The Real Deal
Posted: January 18, 2011 at 1:00 pmYou know what really irks me? Headlines on magazines like US Weekly with claims like the following: “See How So and So Lost All Her Baby Weight in 10 Days!” or “Celeb X Got Her Pre-Baby Body Back in ONE Month”. You know what I’m talking about. I don’t know if these were actual headlines, but they sure do sound familiar. And okay – it’s true you can lose all the baby weight that fast. As for your body achieving the same shape? For your average Jane without the trainers and nannies, not gonna happen that quickly. It just won’t. That is why I plan to tell all (openly, honestly, and with pictures) here on FFF.
I delivered baby B one week ago. My body looks like this right now.
And it is absolutely perfect. Just how it is. It carried my child for 9.5 months. It nourishes my little man right now. It plays with my beautiful daughter. It is me. It is real. It is beautiful.
Sure, I have fitness goals I want to achieve…but that’s more about caring for myself and doing things I enjoy. I still need to love my body where it’s at in this moment. And I do.
In sharing my “body after baby” journey, I hope to show that it is possible to regain fitness and get back in shape with balance, moderation, and consistency. I want to reflect the reality that it takes time, dedication, and effort but that it can happen.
More important than anything though, I want to express the strength and beauty of our bodies. They can do miraculous things – whether carrying a child or running a mile or hugging a friend. Please love yourself today and every day. I’m beautiful! And you are too.
Question of the Day – What about your body amazes you right now? Remember – be confident!
And for those interested – I shared a link to the sneak peek of Braedon’s newborn photos on my Facebook page. 🙂

This is fantastic!!! Thank you for being so REAL! I love it!!! Hope your mindset get’s spread to a lot of other women/folks who read this…
Gorgeous and glowing! Thank you for sharing YOU!
You always have such great perspective & attitude, Tina! It is very refreshing. 🙂
You are incredible! Thank you for being so real with us. Everything you said is 100% true!!
You look great! It’s definitely NOT easy to love yourself immediately after you have a baby until you think about what you are doing (and have done) to nuture that child.
I think celebrities (not all, but the ones who are featured in those headlines) minimize how difficult pregnancy/birth/new motherhood can be.
Thank you for sharing!
I LOVE IT!!!! thanks for sharing. You do look amazing!! I”m planning on sharing the same thing! I say that now! We’ll see how I feel then! going to go check out the newborn pics! Can’t wait to see!
You are epic and have now raised the bar for mothers every where 🙂
Wow! Awesome! Always wondered what women’s tummies look like after giving birth! You look amazing, Tina 🙂
My body allowed me to train for Couch to 5K and complete 1.3 miles on Monday! But my body is also sick at the moment. Not cool, Body!
you do look beautiful and still absoutely GLOWING!
we need to embrace our bodies for what they can do and stop putting them down.
just amazing, you are an inspiration, tina
I’ve never commented, but I couldn’t help myself on this post. I’m 37 weeks pregnant with my first and can’t help but feel a little nervous at what the next few weeks will bring for my body (and the rest of my life, obviously!) Seeing you be so open, honest and totally beautiful is so helpful. Thank you!
Congrats on the upcoming arrival! And thanks for commenting. 🙂
There are certainly things that can be an adjustment and a challenge, but it is extremely worth it. Focus on the blessings and things will fall into place fine with time. I’m always around if you need to vent or anything too. You will do awesome!
I’ve never commented on a blog before, but I read yours daily and felt compelled to comment on this post. I had a baby about 3 months ago and I think your openness with, acceptance of, and grace with your body are truly inspiring. I’ve struggled with disordered eating the past and had to gain weight to get pregnant with my son. I’m in a much healthier place now (emotionally and physically) and am working on getting back to my body’s “happy place.” Thank you for sharing your daily life with us – I really appreciate how you bring your faith and beliefs into your posts. It’s easy to forget that bloggers are real people, too. Thanks again!
Thank you so much for this comment! I feel so humbled and honored at the same time. Its for reasons like this that make blogging so worthwhile. We can all support each other and reach each others’ lives in ways unimagined. Thanks!
You’re beautiful and I absolutely love this post. I’m so thankful you’re going to share your journey and be real with us all. I’ve struggled with disordered eating and body image issues and I know these struggles will come up after I have a baby. Thank you for showing how real this process is and beautiful we all are.
You are beautiful and amazing!
gosh, i LOVE you.
Everytime I click on your blog I leave thinking how glad I’ve found it. You are inspiring and oh-so-brave! And thank you for posting the quote… It’s not who you are that holds you back, it’s who you think you’re not… fantastic!
Tina-it’s been a while but I’m back on the radar. First, congrats on the birth of your beautiful baby boy!
Second, this post took guts. And I love your attitude. I’ve been struggling lately with feeling bloated and not where I want to be. It’s frustrating that when I was laid off I was in the best shape of my life but mentally unhappy. Now I”m working again and I love my job and am SO grateful but I’ve put on 15 pounds and it’s clearly from not being able to move as much (I’m in marketing, it’s a desk job) I still work out regularly but it’s not enough … and I still eat well … this post really hit me today. Thank you for putting this out there. Sometimes I need to be reminded of how beautiful we are. You rock. And you are beautiful!!
You look beautiful! 🙂 Love your baby posts!!!
You are beautiful! But more importantly, your attitude is beautiful. Thanks for sharing!
This is a great post! I couldn’t agree more. What could possibly be more beautiful than carrying, birthing and nourishing your precious baby? Our bodies do so much for us, aside from childbearing, and appreciating them for all they can do is beautiful!
The strength in my arms amazes me! My arms give me the ability to carry two 4-year old girls down (or up) the stairs simultaneously! Motherhood gives you some serious muscles!
[…] @ Faith, Fitness, Fun just did a great post about loving your body in this exact moment – not what it was like two months ago, not what you hope it will be like in […]
You look so beautiful! I love your confidence, it makes you glow.
I love my body right now because it carries me through so many runs!
You’re my hero for posting this! I remember being so upset about my post-partum body when really, I should have embraced it.
What an awesome and honest post Tina. Many congrats on Baby B. You look beautiful. Isn’t a woman’s body just amazing? I’m so in awe of it after having a baby myself.
They are amazing aren’t they? It just goes to show how smart and beautiful our bodies are….look at what they make! Three precious little ones just between the 2 of us. 🙂
