Self-Love Reflection: Finding Joy
Posted: April 10, 2011 at 3:17 pmIn life, we all search for happiness. We want fulfillment and to live with contentment. In order to find such a life, we have to take the first steps in finding joy in each day. From the small moments of a child’s laugh to the bigger “wow” moments of exciting vacations and celebrations, we must reach out and grab joy each day.

I don’t think I need to tell you why finding joy in everyday moments of life can increase overall happiness. We all have that logic. Instead, I want to ask you to find it for yourselves today. Don’t avoid it for fear it will get in the way of to-dos. Don’t convince yourself another moment will come soon enough. Don’t hesitate on whether you deserve that moment of joy. Just take it. And walk away with a smile.

What will bring YOU joy? It’s yours for the taking….so take.
Quotes to Reflect On

TIna,
I love your self reflections! 🙂
you’re so right we need to find them everyday and not always question why! wonderful 🙂
I’m working on getting more joy in my life — appreciating what I have, spending time with the people I love and taking care of myself — that way I look and feel my best and can appreciate all that I have!
I need to work on this, particularly on days when I’m stressed out. Appreciating the small, everyday moments of joy goes such a long way in my overall happiness.
Lately it feels like technology can be one of the main obstacles in missing out on some joyful moments – especially with blogging, it’s easy to always be on my laptop when I’m relaxing at night (there is always another post to work on, another comment to respond to, another thing I could say on Twitter). While sometimes it can feel so innocent to be on my laptop while home at night, it causes me to miss out on little things like jokes and conversations with people I love, and even little things that I treasure in my alone, quiet time. I need to remind myself that online interaction alone cannot make me happy, and at some point I need to draw the line with internet time and open myself up to joy.
Awwwww, yay! Thank you for this.
Joy has been kinda hard to find this last week… But this morning I spent time watching little kids play games. It was very entertaining. 🙂 Brightened my day a little bit. 😀 And tonight I’m going to spend time with my small group girls.
Okay. So, timing is SUPER.
We talked about happiness (and contentment) & joy tonight, how they’re different. AH!
That last quote is so perfect! It’s so easy to want to be happy, but you actually have to put in effort to achieve happiness. Doing things I love (running!) and being with people I love that make me happy bring me joy.
I love these posts. They are so inspirational 🙂
A lot of things bring me joy:
1. My faith
2. My marriage
3. My family
4. My job
tina-oh how I love your posts!
Things that are bringing me joy
-the thought of my upcoming wedding/honeymoon
-the weather this wknd (FINALLY SOME SUNSHINE)
-My family
-obviously my pup!
-HEALTH!
Having a good workout. Yoga in a dark room. McKinley. My 3 “sisters”. My family. Skiing. Traveling. Things to look ahead to.
What a great post to cap off a weekend as we get ready to start another work week.
Mmmm, so many things bring me joy:
– spending a Sunday with my hubby and good friends
– drinking Peach Bellinis & having dinner on a PATIO (yay Spring)
– cute, goofie dogs
– flip flops and sunglasses in April
what a sweet post Tina~joy~I truly believe, and find that I cannot find joy apart from the Lord!! just everything–from His everlasting love and kindness yet tough love He pours on me, brings me joy. 😀 Oh! And flowers give me joy, yummy treats, coffee, people, the beach…but those are different kinds of joy for me. I guess I’d call those “delights” have a sweet night!
I just love the WORD Joy!
I agree that we have to be conscious about TAKING the joy. Remembering that the small moments can bring us joy, so slow down and savor them. This is a great reminder.

I LOVE that quote! I do agree that we have to learn, find, and “catch” what makes us happy. I also think it’s important to note that sometimes that things we think will make us happy, won’t and don’t.
I love that distinction! Good reminder that things sometimes don’t fulfill us like we expect.
I love this post!
