I Need A Money Tree

Gooood morning! I’m trying to stay chipper and welcome Monday with a smile. It has its good points…like starting a week off fresh. Right? Right! Catching up from the weekend?

So after my fantabulous long run on Saturday morning, a busy day awaited me. Funny how that always happens on Saturdays. Weekends with down time come very rarely in these parts, but that’s okay. Especially when the busy schedule includes a little bit of pampering for moi.

I got my hair all beautified up!

It needed a cut pretty badly since I try to stretch out my cuts to save some money. I love the cut and think it looks great, but I wanted a bit more of a noticeable side bang. I thought it looked shortened enough when at the salon, but now I think I wanted more of a difference than my previous cut. I may see if I can go back to get her to snip more off. You know, if my laziness doesn’t get the best of me trekking back out to the salon. And if its a free touch up since my money tree has gone into hiding.

From my hair appointment I had to immediately pick up Peter and the kids to go to another kid party. Yes, we attend one of these shin-digs basically every month. Yes, we have many friends with kids. Yes, we love every bit of toddler party we visit.

Yes, birthday cake never gets old. Just like time with this crew never gets old. It’s free fun!

Once the party ended we settled into the relaxing part of our weekend. We just had our typical Saturday low-key, at-home, save-the-dough date of pizza, ice-cream, and a Redbox movie. We chose No Strings Attached and liked it well enough. Predictable rom-com is basically the only description it needs. We had originally thought about taking Makenzie bowling as well this weekend…but then we checked the prices. It would have cost about $40 for a few games! Ridiculous! When did bowling get so expensive? Now, where is that money tree?

  • What is something you came across recently and were shocked at its price?

I Can’t Believe My Legs Survived

Posts From The Weekend

Somehow, my legs survived this on Saturday.

 IMGP1049

First, let’s back up to Saturday morning. Saturday morning I had my long run for the week planned. After doing a random gym workout instead of my run on Thursday, I couldn’t wait to get my run on. I headed out of my house with what seemed unlimited energy. Unfortunately, that energy didn’t translate over to my run. I accomplished the seven miles but it felt pretty difficult towards the end. I had only slept maybe 4 or 5 hours the night before and I could feel it. My legs dragged towards the end. I surprised myself that I still eeked out a 9:06 pace and finished the run in 1:03:44.

After coming home, showering, relaxing a bit, and downing lunch, I decided a hike with the family would be a fun thing to do together. We have not gone out with Baby B yet, so we chose a shorter, more touristy hike to see how he would handle the pack.

Even though I don’t consider Stone Mountain a true hiking excursion, it holds a special place in my heart. We always have a good time when we go.

 IMGP1047

Although, my calves might tell you different. The hike is one mile up and then back down. It truly is one giant stone with quite a few scenic spots along the way. It sounds comparatively easy to hikes we tend to choose, but I somehow always forget how steep some sections are!

It felt so great when we finally reached the top and could take a little break.

We hung out for awhile and then headed back down to get ourselves to dinner. I do not know how I woke up without feeling any soreness. I can’t believe my legs survived after running seven miles earlier in the day.

Perhaps eating my body weight in tacos helped? For dinner we went to a TexMex restaurant called Twisted Taco to use a Groupon I purchased awhile ago.

 IMGP1102

Ummm…not the best meal of my life. Actually, not even good in the most general sense. Even the service was awful! I ordered one of the taco platters. I chose a grilled steak and blue cheese, fish, and pork taco.

 IMGP1106

Meh. And that’s being generous with my description. On the bright side, the terrible service will give Peter and I a funny memory for the time to come! I don’t think that waiter could have forgotten or screwed up more things if he tried.

  • What’s the worst service you have had at a restaurant?
  • Do you like to hike?
