Productive, Baby!

Posted: December 8, 2010 at 8:21 pm

I knocked the productivity ball out of the park today. I killed my to-do list, despite it being quite the long one.

This morning I had to head to the store to pick up stamps, laundry detergent, and sweet potatoes…because don’t you know it’s impossible to get everything on your first weekly trip? I know it’s not just me. Then, I stopped by the post office to mail something for Peter.

After getting home, I got to work prepping our dinner. Makenzie loved having the chance to help out by tossing sweet potato chunks into the crockpot.

I also knockaed out two loads of laundry and dishes today. Plus, a ton of prep work for the tutoring I did earlier this afternoon. Most importantly, I still managed to fit in moments for myself and those quality moments with little M. During her nap I relaxed with my usual blog reading…and discovered the coffee + hot chocolate mix does NOT suit me. Blech. I was so shocked! Not quite as shocked as what I found when I went upstairs because I could hear little footsteps roaming around.

At least she sneaks from her nap to read books like her children’s Bible. Although I’m not quite sure on the shedding of the pants? Whatever floats her boat I guess.

But does stripping put you on Santa’s naughty list? I should ask. We’re buddies. I even got him to make a special video message for M.

Click on the image above and check it out (especially any moms who do Santa). It’s SO cute! Look at how excited M was when watching.

I can’t believe how much she is growing. And how cool would it have been to have things like that growing up?

Lastly, I had my 34 weeks (8.5 months) prenatal visit today. I made sure to share once again about all the discomfort, pressure, contractions, etc I have increasingly felt. The midwife I saw today didn’t share the same affinity for the dramatic as the last one I saw. She says to keep doing what I’m doing – resting more, drinking extra fluids when they start, and not to worry. She also told me my belly growth jumped and I am now measuring a week ahead. It sure feels like it!

And I’m all for him making his appearance sometime early January. It can’t get here soon enough!

  • Do you enjoy busy and productive days? I think it helped distract me and made for a great day for me!

  2. Heather says:

I remember seeing that santa video last year. so cute! Love the belly pic. I hope he comes early for you!

  3. Camille says:

Well, that video is the cutest thing ever!
I may have just made one for my boyfriend 🙂

  4. I so enjoy productive days and I will be having lots of them over the next week. I have no choice. I hope that you get your wish and baby B comes early!

  5. Lisa says:

Omg that is so awesome! I never knew they had stuff like that online! I would have totally beleived that!

  6. Little M is so cute helping you cook!! Her hands are so tiny!

I love productive days! It makes me feel better about life on the whole. I also tend to sleep better because I am exhausted.

    • Tina says:

I slept great last night! I only had to wake up 2x to pee and about 4x to change position to get comfortable…and always fell right back asleep. That’s a really, really good night for me right now. LOL

  7. My grandma always threatened to call santa if we were bad.

I bet I would have believed her more if I had a visual. :p

    • Tina says:

I refuse to do the Santa threats. We actually tell her Santa brings presents because he wants to share love like Jesus came to do. And he loves to bring gifts to the children who love Jesus and others too. It seems to motivate her to listen to us, share, not throw tantrums when we remind her of that. I try not to say “Santa’s watching you. Don’t you want your presents???”

  8. I love that your little cutie was throwing in the sweet potatoes. That’s how I learned to love to cook. I helped with everything. I do the same with my cousins when they come to visit.

  9. lindsay says:

oh yes, a marked off to-do list is one the best feelings in the world. Its like a runners high!
Glad you knocked it out! I hope baby B comes early so you feel comfortable again. Hoping for a week early! YEA!

  10. Astrid says:

I live for busy productive days. I always feel so much better about…everything, when I am productive. If I have nothing to do, I make something to do and try to be productive. It is either that, or go crazy in my head. And that is not an option.

  11. Kat says:

Makenzie is too adorable! I know after my parents used to tuck me in when I was little, I would grab the Boxcar Children book I had stashed by my bed and would read into the night by my night light. It was the best.

I’m definitely not a mocha girl myself, so I can understand how the coffee-hot cocoa combo didn’t really rock for you, 11/10 for trying!

  12. Natalie says:

I love being productive, it’s such a great feeling to cross stuff off of your to-do list! I’m the same way, either chocolate OR coffee, but not mixed.

  13. sophia says:

you would think that what with me in the middle of finals, I would be as productive and busy as you! But nope, I’m making no progress each day. But babies trump exams, obviously. 😉

  14. Karen says:

I love feeling so accomplished after a productive day. I love crossing things off to-do lists! There’s something in my personality that makes to-do lists fun.

  15. Heather says:

Haha – my son takes his pants off all the time, too! I swear he lives in his underwear. 🙂
Your belly looks so cute – hang in there!

  16. I know you are ready to get rid of your pregnant belly, but I don’t believe there is anything more cute than one! Especially by the Christmas tree!

M looks so pleased there on the couch!

  17. I absolutely love busy and productive days! The feeling of checking things off my to do list one at a time is the best! M is too cute as always!

  18. Lauren says:

I love being productive. This morning was so productive – 8 am class, 75 min yoga, lunch date – all before noon. I loved it!

  19. Heather says:

HURRAY!!!! i’m so glad you had a good, productive day…and most importantly spent quality time with your gorgeous girl 🙂

  20. Libby says:

Saw you stumbled onto my blog (ELF: A Family Blog). Glad to have new readers.

You look FABULOUS! I am so jealous. I didn’t ever look that good and you’re even on number 2! Wow.

I love productive days, sadly I don’t get as many in as I used to, but I try. Working all day and then coming home while the hubs leaves for full-time work at night makes it difficult to get things done, but I’m learning.

My newest accessory. A baby carrier. Love it! Can’t wait to put it to use on the next grocery trip!

Thanks again for stopping by my blog! Hope you keep reading!

  21. She looks so cute watching that!

  22. Dorry says:

I love busy, productive days! Today was definitely one of them. But I also love slow-paced days when I can keep up with all of my favorite blogs. 🙂

  23. Beth says:

I am curious when your actual due date is… Also, if you don’t mind me asking, how long did it take for you to get pregnant with your 1st? My husband and & are on to month 4 and getting a little discouraged….

    • Tina says:

My official due date is the 21st based on my first ultrasound, but based on when I ovulated it should be about a week before that. The midwives have always kind of leaned towards him likely arriving more around the 12-16, which would be fine by me.

With M we got pregnant our first month of trying and tracking my cycle. With B it took 6 months, even though I knew when I ovulated and was able to more carefully/”accurately” plan with him. I highly recommend the site fertilityfriend.com to track cycles if you aren’t doing so already. I always ovulated day 18 of my cycle, and if I hadn’t had known that it would have taken us longer if we went by the standard of day 14.

It’s a tough time when trying to conceive. I hope you get the positive you are hoping for SOON! 🙂

  24. Oh my goodness your little girl is so cute! And the santa video is such a great idea!!

  25. So great to hear that you had a better day! 🙂

I love the days where I am constantly busy and doing things. I feel much more productive and (usually) happier at the end of the day! 🙂

  26. Marg says:

How sweet, the video is such a neat idea! I love productive days.

  27. M is so sweet. I love when kids are into books.

That baby belly’s looking good 🙂 A New Year baby! What an awesome way to start 2011. (Wow, that was weird to type)

  28. Awww little M is precious! So funny about the pants 🙂

  29. How cute is it that little M snuck out of nap time to read? I love that!

A girl I work with did that Santa video for her son. Its pretty much the coolest thing ever eh?

  30. Anna says:

I love productive days. Busy days with no down time wear me down but when they turn productive it energizes me.

  31. Tatianna says:

I can’t decide which is cuter, Makenzie or your baby belly! Seriously, you are going to have the most adorable Christmas out of anyone I know this year!

I’m glad you had a productive day. I love that feeling of getting absolutely everything done and then some!

PS. I don’t like coffee + hot chocolate either! Just plain gross 😛

  32. Dang woman, that was a lot…and a doctors appointment! I am impressed! I love productive days because you feel like you have done something good instead of wasted a day.

My kids no longer do Santa. It is sad, but I don’t think it lasts as long as it did when we were kids. I won’t even go in to how kids at school ruined it…it stinks that the fairy tale was gone so soon. However, my boys are old enough now, we talked about started to go on trips at Christmas instead of a lot of gifts!

  33. I definitely enjoy days when I’m busy but super productive. Makes me feel like I’ve accomplished a lot. And of course, they do need to be off set with a lazy day too 😉

  34. I love days like that! I feel so good at the end of the day when I’ve gotten a lot done.
I love seeing all the pictures of M. She’s such a doll.

  35. Rachel says:

I love the picture of your daughter sitting on the counter–My son does that too sometimes when I cook and “helps.”

And I’d much rather have a productive day than a lazy one…I feel a little like I’ve wasted the day sometimes if I don’t accomplish much!

  36. I love productive days! Usually Saturdays are my lazy day and then Sunday I kick it into high gear and get tons of stuff done 🙂

M is so adorable and that Santa idea is really cute! I’ll have to share that with my sister in law — her daughter is 2 1/2. She’d love it! Also — my niece ALWAYS takes her pants off when we babysit her. Especially if she uses the bathroom — once the pants are 1/2 off they come all the way off. She is hilarious.

  37. I love busy days! Makes me feel really good that I Accomplished so much! M is so so adorable!! Hope the new little one pops out right on time!

  38. Jess says:

Wow! Look at Baby B in there! Growing nicely for mama – I bet you’ll get a surprise early peek at the little one 😉

  39. Katie says:

My perfect day is my ME time in the morning with my swim and then busy production the rest of the day!

Sounds like you had a good one. 🙂

  40. Love the Santa video, I do this for my daughter too. She thinks it is the coolest thing, and the look on her face is priceless!!

Yay for being a week ahead??!!! That means you are closer than you expected 🙂 Love your belly, so cute!

  41. Maura says:

Those elmo slippers kills me every time.
