Heart Rate Monitor Giveaway

Posted: May 12, 2011 at 6:13 pm

I told you I had two great giveaways coming your way this week! First, a giveaway for an awesome workout top (winner will be announced with this winner in Saturday's post). Now, a giveaway for a heart rate monitor! Oh yes, my friends. Oh yes.

When Sportline offered me the chance to share my thoughts on the Duo Women’s heart rate monitor, I said HECK TO THE YEA “Sure!”. <--- Trying to act demure, ya know?

I think heart rate monitors are great tools to use for fitness goals. They allow you to more accurately know the intensity level in which you are working. This helps, because you can pace yourself better…or know when to kick it up a notch. 😉

The Duo Women’s heart rate monitor is a great item. It is made for women so it has a slimmer wrist band to not feel so bulky. You can use the heart rate monitor with or without a chest strap. The chest strap allows for a continuous heart rate display, or you can use the sensors on the watch to get a reading. The readings will also let you know the % of your maximum heart rate, a fat burning zone, and if you hit your target heart rate. All in all, it’s a great little gadget.

And you have the chance to win one! You can enter by doing the following:

  • Comment on this post telling me one way you like to workout smarter.
  • Tweet the giveaway – I’m trying to win a free heart rate monitor from @TinaFFF and @SportlineRocks! -

The giveaway will end on Saturday morning at 10 am EST. Good luck!!!

I’m a college student, and in the past year have REALLY developed a passion for fitness and living an overall healthy lifestyle. While I appreciate running and the great benefits it has both internally and externally, I am a HUGE fan of strength training. With that said, it can be quite easy to do without the proper form, and lead to injuries; so I’ve learned to work out smarter by watching videos that demonstrate the proper way to do the exercises, and have no shame in asking the “weight room attendants” at my college gym if I’m performing the exercises correctly, because thats what they’re there for!

  2. Haley says:

Tina I just started reading your blog and I am completely infatuated! I am really trying on making the most of my workouts and not spending an hour “spinning my wheels.” The heart rate monitor looks like a great way to track this!!

  3. Megan Mc says:

Hi Tina! I just started reading your blog (through a guest post you did!) and am in love with it! I love to work out, but sometimes I don’t feel I get the most workout out of my time… I have recently contemplating getting a heart rate monitor to make sure I’m always working in the right zone! I also love going to classes/watching videos/reading online in which the instructors aren’t afraid to tell you if you are doing something incorrectly, that way you know the proper way to complete each move.

  4. Briana says:

I like to make my workouts smarter by using my time wisely and burning as many calories as possible! 🙂

  5. With 2 little kids I don’t have a lot of time to exercise. This heart rate monitor would help me get to the level I need to make the most out of my workout weather it is running or doing a DVD. I love that is has a chest strap for a more accurate reading.

  6. Jodie says:

I started doing interval workouts where I workout at a high intensity for one minute and then rest or hula hoop for 30seconds in between.

  7. Katie J says:

It would really help to know that I am making the most of my workouts by knowing I am in my target. I have been researching them A LOT lately.

    Thanks for the opportunity!

  8. Lauren says:

Great giveaway, I’ve never used a HR monitor before! I’d like to workout smarter by doing more weight training and actually learn proper form.

  9. Kara says:

Love my Garmin!! The technology has really improved my runs!!

  10. Karin M says:

I like to work out smarter by taking my two year old in the stroller and run/walk on the levees by our house. I can get a work-out, and he enjoys the ride. The HR monitor would be nice, so I’d know, when to kick it up a notch.
Fairly new to your blog. Love it.

    • Tina says:

Thanks! I love connecting with readers so thanks for entering and the comment.

And walk/run with a stroller is a GREAT workout. Boy, do I know. 😉

  11. sarah kinney says:

    Oooh nice!! 🙂

I like working smarter, not harder! I usually do this by switching up workouts often to keep up motivation and keeping things short and sweet yet effective so I dont burn out quickly.

    (ps.. Hi Tina!)

  12. Wendy says:

I would like to do more interval training; I think this would help me work out smarter and more effective.

  13. This is an amazing giveaway Tina!! 🙂
I’ve started paying more attention to my form when Im doing things like squats and lunges. I used to just do whatever, and that lead to a very angry knee. So now Im super careful to workout PROPERLY and not hurt myself again.

  14. I want to be work out smarter .. and know exactly where my HR is.. so I know that I am in the best possible zone.. and getting the most out of my workout!

  15. Lauren says:

I am really enjoying mixing up my routines. I recently got serious with lifting this year and finally started to notice significant changes in my body. Once again, balance prevails! 🙂

  16. Tara Burner says:

I’ve been wanting a heart monitor but right now money is non-existent for non essentials so this would be a God send!

  17. Teri says:

    I tweeted:-)

  18. I’ve never used a heart rate monitor, but feel I would really benefit from one- especially now that I’m pregnant and don’t want to worry about pushing too hard.

    Great giveaway! 🙂

  19. I’ve definitely started making the most of my workouts by adding strength training. A few years ago I kept burning myself out on cardio…

  20. TiffanyS says:

I just started working out again after a sprained ankle injury and I am still getting back into it all. I have been wanting a heart rate monitor but my wallet told me no!

  21. TiffanyS says:

    Tweeted!

  22. becky says:

I would love to be consistent with my workouts, that would be much much smarter than my randomness now!

  23. becky says:

    i tweeted the giveaway!

  24. Recently I’ve tried to do shorter, more intense workouts to be smarter about getting the most benefit for my time at the gym.
    I’d love to win this!!

  25. just tweeted! (@runnerscookie)

  26. beth says:

Lately I’ve been adding more intervals and hill repeats during my runs rather than just running at whatever comfortable pace I felt like. I have never used a heartrate monitor but think it would be a great training tool.

  27. Kathleen says:

What a great giveaway! I’d like to know if I’m really working out in my proper zone…right now I’m trusting my treadmill, but it would be nice to know when I’m doing other exercises.

  28. Missy says:

I need to learn how to work out smarter which is why I need one of these!!

  29. alex says:

I need to actually remember to pay attention to y orkouts and keep track of them!

  30. I work out smarter by listening to my body and taking a rest day when I need it. 🙂

  31. lovely Tina! i am working on my fitness, and i fear that i’m never working out hard ENOUGH because i’m so inexperienced! i feel like a heart rate monitor would be perfect for me to have a better idea of how much i need to kick it up! you’re the best girl! 🙂

  32. Rachel Lynn says:

I like to make my workouts smarter by listening to my body at all times and drinking plenty of water!

  33. Sara B says:

I like to work out smarter by trying my best to wear the right shoes for my feet and the activity…despite how I may look. Little flip flops may look cuter than my sneakers while walking longer distances but my feet always pay later. So…hiking = good boots…running/biking/walking = good sneakers. Thanks for the giveaway opportunity!

  34. I really want to know what my body is doing during my workouts and a heart monitor would be an awesome way to keep track of that! I want to have a workout schedule that alternates between high interval intensity and less intensive, so this would help so much with truly understanding that. Great giveaway!

  35. I follow you on Twitter!

  36. Kelley says:

Need to drink WAY MORE WATER! This would make for a better workout 🙂

  37. I work out smarter by taking a rest day when I really need it!

  38. Melb says:

I have 3 small children and a full time teaching position. It is such a challenge to squeeze in workouts. I currently wake up at 4am to get in a workout before everyone is up and the craziness begins. I have always thought running as many miles as i could was the easiest way to stay in shape and lose the pregnancy weight but am slowly getting tired of feeling like i have to run 40+ miles a week or its just not enough. I am just starting to do more interval training and weight/cardio circuits. I feel like its a great workout but i guess we will see. If my pants start getting tight its back to running long distances.

  39. Margaret B says:

I like to workout smarter by doing interval type training. As a busy working mom, my time for myself is very limited so I feel like mixing my cardio with strenth training is smarter than all one or all the other.

  40. Honestly, to work out smarter for me would be to use a heart rate monitor. As a pregnant runner, when I’m not on a treadmill, I can’t check my heart rate (it’s way to hard for me to do it while walking because I start counting my steps instead of my heart beat). I would really like one so that I can make sure I am staying in a healthy zone to keep my baby safe.

  41. Oh my gosh I would love love love to have a new monitor! Mine broke a year ago and workouts haven’t been the same since! I’d use it to really be able getthe most out of my walking and running workouts 🙂

  42. Karolina says:

This is great! I’ve actually thought about getting one. I’ve been on a long “heart journey” since 2004, when my resting heart rate was up at a solid 120-125. Working out was difficult, because i hit very close to my max heart rate very quickly. As my resting heart rate has fallen (it’s now in the low 80s), working out has gotten much easier. however, I still feel my heart racing very high when I run, and am always worried I’m getting too close to my max. At this point I feel like I can’t run in a smart way without having something to gage where I’m at.

  43. I would love a heart rate monitor! I’ve wanted one for a long time!

I think I work out smart by telling Jason where I’m running and I text him when I’m half way — that way if he doesn’t hear from me he can start looking. Sounds scary but you have to be careful!

  44. I have a heart rate monitor so I won’t enter the giveaway but I am happy to tweet for you 🙂

Such a lovely reader gift! 🙂

  45. Just the other day I told my wife I wanted a heart rate moniter so I could watch my heart rate and know when to speed up or slow down. I just want to get the most out of my fitness. I spent so many years being unfit and inactive… now I just want to get the most out of it!

It’s kind of funny. I become a certified personal trainer and the first workouts I turn to this week come from someone else. The book came in for me at the library last week and, after flipping through it, I couldn’t wait to give the circuits a go. Making The Cut includes a lot of […]
