What I’m Loving These Days

Almost 3 years ago, while pregnant with Makenzie, Peter and I remodeled our entire upstairs. Part of that remodel included gutting our master bathroom and redoing everything – including the creation of a large, beautifully tiled shower with two shower heads. Then, we proceeded to not order shower glass for said shower for a long time. Long time as in the glass got installed last Friday long time. I have waited almost THREE YEARS to shower in this dang shower and not a shower filled with Makenzie’s bath toys. Needless to say, this goes on the “Things I’m Currently Loving” list.
The Return of So You Think You Can Dance
So You Think You Can Dance could very well be my favorite show on TV. I even like it more than Glee. So happy to have it back. If you haven’t seen it before – tune in tonight!
My Rolling Pin
Although not for the reason you would expect. The rolling pin doesn’t get any glory for helping me create some awesome bread or cookie recipe. No. It gets credit for helping relieve my achy muscles. Don’t laugh when I tell you it works better on my calves and hamstrings than any foam roller every could. Who needs a Tiger Tail when you can buy an $8 rolling pin?
Black Bean Wraps
You know I go through food phases. Right now, I long for black beans mashed up and tossed in a wrap with anything else delicious as my lunch. Every. Day. Black beans with avocado and goat cheese. Black beans with salsa, romaine, and cheddar. Black beans with hummus and tomato. I’m loving it. Peter…not so much. 😉
Checking Things Off
My to-do list after a weekend away had my head in a tail spin the first half of the week. I felt like I went non-stop, yet things never got accomplished. Finally, last night I got all caught up. Checking things off my to-do list feels uh-mazing.
Impending Vacation Excitement

Normally when I return from vacation I will feel the slightest disappointment at not having something big and fun to look forward to anymore. Not this time! I just got back from Baltimore and will be heading away for the annual family Daytona trip in just a little over two weeks. I love vacation anticipation! Chatting this week with a few awesome ladies I get to visit just amps the excitement.
Budgeting
Okay…this totally reveals my nerdy number loving side, but I can’t help it! After the financial savvy I Was Broke. Now I’m Not. event Peter and I attended earlier this month, we got a new fire to revamp our spending ways. We finally sat down and hashed out a real budget…with a fancy, schmancy spreadsheet and everything. We’ve both always been good with trying to save money, but never had a set budget. I secretly loved setting one up down to the last cent and am kind of loving the chance to put it to use. I score all the cool points.

UGH, my list is not getting smaller! It keeps growing! That shower looks amazing! Great use of the rolling pin. I used mine on Tony’s shins last summer. He thought I was crazy, but it felt so good!
Oh, I’m definitely going to have to try out that rolling pin! Why didn’t I think of that??

Is the Financial Learning University similar to Dave Ramsey? If so I’m a big believer! I haven’t put all of those principles into motion – but we did pay off about $12k in debt in the past 2 years and managed to save a ton!
I’m not sure how similar it is to Dave Ramsey but I liked it.

black bean wraps sound SO good!! i am also LOVING your shower!!
right now I am on SUCH a smoothie kick and experiementing with all sorts of combinations! i just had one with frozen butternut squash, vanilla protein powder, cinnamon and nutmeg and it tasted like pumpkin pie!
Oh that does sound good! Refreshing for summer but with delicious fall flavors.
Your shower looks AWESOME!! We did this type of shower in our new house and it was SUCH A PAIN to do and took forever but it’s so worth it. I love it and I especially love that I don’t have to clean it as much now. The tile is so much easier to clean.
So you can relate to the remodel madness? Oh my goodness! I was so stressed. And poor Peter. He did it all himself and was up late for months working on stuff after work and all weekend.

SYTYCD is my FAVE! I’ve seen it in Atlanta live a few times – yes, that obsessed. However, I HADN’T set a series recording so thanks to you I only missed 5 minutes rather than 2 hours!!

um, I am totally watching SYTYCD as we speak! My ABSOLUTE FAVE summer show! one of the few I watch in the summer. Love it. And love that pic of you and Mackenzie. PS – total shower envy. before I had to sell my house, my ex and I had remodeled our bathroom top to bottom. I still want to cry just thinking of someone else enjoying my beautiful bathroom that I only got to enjoy for a few months, after spending 10s of thousands on it. Peter gets all the credit! I wouldn’t have thought of it myself either. I showed him a Tiger Tail online and he said “So basically its a glorified rolling pin??” And so it began. LOL

I am so jealous of that shower! I think I’d shower twice a day if I had a shower like that. And then I’d need to go to a finance seminar like you did, because my darn water bill would be through roof! Joking aside, I’m a numbers girl too. It can be stressful to do a play-by-play of where your money goes, but it’s the most responsible thing you can do financially.

I definitely get into food phases as well. Right now I’m in a huge salad, veggie burger, chocolate, overnight oats, and oat bran phase! Peanut butter too I guess but that is a constant!

I am SO EXCITED for Covert Affairs to start up again!! I’m not counting down the days or anything (I think it’s a week or two), but I get such a kick out of Annie and Auggie especially. I’m looking forward to seeing what’s in store this season. 🙂

I am an excel enthusiast and use it do my finances. That shower is my dream shower, would love to have it some day.
I was so excited all day that SYTYCD was back on! Added bonus is that my sister in law loves it and I am currently staying with her ^_^
I get really excited when I organize. While student teaching, I helped update and organize, file away the choral music. I even stayed several hours after school on my last day to make sure that things were in order. I had a blast!

Love the rolling pin idea! I’m always looking for things to help my muscles, but mostly in my back.
I use the foam roller for my quads and lower back. It does wonders on my back!
I love playing online video games. That’s pretty nerdy 🙂
My mom has busted me using her rolling pin to roll out my sore butt muscles before. It works wonders. 🙂
