The Biggest Fashion No-No

If you found your way over here for the first time from my post on the DailySpark blog, I’m super excited you stopped by! Get acquainted by checking out a little more on what to expect when visiting FFF and who I am. Then, say hello so I can get to know you. If you’re a regular here at FFF, please check out my post on what motherhood taught me for a healthy lifestyle!

The outdoors this morning didn’t look too welcoming.

Blah. Dreary. Drizzly. Grey. Enough reason to stay in cozy wear. You already know I am not a fashionista by any stretch of the imagination, but this piece takes the cake!

IMGP2052-1

The Italian Virgin Mary sweatshirt. It’s the biggest joke of a Christmas gift Peter received last year (gotta love random family presents!), but so soft.

IMGP2056-1

Peter and I take turns wearing it and laughing at each other for the sheer ridiculousness of this fashion statement. Love ya, Mary…but you’re not exactly my fashion style. Makes for some good laughs at the very least!

Despite my super attractive get-up, I didn’t opt to laze about. I felt better about getting productive while so comfortable. The kids and I cranked up the music  and made our way through the house, cleaning up a bit as we went along the way. With breaks for dancing along the way.

It appears Makenzie has a serious affinity for the oldies. Okay, kid. Have at the Beatles. I wish I had some video footage of our dancing shenanigans – especially of yesterday’s disco dance party! My mom would be so proud. She’s a former disco dancer. No joke!

Can’t you see it? Winking smile

As the day went on, I eventually got my butt out of the sloppy wear. First for a run and then to look presentable for sister night.

Dinner tonight honored a craving of Peter’s. We just recently got another share of meat from our local source and he had a hankering to use some in tonight’s dinner.

He pulled out a top round roast to defrost and then cooked it up this afternoon. Once he got it to the perfect medium doneness, he sliced it thin to layer up on a baguette with some sautéed peppers and onions plus some provolone cheese. I guess you could call it a mock Philly cheesesteak?

Okay. Not really. But it was still good. Really good. I honestly think I can tell the difference in the quality of our meat. Or at least I can feel better about knowing the source. I served it up with some roasted green beans because we shall eat our weight in green beans this week.

That’s what happens when you find a 5 pound bag of green beans on sale. I don’t mind one bit. We have quite a bit of steak left too. Which means I know what I will be having for lunch tomorrow. Winking smile

Sister night with The Biggest Loser is calling my name now. Let’s see if the teams can take down Bob this week.

Lasers, Haircuts, & Pumpkin Pie In A Cup

Ah, Monday. Here again. I definitely prefer the weekends, but Monday isn’t all bad. For one thing, it means I get to catch up with you. Let’s do just that. I didn’t get the chance to fill you in on all of my weekend. You already know about:

Now, I need to fill you in on the rest!

Part One: Meeting The Boyfriend & Laser Shows

Saturday night we scheduled a family outing to Stone Mountain Park.

IMGP2006-1

Whew! It was a packed house!

IMGP1992-1

Peter and I try to go every year with the kids for a picnic dinner and to watch the laser show that plays across the mountain’s side. We did just that this weekend, but invited along his sister and her new boyfriend. Smile

Oh, the days of meeting the family! I met Peter’s family in an ambush when I thought I was meeting just his brother…but it turned into an entire family dinner. Talk about nerve-wracking just weeks after meeting him! Although not as bad as when Peter met my family. I wasn’t even there the first time because I was flying back from Europe. They all decided to go together to pick me up, though. Crazy.

Hopefully, our little outing made things a little more low key for John. We had a lot of fun and I hope he did too. He’s a great guy!

Back to the show…

We had the standard picnic dinner for us – Subway!

Although perhaps a bottle and spinach, collard greens, and kale puffs would have been a tastier option?

IMGP1998-1

One would think with the way Braedon inhaled those suckers!

IMGP2003-1

Finally, we enjoyed the laser show, which was revamped this year. Meh. The classic is a lot better. Although the fireworks sure were fun and the kids loved it.

Deer in headlights Makenzie…Drooly drooly drooly Braedon

A great night all around. Smile

Part Two: I Got A Haircut.

IMGP2015-1

I just had my regular cut cleaned up and added in a bit more of a layered look to the front. I was so tempted to go shorter again to have something different…but then I remembered how much I hated growing my hair out. And how much I love being able to pull it back into a ponytail.

Part Three: Pumpkin Pie In A Cup.

IMGP2019-1IMGP2020-1

It’s back. I love them. I made sure to have one last night. I don’t think a weekend can end on a sweeter note. I will likely have another sometime over the course of the month. It truly is pumpkin pie in a cup.

  • Do you like switching up your haircut or go with the same look?
  • Any fun “meet the family” stories to share? I’m all ears!
