2011 – The Attitude To Achieve
Posted: December 31, 2010 at 11:12 amThank you all so much for the support last night and earlier today via your comments, tweets, emails, etc. I love my bloggy friends! Although still tired and ready to deliver this baby, I feel a ton better today. It takes work, but keeping the right attitude certainly pays off. I don’t like going through life upset and distraught. So, you will always see me push through with a little help from God, loved ones, and you all. Onto today’s topic! My own personal spin on the resolution game…
Goals. Resolutions. Intentions. Hopes. Dreams. Any other name under the sun. We all have them in some way, shape, or form. Many of us reflect on them as we approach a new year….tomorrow! I have thought about what I would list as my “resolutions” and I do have some ideas.
- Get back to my “happy place” post-baby
- Other fitness related goals such as running a race, achieving old strength training accomplishments, etc that I mentioned before
- Continue developing Faith, Fitness, Fun
- Continue deepening my faith and relationship with God
- Being the most devoted wife and mother I possibly can
Looking at those goals, however, I almost feel like they have already happened. Whenever I think ahead to 2011 I feel an extreme excitement. Something deep within my gut tells me it will be a year full of fabulous changes and growth. I anticipate nothing less than seeing my above “resolutions” happen. 2011 already makes me all giddy inside. I believe it will be that good.
And that, my friends, is exactly the point I want to express. I believe. I believe in myself to take the necessary steps, one day at a time, to bring about the progress I anticipate. I trust that in making the most of each day I will end up reaching, or possibly surpassing, my hopes and dreams. I have faith that focusing on living well and giving time to all things important to me will naturally lead me down the fruitful path God has before me.
Katie, who writes the amazing blog Health for the Whole Self, posted that she plans to have a word to focus on for her year instead of a bunch of resolutions. That really resonated with me. I have decided on my word. TRUST. I trust my body to get to a place where I feel great because I trust myself to care for it. I trust my path with this blog to fulfill me because I trust God’s plan for it in my life. I trust my family will feel my devotion because I trust my love to overflow to them every day.
I will trust. I will believe. I will achieve. Believe in yourself. Get excited for all you can do! You can! You will! Approach the year with faith in yourself and a powerful attitude. I have no doubt whatever is on your list will work itself out, too. Cheers to 2011! It’s gonna be a good one.
Question of the Day – Do you think attitude has an impact on goals? If you had to pick a word to describe your 2011, what would you choose? Thanks, Katie for that great reflection!!

2011 IS going to be a GREAT YEAR!
I like the word trust! I want to keep that in mind all year too. It is definitely something I need to work on. I also just want to live life again this year!
it’s one thing for me to preach over and over again about how much i believe in you– but it’s another for YOU to believe in you.
youre always in my thoughts and prayers. but you should be proud of all you’ve achieved this year. the joy that baby will bring you will make all of this worth it. never lose sight of that
wishing you a happy healthy and safe new years eve!
I definitely think that attitude has an impact! If you believe that you can achieve things, then you will, simple! 🙂
I have no doubt you’ll acheive all your goals! The last two are so sweet! I love reading FFF, so keep up the great work! 😀
Absolutely. I think attitude has a huge impact. I love Katie’s idea of picking one word. If i had to pick one as my focus, I’d probably choose balance. In the past I’ve thrown most of my efforts into fitness goals, but 2011 is going to be about balancing out my focus on other aspects like my career, spirituality, and relationships. I love what you’ve done with FFF since I started reading earlier this year, and can’t wait to see what’s in store for it (and you!!) in 2011! 🙂 Happy New Year Tina!
LOVE this post, Tina! Especially the word you chose – trust. I need to trust myself, trust my body, trust my soul more often. Of course now you have me thinking what 2011 is for me in just one word…I think it’s going to be a year of challenges, but I’m excited and, like you, feel like 2011 is going to be amazing. Happy new year friend!
And I think those challenges will just bring you to places better than you could have ever imagined. It’s going to be a great year for us, my friend. 🙂
Attitude definitely has an impact on goals. If you have a horrible attitude, you are never going to get anything done. If you have a positive attitude, you will get a lot more achieved! 🙂
I love the word you chose Tina! If I had to choose one for 2011 it would be strength. It can span across many different aspects of my (20!) 2011 goals. Physical strength through fitness and running and emotional strength as I finish undergrad and look to graduate schools.
Have a wonderful NYE! 🙂
Great word – trust. I love it. It encompasses so much of life.
I think that your goals are directly correlated to the attitude you CHOOSE to have. If I think my goals are too hard to achieve, well then, I’m probably not going to achieve them. However, if I go at it with a positive attitude, the sky is the limit!
If you believe, you will achieve. Attitude is everything! Going into the New Year with confidence and trust will only bring amazing things!! Happy New Year! 🙂
I always find it SO amazing how much similarity you can find in this lovely blog world of ours. 🙂
I believe that attitude is ultimately what brings you closer to your goals and dreams. You see, we can write any goal. We can say what we want and even dream it- but without the attitude…we can lose it.
That is why my theme for this year (I set one too!) is to believe. Believe in myself. Believe I can, I will, I deserve, I am able. The belief in myself is what will drive my attitude, shift my attitude when it needs to be and refocus my attitude. My belief is the driving force of everything!
Have a wonderful new year!
Great minds do think alike. 😉
My word for 2011 is Balance… because life lived in the extremes does NOT lead to extreme happiness. It’s only in the balance of the middle ground that we may live fully and gracefully.
I love your mentality! I trust that I will be taken care of in 2011 in all aspects of my life! Happy new year! xoxo
I think we all NEED a good year! I see so many people suffering and we all need to feel like there is something good around the corner! My word is going to be Positive. I need to focus on the positive and not dwell on the not so great.
I think when it comes down to it, attitude is everything! If things don’t go the way we want in life, we get to choose to have a positive attitude and adjust accordingly. I loved Katie’s post and I’ve been thinking about my word for 2011. I have a few in mind but not 100% sure yet!
I think attitude is about 75% of accomplishing goals. If you don’t believe in yourself, no one will believe in you!
Great post! I absolutely believe that attitude has a huge impact!
I would choose “be”. It’s easy to think about the kind of person I wish to be, as if it’s outside my control. I need to recognize that with every choice I make, I can choose to “be” that person that I aspire to, or at least take steps in the right direction.
Happy New Year!
Ohhh….this is good. So profound, yet still a simple adjustment that can make big changes. I love it!
Great post. I definitely believe that attitude has a big impact on goals. My word for 2011 is “me” – I know that sounds selfish, but this year I want to focus on myself, on loving myself, enjoying being by myself, and being the person that I’ve always wanted to be. Happy new Year!
Not selfish at all. We all have to put ourselves as a priority. Self-care is extremely important. It’s why I will never feel guilty for continuing to blog or make time for workouts, even while adjusting to a bigger family. I know it will make me a better person in those areas. You do what you need to do for YOU!
attitude is everything. Thats why I love reading blogs that have that attitude. we need that support!
Attitude is everything! A positive attitude can change any situation around!
Picking one word is hard, but I think I’d pick STRONG.
Happy 2011 to you Tina! Cheers to an easy labor – you deserve it after all you’re going through:)
Happy new year! I trust that 2011 will be a great year! 🙂
My word would be work, because I really believe that most of our goals and aspirations are at our hands and can be achieved if we just put the effort, Or maybe effort would be my word. It encompasses the same things and sounds better!
MOST DEFINITELY attitude plays a role – “whatever you focus on gets bigger” and you can choose to focus on positive and good.
I have two words for the upcoming year –> DO LIFE.
HAPPY NEW YEAR, Tina – to you + your family!
attitude definitely impacts/effects goals! mind over matter stuff..what we believe CAN and will shape our realities…i truly believe that!
here’s to you having a healthy baby…and soon 🙂
It’s funny, I am picking my word right now, and I am 99% leaning toward Trust as my word as well. I always look up the end of suspence-ful movies on Wikipedia, because I NEED to know how everything will turn out. In my own life, I just want to trust that everything will work out well, without knowing exactly what will happen.
I love your 2011 word! I would definitely pick “Growth” as my word. I want to grow and development as a person. I have many “faults” to work on, but I believe I can do it! Happy New Year!
You have great passion, and that, coupled with trust, is going to bring you far in life, especially in 2011. You are in my prayers, Tina. Thank you for all of your words of inspiration, honesty, and heart!
My 2011 is whole.
Whole self, whole foods, whole life, whole (new) family!
Tina,
I’ve been at the point for the past few months where even at the thought of 2011, I tear up. Something tells me it’s going to be a wonderful year, too, and thinking about it makes me the same as you: giddy. Reading what you had to say about there just being a gut feeling that’s telling you 2011 will be full of wonderful things makes me think of how much I can’t wait for this year. I feel the same way.
Faith is the word I pick for 2011. Faith that my life will be even fuller than it ever has been before. Faith that I can obtain my goals. Faith that God will lead me in the right direction, even if it means enduring an upset here and there.
Thanks for reminding me of the excitement…it did, truthfully, make me tear up. (Cheesy, I know. But true.)
Happy New Year pretty Momma. 1 cm is progress! 😀
I too, believe in you! Happy New Year, so glad to have found you and your blog.
I believe in you! Go get ’em girl! Happy New Year! You are a beautiful momma bloggie!
xxoxo
I think ‘hopeful’ would describe my 2011. I’m always excited to see what the new year brings!
What an awesome post! I believe in you: I’m absolutely sure that you can accomplish those things. And yes, I do believe that your attitude toward your resolutions can enormously impact how successfully they are carried out.
Thank you for this wonderful suggestion. My word would have to be ’empowerment:’ I’m aiming to move from constant low-level self-sabotage to actually accomplishing what I set out to do.My exciting mfa news will help focus that.
love
Ela
I am very behind on my blogs, so I just saw this and WOW! First, thank you for the shout-out, and second, I love, love, love your word choice. It really seems so perfect for you, Tina! I can’t wait to see how 2011 unfolds for you. 🙂
[…] are lots of goals going on in posts on my favourite […]
I love focusing on positive words like “trust” and “believe”…I think, for me, it has a HUGE impact on my attitude about everything. Sometimes for me it’s a “fake it til you make it” type thing, but I do think it’s contagious and gets easier! I have no doubt 2011 will bring you only the best things in life, Tina. 🙂
“trust” I think that would be my word too. I’m constantly struggling with that and yes I believe attitude has an impact on goals.
I haven’t set any goals this year besides learn how to make sourdough bread. Right now I’m focusing on attitude and being present. “Trusting” 🙂 that everything else will fall into place.
That is the best resolution idea I have heard in awhile because I have to admit I am not the best at resolutions. My word would have to be “Growth”, I want to grow as a person (not in size, lol). The more I learn the better!
Attitude is a big thing in reaching my goal, also it helps if the people you surround yourself with have a positive attitude too. Sometimes it I find myself being brought down by negative attitudes so I try to stay away from them.
That baby will be there faster than you know it!
