Cliché

A lot of what I plan to talk about in this post is soooo cliché but I just don’t care. I will happily be a cliché if it means having a perfect afternoon like I did.

IMGP1284-1

Both the wee ones napped long and hard this afternoon. Which only meant that I worked long and hard too. I got some writing and things done for some sites I’m contributing to next month, shared some good laughs with my top secret weapon for staying in shape, and became a cleaning/laundry folding machine. Once they both woke up (after three hours!!), I was itching to head outdoors to partake in the beautiful weather.

Yes, it’s cliché but I am SO excited for fall type weather!!!! It allows me to get outdoors even more to revel in God's natural beauty.

IMGP1263-1

Although it was a little warmer than fall this afternoon, hitting the low-80s. Still anywhere from mid 70s to low 80s is my perfect temperature and makes me want to sit outside all day.

IMGP1282-1

Wait. Did I say sit? I meant tag around after Makenzie as she runs from one side of the playground to the other more times than I can count.

And the kid has suddenly developed this new sense of adventure. Even a few months ago, she would freak out climbing up the stairs of a playground or going down the slide. Now, I have to make sure she doesn’t fall through the holes of rope ladders. It would inevitably happen. Kid has my klutzo genes.

IMGP1274-1

Makenzie had the time of her life, while poor little B had to munch on some stroller strap for entertainment.

IMGP1261-1

Kidding! He did chill in the stroller for a bit, but I’m not about to keep him from his love of the swing! I could swing him all day to hear his little giggles.

IMGP1271-1IMGP1269-1

Once they burned off over an hour of energy on the playground, we took a brief stroll over to the pond at this particular park to check out the ducks and geese.

IMGP1280-1

Makenzie is obsessed with ducks. It’s kind of insane. Ducks. Ducks. Ducks!

If you’re a friend or family member reading right now and wondering what to get her for her birthday next month…get her some of these little rubber ducks. She will love you forever.

And if you want me to love you forever, bring me a Pumpkin Spice Iced Coffee.

IMGP1287-1

I told you. Cliché.

While hanging out at the park, I spied with my little eye a fellow mom sipping on a Starbucks iced coffee. I immediately felt gripped with a craving. Normally I can tune those types of cravings out, but then I remember the benefits of coffee as part of my healthy motherhood. And after playing for two hours at the park, I needed some coffee in a bad way.

Starbucks decaf iced coffee with two pumps pumpkin spice and non-fat milk. Just how I like love it! Call me a cliché all you want. I’m a proud “pumpkin loving healthy living blogger”,“spend the day at the park stay at home mom”, and "find the joy in everything because God is awesome chick".

  • Do you fit into any clichés? Does it bother you or do you rock it?
  • What is your ideal temperatures?

Just How I Imagined

Good morning after the three day weekend many of us had this week! I heard crickets around here this weekend, so I think a lot of us enjoyed unplugging. It felt good, didn’t it?

If you unplugged and feel like doing a bit of FFF reading, here’s what you may have missed:

Or you could click out of reader and check out the new look at the bottom of the blog! Peter updated things to show my recent posts in a more reader friendly way, so you don’t have to scroll a ton. I love him! And find it so strange he finds CSS coding fun.

I feel very refreshed today after taking things low all day yesterday. It was just how I imagined. I say I find it hard to relax, but once I get in the relaxing mood there is just no stopping me.

After waking up and blogging yesterday morning, I did nothing but enjoy my day in a very laid-back way. Even the gym forced me not to rush my morning since it opened later than usual. I didn’t have to pack two kids up and out the door asap, so I could sit and enjoy some breakfasts with them.

IMGP1184-1

I had a small bowl of Cascadian Farms Chocolate O’s. Yes, I’m closer to 30 than 3, but the kiddie cereal caught my eye. I had a free product coupon from Health Living Summit and I’m going to get what I really want to try. And it was a mighty good decision. Yes. It. Was.

Finally came the time to make it to the gym. I did some legs, shoulders, and abs weights before heading into spin class. Spin class owned me.

As usual. No need to worry. I did actually shower right after the gym this time. Then, hopped straight into my “comfy clothes”. Some oversized men’s boxer shorts and a strappy tank top.

IMGP1190-1

It’s all sorts of high end fashion up in here. Winking smile

I immediately gobbled up a bowl of Mocha Oats. This time with coconut.

IMGP1068-1

It’s like eating a Starbucks mocha coconut frappuccino. I pat myself on the back for that one.

And the caffeine didn’t even keep me awake. Oh, yes. I napped. For the second time in three days. That’s very unusual for me, but I guess I needed to get caught up on some sleep. Thankfully the kids did too because we all spent the afternoon a-dozing.

Just in time to wake up and realize I didn’t have lunch since I had two breakfasts at odd times. I remedied that right away by making a couple of snack plates for Makenzie & I to munch before movie time.

IMGP1187-1

Some sliced sharp cheddar, apple slices, hummus, and “Peter” chips as M calls them. Love that little goober and all her Makenzie-isms.

IMGP1188-1

The rest of the day and night I literally did nothing but plop my booty on the couch or the floor with the family. First, we watched Monster’s Inc. Then, we rolled around the floor with some “pig and duck” playing.

IMGP0912

No one else can be pig but mommy. And I would like to know why. Perhaps I should shower more or not fight my child for food? Hmmmm…

And finally it was time for dinner and bed for the kids, then chill time with the hubby. I didn’t even feel the need to zone out with Bachelor Pad. No desire for mindless television at the end of the night? If that’s not a true sign I had a relaxing day, then I don’t know what is! Winking smile

  • What do your “comfy clothes” look like?
  • When was the last time you tried to unplug for awhile?
