What I’m Loving These Days

Finally Having OUR Shower

IMG_0092

Almost 3 years ago, while pregnant with Makenzie, Peter and I remodeled our entire upstairs. Part of that remodel included gutting our master bathroom and redoing everything – including the creation of a large, beautifully tiled shower with two shower heads. Then, we proceeded to not order shower glass for said shower for a long time. Long time as in the glass got installed last Friday long time. I have waited almost THREE YEARS to shower in this dang shower and not a shower filled with Makenzie’s bath toys. Needless to say, this goes on the “Things I’m Currently Loving” list.

The Return of So You Think You Can Dance

so-you-think-you-can-dances-shocking-changes-for-season-seven

So You Think You Can Dance could very well be my favorite show on TV. I even like it more than Glee. So happy to have it back. If you haven’t seen it before – tune in tonight!

My Rolling Pin

IMGP1412

Although not for the reason you would expect. The rolling pin doesn’t get any glory for helping me create some awesome bread or cookie recipe. No. It gets credit for helping relieve my achy muscles. Don’t laugh when I tell you it works better on my calves and hamstrings than any foam roller every could. Who needs a Tiger Tail when you can buy an $8 rolling pin?

Black Bean Wraps

IMGP1315

You know I go through food phases. Right now, I long for black beans mashed up and tossed in a wrap with anything else delicious as my lunch. Every. Day. Black beans with avocado and goat cheese. Black beans with salsa, romaine, and cheddar. Black beans with hummus and tomato. I’m loving it. Peter…not so much. 😉

Checking Things Off

checklist

My to-do list after a weekend away had my head in a tail spin the first half of the week. I felt like I went non-stop, yet things never got accomplished. Finally, last night I got all caught up. Checking things off my to-do list feels uh-mazing.

Impending Vacation Excitement

awwwww!!! little Makenzie!!!

Normally when I return from vacation I will feel the slightest disappointment at not having something big and fun to look forward to anymore. Not this time! I just got back from Baltimore and will be heading away for the annual family Daytona trip in just a little over two weeks. I love vacation anticipation! Chatting this week with a few awesome ladies I get to visit just amps the excitement.

Budgeting

Okay…this totally reveals my nerdy number loving side, but I can’t help it! After the financial savvy I Was Broke. Now I’m Not. event Peter and I attended earlier this month, we got a new fire to revamp our spending ways. We finally sat down and hashed out a real budget…with a fancy, schmancy spreadsheet and everything. We’ve both always been good with trying to save money, but never had a set budget. I secretly loved setting one up down to the last cent and am kind of loving the chance to put it to use. I score all the cool points.

  • Any summer TV shows you absolutely LOVE?
  • What’s something slightly nerdy that you find totally awesome?

  2. that shower is sweeeeet! before i had my foam roller i was using a to-go coffee mug.. i was desperate 🙂 your rolling pin is much better!

  3. Your shower is gorgeous! I can’t imagine staring at that for 3 years and not being able to shower in it.

My favorite summer TV show is True Blood. Can’t wait for the season to start!

  4. UGH, my list is not getting smaller! It keeps growing! That shower looks amazing! Great use of the rolling pin. I used mine on Tony’s shins last summer. He thought I was crazy, but it felt so good!

  5. Michelle says:

Oh, I’m definitely going to have to try out that rolling pin! Why didn’t I think of that??

    Your shower is beautiful!!

How exciting about your Daytona vacation! If I wasn’t going to be in Dallas I would insist on being invited to meet up with you 🙂 I hope you guys have fun!

Is the Financial Learning University similar to Dave Ramsey? If so I’m a big believer! I haven’t put all of those principles into motion – but we did pay off about $12k in debt in the past 2 years and managed to save a ton!

    • Tina says:

I’m not sure how similar it is to Dave Ramsey but I liked it.

And I am a spaz. I don’t think I even realized you were in Orlando!

  6. Erica says:

Awesome shower! We have one with two shower heads too- it is GLORIOUS! And I am a huge so you think you can dance fan. Can’t wait for it to start 🙂 Um…I write things down just so I can check them off 😉 Love!

  7. love so you think you can dance and didn’t know it was back on– thanks for sharing!

  8. black bean wraps sound SO good!! i am also LOVING your shower!!

right now I am on SUCH a smoothie kick and experiementing with all sorts of combinations! i just had one with frozen butternut squash, vanilla protein powder, cinnamon and nutmeg and it tasted like pumpkin pie!

  9. Lauren says:

Your shower looks AWESOME!! We did this type of shower in our new house and it was SUCH A PAIN to do and took forever but it’s so worth it. I love it and I especially love that I don’t have to clean it as much now. The tile is so much easier to clean.

    • Tina says:

So you can relate to the remodel madness? Oh my goodness! I was so stressed. And poor Peter. He did it all himself and was up late for months working on stuff after work and all weekend.

  10. Loooooove your shower!! Reminds me of the one webjanon our old house that I miss so much. Enjoy!! 🙂

  11. SYTYCD is my FAVE! I’ve seen it in Atlanta live a few times – yes, that obsessed. However, I HADN’T set a series recording so thanks to you I only missed 5 minutes rather than 2 hours!!

Your shower is my dream shower – awesome!

  12. Parita says:

That shower is gorgeous! I love budgeting as well. I recently signed up with Mint.com, and I’m not going to lie, it excites me!

  13. lindsay says:

oh I am watching it now! Never seen it. and boy, I can’t wait till a vacation. BEACH!

  14. that shower is absolutely gorgeous! love it.

  15. LauraJayne says:

SYTYCD is probably my favorite show on television (maybe tied with Project Runway)! I’m bummed I’m still at work – trying to hurry to record it so I don’t miss a minute!

  16. I love financial stuff, especially budgeting type things. Totally nerdy, I know.

That shower is amazing — I so want two showerheads!

  17. I am slightly.. okay overly .. obsessed with Big Brother. July 7.. can’t wait!

  18. OMG I am obsessed with your shower! I just showed it to my husband and he says we must get one like that one day!

  19. Jolene says:

um, I am totally watching SYTYCD as we speak! My ABSOLUTE FAVE summer show! one of the few I watch in the summer. Love it. And love that pic of you and Mackenzie. PS – total shower envy. before I had to sell my house, my ex and I had remodeled our bathroom top to bottom. I still want to cry just thinking of someone else enjoying my beautiful bathroom that I only got to enjoy for a few months, after spending 10s of thousands on it. So I will live vicariously through YOUR shower 🙂 Enjoy!!

  20. Why have I never thought of using a rolling pin!? You’re so smart.

I love vacation anticipation too. I have TWO coming up in July – I can’t wait!

    • Tina says:

Peter gets all the credit! I wouldn’t have thought of it myself either. I showed him a Tiger Tail online and he said “So basically its a glorified rolling pin??” And so it began. LOL

  21. Karen says:

I love the built-in shelves in your shower…those are really neat!

My favorite summer show is Big Brother…unfortunately there are several more weeks before the new season starts.

  22. Meg says:

Your shower came out gorgeous! You guys did an amazing job. I admit I’m a smidge jealous. 😉

  23. Your shower looks awesome, and little Makenzie looks SO super cute! And I’m ALL ABOUT the to-do list. Sometimes I write extra stuff on my to-do list just to check off more things…well, that takes care of your last question about nerdy stuff we find totally awesome. hehe. 😉

  24. I am so jealous of that shower! I think I’d shower twice a day if I had a shower like that. And then I’d need to go to a finance seminar like you did, because my darn water bill would be through roof! Joking aside, I’m a numbers girl too. It can be stressful to do a play-by-play of where your money goes, but it’s the most responsible thing you can do financially.

  25. SYTYCD is my favorite too! I am so thrilled to be watching it ight now!

  26. your shower is my DREAM!! jealous!

  27. I love that you’re using an $8 rolling pin instead of an expensive tiger tail, so clever! 🙂

I definitely get into food phases as well. Right now I’m in a huge salad, veggie burger, chocolate, overnight oats, and oat bran phase! Peanut butter too I guess but that is a constant!

Congrats on your upcoming vacay! 🙂

  28. Beautiful shower! Reminds me of a hotel!

I love vacation anticipation too. I keep asking my husband “where are we going next?” I definitely need to attend a blog conference this year because you all look like you had so much fun at Fitbloggin’!

I go through phases with food too. 🙂

  29. Casey says:

First of all, I love that you use the rolling pin! Awesome. LOL And like you, I also get a super nerdy secret high off of budgeting. I’ve been doing it for quite a while and I think I just enjoy the challenge of actually following it.

  30. Mac says:

Holy smokes! I’m in love with that shower! I would kill to have one of those in my house when I buy one!

  31. Stacy says:

Love the shower! And I’m like you, I’m a nerdy numbers person so I enjoy making budgets too. Another one of nerdy habits is playing sudoku. That game is the best, although Chris calls it su-dork-u! 🙂

  32. Becca says:

Whoa. What a gorgeous shower! 🙂

Adorable little M. As always! And I love that picture of you + rolling pin + Baby B. 🙂

Not nerdy with numbers, unfortunately. Hate numbers. I prefer words. I most definitely spout random quotes from shows/movies I love on a semi-regular basis. 😀

I am SO EXCITED for Covert Affairs to start up again!! I’m not counting down the days or anything (I think it’s a week or two), but I get such a kick out of Annie and Auggie especially. I’m looking forward to seeing what’s in store this season. 🙂

  33. Elaine says:

    I LOVE that shower!!!!

  34. That’s such a good idea to use a rolling pin as a foam roller! Totally going to do that 🙂

  35. Priyanka says:

I am an excel enthusiast and use it do my finances. That shower is my dream shower, would love to have it some day.

  36. Anna says:

I was so excited all day that SYTYCD was back on! Added bonus is that my sister in law loves it and I am currently staying with her ^_^

I get really excited when I organize. While student teaching, I helped update and organize, file away the choral music. I even stayed several hours after school on my last day to make sure that things were in order. I had a blast!

  37. Love the shower!

I’m excited for True Blood & Big Brother to come back on…I feel like summer tv is better than fall tv now.

  38. Heather says:

That shower is gorg! Reminds me of a tropical vacation shower for some reason. 🙂
I love our Apple tv – totally geeky, but I love everything about it!

  39. LOVE the shower! And I have used my rolling pin on my IT band. Works nicely 😉 I’m super super excited about my annual beach trip. Get there tomorrow!

  40. aneta says:

im also loving that SYTYCD is back~!

  41. Mellissa says:

Love love love that shower, that is what my s.o. is putting in at his house when he remodels his bathroom. Can’t wait for a great shower.

Someone else mentioned Covert Affairs and I really like that show to.

  42. I would never leave that shower. I can’t believe you guys took 3 years to put the glass in, I’d be so whiny looking at that every day and not getting to use it. Great idea to use a rolling pin as a Tiger Tail!

  43. Love the rolling pin idea! I’m always looking for things to help my muscles, but mostly in my back.

  44. I love playing online video games. That’s pretty nerdy 🙂

  45. My mom has busted me using her rolling pin to roll out my sore butt muscles before. It works wonders. 🙂

  46. Kristi says:

I LOVE your shower! I’m so jealous!

  47. Colleen says:

Haha the rolling pin is perfect!!! Love it.

  48. love, love LOVE the shower! (ours has 2 shower heads too!) and also have to agree with the checking off on the to-do list. It’s the little things, right? 😉

  49. Ummm I want your shower!!!! So jealous! 🙂

  50. Gina says:

That shower is amazing!!! I love black bean wraps too, so good 🙂
