Toys

We celebrated a friend of Makenzie’s 2nd birthday party today. I think it was one of the best birthday parties we have been to.The weather was perfect for another day outdoors.

Which worked fabulous with the party because they had so many cool toys set up for the kids. Makenzie and the birthday girl had fun hopping around together in a little jumper.

They had other inflatables too, which Braedon had a fun time with. While asleep.

And we can’t forget the mini rollercoaster!

Where were toys like this at my birthday parties growing up?! I think piñatas were about as exciting as we got.

In between all the playing, I nabbed a snack plate to share with Makenzie.

I basically ate all the veggies, dip, and rye  bread. I could have eaten a plate full of the spinach dip. So delicious! I think spinach dip is my favorite savory party food. I say favorite savory because, well, anything sweet always wins. Like cupcakes.

I don’t think the kids liked them at all though.

Not one bit, right? 😉

Thank goodness we did have cake and cupcakes at least. We may not have had roller coasters, but by golly we had cake!

I remember my favorite birthday party had My Little Pony cupcakes and decorations. I was obsessed with My Little Pony.

Other favorite toys during my young years…

So basic, yet so fun. I obviously spent my childhood all in the 80s. It’s so weird that some of these have come back into popularity too. One thing I hope never comes back though?

My sister loved those things when I was in high school. Annoying as all get out!

  4. Ahhh! I had a Teddy Ruxpin when I was a baby! 😀

Furbies are awful. Whoever invented them had serious issues. And they are creepy!

  5. I loved barbies, unicorns and cabbage patch babies. Sounds like
a great party. So glad you enjoyed the day Tina!

  6. I’ve never heard of a popple. I liked Cabbage Patch Kids. And my record player. And Strawberry Shortcake (and all her lovely smelling buddies).

  7. Lauren says:

I had Barney come to my 4th birthday party, and I remember my younger sister who was 2 was so scared and cried the whole time.
I loved American Girl Dolls and those electronic pet toys that came on keychains in elementary school.

  8. TEDDY RUXPIN!!! I want him back. Looks like a fun afternoon. 🙂

“I could have eaten a plate full of the spinach dip.”—ME TOO!!! I love it!! Our neighbor in Aruba makes the BEST spinach dip and every year around Xmas I usually o.d. on it. And i love it 🙂

  14. Camille says:

Oh dear god. Furbys haunt my childhood. Luckily my parents had the good sense never to let me get one. That was about as high tech as toys got when I was growing up! Wait, scratch that, I had a Giga Pet. It was awesome!

  15. Becca says:

My Little Ponies!! We had several. Six, maybe? Maybe more?
What else did we have? Hmm… Ohhhh, Beanie Babies! We still have ours. I used to make up stories for them, and I had my favorites–a couple of them I was determined to bring with me pretty much everywhere. Haha! 🙂
I remember I was obsessed with TV shows like Sailor Moon when I was in elementary school… They need to bring back the good Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network shows… =\

  20. TEDDY RUXPIN! True story. One time my Teddy was doing his thing talking, and the bottom half of his jaw fell off. I watched in horror as he kept talking with just the top part of his mouth moving before I threw him across the room. 🙂

  21. Anna says:

Popples!! Aww, I loved my popple.
I loved my gloworm too – when I was little as a nightlight, and then by late elementary school I would take it to bed and then use it as a flashlight to keep reading my books.

When I was little we had bike parties – kids brought their bikes over (bike friendly town) and we would decorate all of them with streamers & then bike over to the park (a block away) and have cake and just run around and play.

My little pony and Strawberry Shortcake were my favorites. I love that they are still popular!
