the simple things
Thanks for all the feedback on the new posting schedule. I find that I like doing shorter posts as well. I think I will keep it up. It makes things simpler. Which kind of goes against what I thought. I always thought posting more often would be harder, but organizing posts becomes quicker and easier this way. I’m all about the simple things in life. My day represented that well.
I spent as much time as I possibly could playing with this pretty face.
I don’t think you can get much simpler than reading children books and talking about colors. I only kid. Mothering equates to the most difficult job I’ve ever experienced. But simply looking at her smile makes it all worthwhile. And moments like this…
That would be the downing of a Green Monster. Start ‘em young! Makes life much more simple.
My food choices today all fell into the simple category as well. I craved produce like none other. It saddened me that a bountiful did not yet fill my refrigerator at lunch. I went with my current favorite stand-by. A tomato, veggie sausage, laughing cow sandwich and an apple for some crunch. Simple, yet so satisfying.
After lunch, I got some writing finished. Namely my next Examiner article. I took a tip from Hallie on this one and wrote tips on how to get started with healthy habits. Take a look! I also caught up on emails and reading blogs. Obviously I keep my priorities simple too.
Once little M awoke from her nap I knew a grocery run must happen. I needed my greens and food for dinner this week. The simple theme continued here because I had no time to pretty myself up. Who says you have to go out looking fancy? A simple look of no make-up and damp hair knotted back works for a grocery store run.
Simplicity reigned for my afternoon snack and dinner as well. I fought M had a Green Monster with a chocolate vita top slathered with hazelnut spread for my snack.
Then I shared a simple and delicious dinner with the husband and the little sister. I made up basic sandwiches – turkey, spinach, Swiss cheese, avocado, spicy mustard, and tomato. With heavenly vegetables on the side. Sliced red pepper, cucumber, and carrots with Sabra spinach + artichoke hummus for dipping. My dinner plate even featured a few Food Should Taste Good jalapeno chips. Yum!!!
Now it’s time to give my brain some simple entertainment by sharing laughter with my sister and watching mind-numbing things like Wipeout and The Bachelor Pad from last night.
- What simple thing made you happy today?
- Do you feel comfortable going out without your makeup or hair done or does it just not matter to you? I’ve never been big on make up. I like getting prettified for nights out with friends and some random days, but usually I just shower and go. I try to make an effort on a semi-regular basis to not feel like I don’t care about myself and my looks though.
