Makenzie says thank you for all her birthday wishes. 🙂 I still cannot believe it has been two years! Time really does fly. Did you know that today also marks 9 months since I have been blogging? In some ways, it feels like it has been longer than that…and in other ways it also went by in the blink of an eye. The 21st remains a popular date for me, since my official due date falls on my one year blog birthday – January 21st! Exactly three months from today.

I really hope I don’t go the full three months, however. That date is based off my first ultrasound and is actually about a week off when I know I ovulated and when the midwives believe I could deliver. I’m all for having only around 2.5 months left! Especially if things continue looking well.

I had my 7 month check-up today. What a fun one. The 7 month appointment includes the blood glucose test to screen for gestational diabetes. That entails a fasting period and a nasty sugar beverage to down before my appointment. This morning, I had a typical bowl of oats for breakfast and then followed it up with a Turbo Jam workout since I knew I would have no energy for it when starved later.


I also wanted to try to work up an appetite since I had to be sure to eat a small, balanced meal right at 11 am as my last meal before the appointment. I typically don’t eat until 12:30 after breakfast and didn’t really crave anything. I figured the best option for that time was a breakfast sandwich.


It satisfied…then somehow left me STARVING an hour later, but I could do nothing. I had to wait until after my 3:30 appointment to eat again. I did have the option command to drink this delectable orange sugar beverage 30 minutes before my appointment though. Yummy! Not.


At least my appointment went well. Yet again the doctors can’t keep their mouths shut about my weight. No surprise there, though. Although this time it was because I somehow managed to lose a couple pounds. I’ve kind of given up on the “I don’t want to know” thing. I simply ignore the weight aspect because I still believe it doesn’t show anything and I don’t care.

My body does its own thing, what can I say? Gain 9 one month, lose 2 the next without changing a single thing related to how I eat or workout. All that concerns me is that everything checks out well. My stomach still grew and measures right on track. Baby B is no longer in breached position. My blood pressure is perfect and I trust my blood work to come back normal as well. Now if only I could do something about the achy hips and back, the sciatic pain, the crazy hormones, and my general readiness to feel more myself again. Somehow, I think those 3 months won’t pass as quickly as the past 2 years seem to have passed. 😉

    When I was pregnant with my son they wanted me to gain 40 pounds becaus I was almost 10 pounds under weight. So, what did I do…I gained 52 just in case. 😉 I gained 25 pounds with my daughter and they both came out 7 pounds 3 ounces. Go figure! Just enjoy being pregnant. You look fantastic!

      Yet another example that weight doesn’t determine everything about a pregnancy and whether or not it is healthy. 😉

  3. its funny you mention that because sometimes I take a spin class and it can feel like it DRAGS on, but when I AM the instructor is FLIES by so fast!!! Thats why I love instructuing 🙂

  5. I hated the glucose test! I drank it and had a headache for two days. I got a lot of grief about my weight and only gained 17 pounds but had a super health and big baby!

      You would think. LOL Even just from mine. It’s like I didn’t gain anything, then gained “normal” one month, then gained “too much”, and now “not enough”. Sheesh people!

    My best friend is going to give birth to her second baby any day now! Well no later than October 27th which is only a week away! I feel like the expectant mom. I can’t freaking wait and of course that means that the days are crawling by. I love being an aunt, I get to spoil the kid rotten and than when they start screaming or need a diaper changed, I get to give in this case, him, back to mom or dad.

    Sorry for the overuse of exclamations marks. I’m just so excited.

  10. Thanks for stopping by! I’m 7 months preggers too and I just had to do my glucose test last week although I haven’t heard the results yet (if they don’t call, it’s good news, right??) I’m also trying to work out and eat healthy through this pregnancy – it’s our first and I’m a super workout addict without being preggers. This whole tired and lazy thing is new to me.

      I think that is the HARDEST thing for me. Not feeling like myself because I’m way more tired, cranky, etc than typical. I cannot wait to get back into my usual fitness groove and extra energy for life in general soon enough. You know – after the first month or two of sleep deprivation. 😉

      I don’t count the time I blogged on the other blog because to me it wasn’t really a blog…more of an online journal of my workouts leading up to show. Plus, it was so sporadic and I didn’t care about it at all. I really go from when I started Faith Fitness Fun because that’s when I sat down and really thought “Do I want to do this? What do I want to share? Will I commit to it?” and then FFF was born. 🙂

      And yea…I journaled FOREVER on O2. I think 3+ years?

    Glad you got that over with! Doesn’t sound like fun at all. I hate fasting-type tests, or anything else external that messes with my eating schedule.

    Exercising for a really long time seems to make the time drag for me. And starving does it too (although I’m not really wanting to ‘go there’ now with either of those.

    My husband used to eat oats as his regular breakfast on camping trips, fortified with nuts, etc, but lately he’s found that they don’t hold him at all – he’s _ravenous_ less than an hour later. I want to try seeing if adding protein powder to them would make it better for him, and I know it wasn’t the oats but the sandwich that you experienced that with, but it’s funny how sometimes something that’s supposed to ‘stick to you’ really doesn’t.

    I’ve been reading blogs for about a year and had my own since February.

    I hate not being able to eat for medical tests. I’m always cranky and prepared with a snack for after.

    I’ve never been pregnant but is weight really that large of an indicator of a healthy pregnancy? Doesn’t it depend on your pre-pregnancy weight? You have such an amazing outlook 🙂 I hope that the rest of pregnancy goes well (and as quickly as you want it). Being pregnant seems tough both physically and mentally, it’s AMAZING what our bodies as women can do!

      Too much or too little weight gain can be related to other complications, like low birth weight or gestational diabetes, preeclampsia, etc. That’s why they like to keep an eye on it. I just believe that within a normal pregnancy, if a woman eats relatively balanced and stays moderately active (if possible), she will gain just what she needs. And that is different for everyone.

  19. Time drags when I am sick! My stomach is realllllly bad a loooot of days, and time seems to stop. I think it is because it limits (ummm DESTROYS) my mobility, and it’s hard to pass time quickly when you have to rest all day. Bor-ing.

    Time also seems to slow down when I go for a run. Ew.

    Happy 9 month blogging day! I’ve been reading blogs for a long time, and had my first blog (on livejournal)…like…seven or eight years ago.

  22. I have been blogging since December 2006, but I took hiatus for almost all of 2009. Then my son was diagnosed with multiple food allergies, and I started blogging again to chronicle our journey together. I would say my “new” blog is almost 4 months old. 🙂

    Do you really enjoy Turbo Jam? I am currently wavering between it and Hip Hop Abs for my next fitness purchase.

      I do really enjoy it. I have never tried Hip Hop Abs though but Turbo Jam is fun and I love that the workouts are only about 45 mins in length.

    So glad everything checked out perfectly. I found the orange drink to not be so bad…at least not as bad as I had read it would be. My little guy came 2 weeks before my due date. I was more than ready for him when I hit the 37 week-full term mark!

      My was two weeks early from my ultrasound due date…and one week before my original due date based on ovulation. I’m really hoping this pregnancy goes the same route. LOL

  29. Is it rude of me to ask how much weight you’ve gained? I’m just curious because you look fabulous. My best friend is due december 12 and has gained 25 lbs. She looks GREAT and no one has said anything about her weight… maybe it’s just your doctor? Anyways, I think you look awesome!

      I don’t really care to share it outright in the post because I don’t want it to feed comparison from others who may be pregnant or have any sort of negative impact. I have gained 11 lbs this pregnancy. Although I do think my body tends to gain less overall because I have to gain weight in order to conceive. I also have a different doctor this time because we wanted to deliver at a closer hospital. I really, really like them but they do seem to have more focus on weight than my last doctor.

  30. I always am amazed at the popularity of blogs in such a short time. Admittedly, I’m not consistent, don’t really seek out readers, and do it more for me, but I’ve been at it like a year and 1/2. You’d never know it.

  31. Time seems to stand still around 2:00 pm at work. It seems like the whole morning flies by until lunch time, then after that it’s brutal. Time flies when I am reading blogs in my google reader or spending time on the internet in general.

    I started reading blogs a little over 2 years ago, and I started my own a little over a year ago. I sometimes wonder what I would do with all the time I spend reading, blogging, and social media-ing in general 🙂 Knitting? Reading a book?

    I started reading baby and mammy blogs in December, when I decided to TTC. I felt in love with couple of them, so I turned one of my old blogs into my personal TTC journal detailing my health, fashion and beauty plan towards the journey of motherhood. I began trying for baby in April but due to period miscalcolation nothing has I just go the negative. I am still TTC but I take account of my plans for our move to Canada 😉

    So I have been blogging for 10 months, LOL 🙂

    I didn’t mind the tast of the glucose test although it gave me the jitters and I felt like my heartbeat was that of a hummingbird pace. Who needs Red Bull with something like that!
    I tried the I don’t want to know my weight either, but my weight fluctuated so much I just said “fuget about it”.

      Yea. Each visit they have something to say. I understand the reasoning behind them bringing it up. First, they were trying to reassure me its okay I hadn’t gained anything (which I knew anyways). Then it was that if something was going on to cause a 9 lb gain I would need to watch out so it didn’t become too much. Then it’s “Oh you werent trying to not gain were you?”. LOL

      And I ended up with such a bad headache and fatigue last night, which I really think came from the sugar crash of that crazy orange drink.
