Christmas concert at church, and church today. The small group (only four of us) baked cookies and listened to Christmas music tonight. Cookies and last night’s concert were probably the highlights of my weekend. 😀
That parade looks like fun! And you and M look like you’re having fun! =)
Um, I gave a tour of our church! To a newer family who’ve been visiting for a couple of weeks. I got asked (by another leader) to show them around a little. That was kind of fun. And I scraped my sister’s car windows a little while I was warming up my car. Those were my “random acts of kindness” for the weekend. 🙂
I don’t really do parties, but if it was the right mix of people, food, and activities, I’d probably be all for a surprise party! Maybe for my golden birthday (in about ten years)…? 😛
I’m not sure I would like a surprise party! I a party girl and LOVE birthdays, but I like to know what’s going on. I like being as surprise parties for other people though 🙂
You must feel happy to know that the hospital is so nice!
Yes. Especially since we changed doctors when planning to get pregnant so we could deliver there. LOL
haha, i didn’t even think about the black icing. Yeah, I’m sure that can’t go well!
I love holiday parades! But they’re much more fun to watch than to be in! In junior high I was in the band, and we marched in one every year. It was exhausting (cold!) work! 🙂
I agree with the others–M is such a precious girl! I wish I lived close enough that I could babysit for you!
So glad you enjoyed your Saturday evening with friends. I don’t think I’ve ever eaten black icing, but I’ve definitely eaten blue, and it sure left marks around my mouth!
Little M is adorable!!!
I love Christmas parades, it’s the only parade I want to go to.
Jen
Fun family weekend! M is so cute! Meghan is the exact opposite–she is petrified of characters. Santa would be traumatizing for her.
I’m planning a surprise party right now for someone… and it’s stressing me out! Hope it all comes together 🙂
looks like a fun weekend! I think I will definitely miss wine once I”m preggo!! Trying to get it in while I can before we start trying!
Your daughter is precious!!! Absolutely ADORABLE!!!!!
That hospital rocks, nice choice – but I’m glad most of all it works great for you and the fam, that’s what’s important.
I want a Christmas Parade! How fun:)
I decorated some more to put me in the holiday mood!
Your daughter is adorable! I haven’t yet been blessed with a little one, but I imagine having children at Christmas is a blast!
